ive seen these trailers with this long tongue! I don't see what benefits it gives you, leaves a gap,that i think is ridiculousI! the gap leaves room for a car to get in,if the car drivers not paying attention and thinks the first dup truck is it! its happened! crunch a toyotu!

Been doing this type of work for over 30 years I still love it to this day
In my younger days I was a gravel hauler and I even was a crusher operator for a year I worked around that equipment for a few years.
