    Really enjoyed these , the Lost Stories can be hot and miss for me, but not these. Had low expectations of Operation Werewolf because of the title I'm not into stuff with Werewolves so it was a nice surprise to find it was actually a sort of Historical , reminded me a little of the NA book Just War . Deathworld was fun , a look into a version of The Three Doctors where Hartnell would have been more active. Really into the recast 2nd and 3rd Doctors, I don't dislike the new 1st, he's a good actor , just can't see The 1st Doctor, so in my minds eye he's more like a 'sideways' version from another dimension, like the one in The Five Doctors .

  • @AndyRossism

    Apologies for the long comments, new subscriber here , hello from Newcastle UK . I believe it was WH Smiths who complained about the blood on the cover of Goth Opera. Back when it still had some respect as a store. It's where I always bought my New and Missing Adventures. Most of which I was a bit too young for!

  • @AndyRossism
    @AndyRossism 19 часов назад

    I also have started to try and avoid all behind the scenes or promo chat and I think that has def helped me enjoy it more, I avoided trailers, all sorts . Used to like listening to RTD wax lyrical on anything but now I try to tune it all out. With my favs 73 Yards and Dot and Bubble I didn't know a single thing about what I was getting into and I loved that . I think RTD means well but is too off the cuff in how he talks about certain things and I say this as a gay man who came of age with Queer as Folk and I've sometimes been joyed at his uncompromising takes on stuff but things like the Davros statement (not the actual minisode itself) got my back up a bit. He speaks on behalf of groups he isn't part of, has back projected racism into the actual character of The Celestial Toymaker , none of which I agree with. Though I still find myself less despondent about the current state of things than your guest bottom right square! Maybe I'm more 'Right On' than I think !

  • @AndyRossism
    @AndyRossism 20 часов назад

    I'll fight for 73 Yards being the best bit of TV Who and tv in general for years , the most recent series had one of my all time least liked episodes, but it also had Dot and Bubble which I really like and as I said, 72 Yards which I think was an astonishing watch. I'm 43 and in Who fandom and life in general find myself torn between the younger so called Woke take, and the older more critical position and I think both broad groups can be intolerant and too quick to judge or make their minds up.

  • @AndyRossism

    I enjoyed Goth Opera, it wasn't one of my fav M.A's books, but I enjoyed the adaptation. Just a pity its had some production mistakes at the same time as BF's website problems . They are going to release a 'fixed' version this month (Aug) ..I think. The incorrect end titles music and door sounds really threw me off in the moment which was a pity. It's quite funny though, I seem to have really been into the NA and MA books which are least likely to ever be adapted, as they were either too weird or not popular enough! (I have a 'auto-read' audio book of The Man in the Velvet Mask! Makes me wish we could maybe get more full readings in liue of BF adaptations like they did with Human Nature )

    He's my fav Communist writer for the show ! People go on about the show being too political now ,(I think the issue is the style it's done in myself) but the classic series made no bones about it esp Hulke!

    Nicola Bryant is always a pleasure to see (and hear) perform as well as her interviews and convention appearances. I just saw her in The Wilds and she was absolutely brilliant and quite hilarious. Growing up in the 80's I assumed she was American. I love hearing her story about having to pretend to actually be American through the Doctor Who auditions and then during her stint on the show since her agent was never willing to admit she was British. In her interview with Matthew Sweet she mentions that she started dialing back her accent in some situations such as her first Breakfast Time interview when she had won the part. I think there are even more layers to this story that I hope Nicola will share someday. On the Season 22 and 23 Bluray collections released over the last couple years, I came across two bonus materials on the discs with her speaking in her British accent while she was still working on the show. The first is some studio footage taken during the production of The Two Doctors. It's called Convention Message and it's right after they finish the last scene of the episode. After they wrap the scene they reposition cameras and equipment and Nicola stands on the stairs while everyone is moving things around. You hear her say hello to someone and "alright" and states "I don't know my lines for this". All of this is in her British accent. Then she's joined by Frazer Hines and quietly tells him "no I can't move over, I was told to stand here" in what sounds like it could be her American Peri voice. The two of them then make "apologies" that they won't be at an upcoming convention due to being on holiday. Here Nicola is in full-on American accent while Frazer has dropped his Scottish accent. It's really an adorable clip to watch. In the Season 23 Collection there's another Breakfast Time clip on the Mindwarp disc. It's a short clip when Nicola, John Nathan Turner, and Janet Fielding. The hostess interviews Janet first and she sounds positively British! I had to look her up again to see that she really was an Australian actress. Then they move to John Nathan Turner. Finally they bring on Nicola and show a scene from (the upcoming at that time) Mindwarp stating it will be her last for the show. Nicola makes no attempt to hide her British accent here. It made me wonder, if JNT really didn't know she was British at that point and was sitting on the sofa in total shock. I rather suspect she had dialed her accent back bit by bit over time. I figured she probably could have claimed at the time that she had just picked up a British accent after living in the UK for the 3 years while working on the show. Who knows but I'd love to hear more!

    This is wonderful and very moving. I was fortunate to meet Stephen at an event in Glasgow and he was delightful and he gave me a free Autograph as I had an 11 year written correspondence with The Actor Don Henderson. He was delightful and Stephen told me that Don gave him his first Professional job in Theatre, and on that basis, he gave me that Autograph. We had a couple of photos together. I particularly enjoyed his performance as Nicos in Only When I laugh, by Eric Chappell and in an Episode of The Persuaders,with Terry Thomas. He is sadly missed, but his work will live on. It is interesting to hear him talk of Audio work/Voiceovers etc.I have done some V/overs and I studied Audio Engineering and what he says is most interesting.I am re-discovering Blake's 7 for the first time since it went out.I wish I could have spoken more with Stephen, he sounds very interesting and also as a person too. Thank you for recording this, it is very special and will be revisited by many people. I am Disabled now and probably will do no more Voiceovers, which I miss, but I DID do about 130 Voices/Characterisations. Indeed, I gave Big Finish the idea some years ago at a Convention in Weston Super-Mare, to get other Actors to take on the Voices of actors who had passed on-and now look where we are, quite a few re-creating the voices of those Actors, to make possible stories that would otherwise have not been made.Particularly Sadie Miller recreating her Mum's triumph as Sarah Jane Smith for Big Finish.I was decried at the time for this suggestion as being disrespectful, but no, when a performance is given from the heart, it is as real as the original if done respectfully. Strange World. Thank You.

    I just didn’t quite get what the connection was between the psychic children and the N-forms, especially what caused the N-form pieces to end up in the Smile / cocaine in the first place. Is it just unfortunate coincidence? Or were the N-forms sent to earth by some especially immoral time lords afraid of a vampiric presence on Earth in 1987? The seeming lack of correlation between the two aspects of the story made me wonder what threads exactly Seven was following to unravel the story. A psychic vampire also doesn’t seem quite equivalent to a hemovorous vampire, vampire “wavelength” be damned. Don’t exactly Get why the two plot threads intertwined at all, honestly.

      Indeed... We're lucky to have her still, considering how long ago the beginning was.

    It would be amazing for the show to bring Susan back, a character who has haunted the series since her departure so long ago.

      I would absolutely love for them to bring Susan back, played by Carole, and then have her regenerate and stay with the Doctor for a time. I don't know if Ncuti's Doctor would be the right match for that... I wish they'd done it during Capaldi's era, and that photo of Susan on his desk certainly gave me hope, but alas no..

      I had high hopes that Susan (Foreman) would be back for the last two episodes this season but no joy there. C'mon, Davies! Make it happen!

    Guys, come on. The spoon was an object from outside of the memory TARDIS and was needed to complete a connexion with the screen, which was also from outside of it.

    I loved the show so much from seeing it on the ABC here in Australia that I and my sister typed up several of the scripts so we could read them whenever we wanted.

    Good if Carol Ann Ford came back one more time as Susan before she passes on and to address if Susan can also regenerate.

    Yet another ridiculous big bad reveal with rearranging letters! How many times has RTD done this. It wasn't an anagram it was a portmanteau. I'm obviously too old for Dr Who now anyway because apparently the new crap is only enjoyed by under 30 year olds now. That's why they brought back a character from 1975 and changed him into a silly dog and then killed him with walkies.

    Stephen Fewell is credited on the physical release of the pyramid of sutekh, however its on the inside of the linear notes under the pictures, and on the back cover where the cast is credited it says additional cast member credited on inside, please check when you have finished listening. I think this is the only time they jave done that.
