Old Town maybe nice but please do not say anything about the school system, it failed me terribly. The common joke is I'm from olt town I don't do math

I think it depends on the individual. For me, I was two years ahead of the average with most of my class. I moved to Alaska where the high school system is much much worse.

Rewatching this...some thoughts. Has the 'last big community' been sliding down from Presque Isle to Millinocket to Lincoln to Old Town? Saldy...All this talk of the future is moot until the region gets better high speed internet I'm afraid. It doesn't help the insular-ness of the community and can be heard daily on 103.9...edit: speaking of which at 14:38 he's telling on himself lol. If he wants a thriving down town he needs to opt in to recreational cannabis. Boomers hold the whole place back. And I meant what I said when I mentioned being inspired earlier. David Pingree made his fortune shipping slaves & cotton and his land base still generates revenue for his descendants today....wheels turning

Thanks for the walk down memory lane. "The mill" was not the first to leave but the last. My grandfather retired from the pie plate factory. With only social security for his retirement. He was the inventor of a lot of the specialized equipment n the mill. The federal government was encouraging business to go over seas thru tax breaks. Needless to say they did from pie plates, wool shops, to shoes. I think the federal gov outsourced our jobs and the big industries owners who sit the seats in Congress did defeat the unions.

If only they had filmed that about 5 or so years beforehand (may have been longer, it's been a while), when Herbert Gray was still standing. So many other aspects of OT that weren't mentioned, but hey, maybe a part 2 or something.
