It's a bit tricky for me to understand all the details of the game because there is not much information on the web about it and sometimes they are in conflict with each other, so can I ask you a little more, please? 1) "Win by Self-Draw" adds 1 tai and "Win by Concealed Hand" adds 1 tai, but what happens if your hand is concealed when you self-draw the winning tile? Do you score 2 tai or 3 tai? 2) Is it true that in "Ping Hu" the final wait must be on the two sides of a sequence (2-sided wait) and you must win by concealed hand when claiming/stealing a tile from another player to win (no self-draw allowed to win)? 3) Calling "Ting" (announcing a ready hand) is an optional rule, is it? 4) Do you add 1 tai if a player has all 4 Flowers or all 4 Seasons? 5) How do you manage the situation where a player has 7 flowers and another player draws the last flower? Do you apply the "7 robbing 1" rule, the "1 robbing 7" rule or you simply ignore everything?
Sorry for the late reply. 1. A concealed self-draw (Men Qing Zi Mo) is worth a total of 3 tai, known as “Men Qing Yi Mo San.” 2. Ping Hu does not require a concealed hand. It can still be considered Ping Hu even if you have claimed tiles. 3. Announcing “Ting” (ready hand) is not required. 4. Having all four flowers or all four seasons is called “Hua Gang” and is worth 2 tai in total. 5. If a player has 7 flower tiles and another player draws the last one, it is called “Qi Qiang Yi” (7 robbing 1), and the robbed player must pay 8 tai. Additionally, if a player collects all 8 flower tiles, it is called “Hua Hu” or “Ba Xian Guo Hai” (Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea). This is considered a self-draw, and the player collects 8 tai from each of the other three players.

Hi everyone. I cannot find anything on Internet about the scoring system of Taiwanese Mahjong, so I would like to ask you something, if possible. How do you calculate the score of your winning hands? Which combinations do you play with and how much is each of them worth?
In Taiwanese Mahjong, scoring is commonly calculated using systems such as 30/10, 50/20, 100/20, etc. The base points and bonus points (台, tai) for each winning hand are determined by the method of victory. Playing cards are often used as chips to represent points. Each player is assigned one suit (1 to 13 cards), and J, Q, and K each represent 150 points, totaling 1,000 points per player. Example: If a player discards a tile leading to another player’s win (放槍, “fong qiang”), the scorer receives: • Base points (底): 50 • Bonus points (台): 20 per tai • Total: 70 points
@@wei-tsung-chan Thank you for your answers, I appreciate it a lot! I don't want to bother you too much but can I ask you some more questions? 1) Do you add 1 tai if you win by having no flower or no honor tile? 2) Do you add 1 tai if you win by waiting for a single tile on the pair? 3) Do you add 1 tai if you win by waiting for the middle tile of a chow? 4) How many tai do you assign to All Pungs (all triplets)? 5) How many tai do you assign to Half Flush (all tiles of one suit + honor tiles)? 6) How many tai do you assign to Full Flush (all tiles of one suit)? 7) Do you play with All Chows (all sequences)? If yes, how many tai do you assign to it? 8) Do you play with Revealed Hand (all open/exposed sets)? If yes, how many tai do you assign to it? 9) Do you play with Four Concealed Pungs (four concealed triplets)? If yes, how many tai do you assign to it?
1. No flower tiles, no honor tiles, no pung (triplet) tiles, and all chows (must meet all conditions) is called “Ping Hu,” (all sequence hand),and it adds 2 tai. 2. Single wait adds 1 tai. 3. Middle or edge wait adds 1 tai. 4. All Pungs adds 4 tai. 5. Half Flush adds 4 tai. 6. Full Flush adds 8 tai. 7. Same as the first rule: All Chows alone does not add tai, but if there are no honor tiles, no flower tiles, and no pung tiles, it is called “Ping Hu,” and it adds 2 tai. 8. This rule is not played. 9. Three concealed pungs, four concealed pungs, and five concealed pungs are worth 2 tai, 5 tai, and 8 tai, respectively.
@@wei-tsung-chan Thanks for the instructions! I had no idea there was so much to learn about this game! Moreover, the idea of using playing cards to count points is just brilliant!
