I had my Honda 2000W inverter generator sit for 10 years. Put in a new spark plug and it started with 1 pull. That generator only takes gasoline. 10 years ago I let the tank run dry. I just bought a Champion similar to one in this video to run our well pump. I haven't ran since Memorial Day. Still in the break in. I like the idea of tilting the tank to run it dry. Also, the new Champion I have has a drain bolt under the carburetor bowl. Also I am a carbon monoxide survivor. 30 years ago I had a chimney flue collapse in a house with natural gas heating. Nothing killed more brain cells than carbon monoxide poisoning. But it's possible to recover.

I only run a quart of gasoline once a week. In a real run I do use only propane. Propane causes frost on your fuel system. As it dries it turns to rust. Rust damages your fuel system. After using propane I let it cool then add a quart of gasoline to dry the system out. I have lots of propane, but keep gasoline only as a back up. You're so right in running propane. We just need to dry up the fuel system after using it. After a long run on propane you will see frost on generators fuel system.

Premium fuel doesn't matter, generators don't care about octane ratings. But using ethanol-free gasoline is one of the most important thing you can do to ensure generator reliability. I get a lot of free generators that don't start because people let ethanol gas turn to gel in the carb bowl.

Not the correct generator you need one that’s has an inverter because it’s not safe for your sensitive electronics
