Tench - A Long Awaited Spring
A slow start to the tench season reminds us that it is our impatience after a long winter that is more often the problem rather than any change in the weather or fish behaviour.

How many other obsessions can spring such huge surprises in the least likely of conditions? For the avid angler, every nuance of the art is a joy, but, arguably, nothing beats the euphoria of success wrestled from the most adverse of conditions; whether that is simply a nice fish, a personal best or the 'fish of a lifetime'? Anglers of a certain vintage will spot my homage to some of the inspirational writers and broadcasters of my youth. A time when fishing was all about the pleasure of taking part and not the kudos of becoming a legend in one's own little world. So I take my metaphorical hat off in the credits to Jack Hargreaves' Out of Town programme about rural life (just as it was dying out I suppose) with the...
