Gotta say THANK YOU for this great video. What a relief! I have been hating on my stubborn, sticky buttons for over a year since I bought the car (previous owner doused it with some type of sugary coffee) Now the entire control panel looks and operate as close to new as can be. While some parts are strictly cleaned with q-tips with alcohol only, on the buttons once you’re down to the plastic, and there’s no electronics to damage, you can soak in soapy water and brush to your heart’s content to dissolve out the muck. I used a bit of pressurized air and let em sit to dry out while I cleaned other things. Again, thank you.

For the temperature control unit, are there any screws I need to take out besides the 3 connecting pts? Also I see you didn't have to take out the radio unit, but was able to take out the temp control unit, correct?

One watch-out for anyone doing this. Underneath the LCD screen there is a little metal (aluminum I assume) spacer that's about 2"x2" (I may have the size wrong, it was a long time ago) that just drops into a little groove below the screen. Do not make the mistake I made! It's not perfectly square, and the orientation and which groove you drop it into matters. If you put it in the wrong way and then try to reassemble everything, you'll crack your screen from the extra pressure put on it. Ugh. I've put up with a cracked screen for a couple years because I refused to pay Porsche $1400 (Canadian) for a whole new HVAC control unit - all because you couldn't buy just a replacement LCD screen. (Aside: thankfully, there's a Chinese company that sells just the screen now, which I've ordered and will be installing this weekend.)

Thank you so much for this - some jerk in an SUV cut me off and I slammed the brakes ... my coffee went all into this part and the PCM. Between this and another video showing PCM disassembly, I was able to get it all apart and cleaned. No more sticky buttons! Great video ❤
