Beat Federer at Australian Open 2005 Beat Djokovic at Wimbledon 2008 (i don't count AO 05 as it was young Djokovic) Beat Agassi at FO 1998 and AO 2004 Beat Sampras at US00 and AO 2002 Beat Kuerten at FO 1998 (and AO but that wasn't Guga's strength) There's a lot more matches Safin won against slam winners in grand slams but these were his best wins imo, sometimes he made it look easy. I don't think there is anyone else who has beaten Sampras, Agassi, Federer and Djokovic in grand slam play. Safin was gone long before this tournament. He hurt his knee in 2005 and looking back I think if he could go back and retire there and then he would - he brought nothing to the tour aside from pity and sadness (like, the 'remember him' and just accepting he was done out here).

Prime Safin vs Young Novak.. Nice).. Then all were better than Federer as most of them beat him when he was 18-21. Fed was getting beat by Agassi, Rafter, Kafelnikov, etc.. early on in his 20s. No surprise! It has happened to all greats early on in their careers. Federer didn't even win a slam until he was 22.

I said when Frauderer was the same age 18-21, all players could beat him. Frauder was beaten by Agassi at the USO, trashed by Rafter (0-3 H2H), and trounced by Kafelnikov at Wimbledon at the same age. Novak was young, just 20 or turned 21, while Marat was 29 (experienced with 2 Slams). It's got to do with being young and facing experienced players@@steinanderson

Same, Novak just turned 21, which is still young, when he faced prime/experienced Marat (29) with 2 slams. @@truthtruth9056 21 was not prime djokovic, 23 he starts his prime in 2011. 2008 and 2009 was good djokovic level but not prime. 20-21 years federer was not prime, so please stop Djokovic was very good player in 2008-2009. Safin and roddick too slams champions and masters, they are at his best when both are younger, but both lack on consistency to play on a high level. Roddick was a mediocre to average on clay, never reach a qf and safin was like nalbandian has no discipline to train, he only delivers on his talent but has no ethic work so, those players never and ever can challenge Federer on regular high level to stop the swiss from dominate is like djokovic the last 5 years. That´s why they called weak era. If Federer has a weak era, well djokovic too and nadal on clay too
