    fyi, I have bought one of these, not sure if it's his brand but identical otherwise. I used it on a 30 year old 40gal hot water holding tank; I got about 2 gallons of sediment out of it. It was an indirect heater type hot water tank. I have not yet reinstalled the tank though, will replace the sacrificial anode first, then hope for the best.

    Why don't you built it in Stainless steel instead of Plastic It will last a life time rather people can start there side job But made of this plastic HHHMMM this will not last long before cracking cross threading ect... MAKE IT OF STAINLESS STEEL

    Water heater is only 7 years old. No issues with water pressure or anything. Should I still do this?

    I tried to use one of these yesterday, I ran it for about 10 seconds and the spring thing got bound up and broke off inside the water heater. I spent about an hour fishing that stupid thing out of the tank. Never again.

    Bro the Quick Connect fittings that go on your water hose make life so much easier when hooking that shit up instead of constantly having to screw or unscrew your garden hose.

    Wouldnt it potentially crack or break an form of lining inside the tank to prevent bare metal exposure and rust?

    Surprised that for someone so interested in tank maintenance, you reinstalled the same plastic drain valve, without it looked like any thread tape on it.

  • @stevenwaninski8874
    @stevenwaninski8874 6 месяцев назад

    What do you do if you can’t get the drain valve out? I ordered one to do this to a water heater that’s been in my house over thirty years but there was no way I could get the drain valve off the water heater without risking breaking it.

    • @jerry132526

      If the water heater is 30 years old, it's probably time for a new one.

    • @stevenwaninski8874
      @stevenwaninski8874 День назад

      @@jerry132526 You’re probably right, it still heats the water fine but probably not the more efficient in terms of gas usage.

    With a large trap door water heaters would be cleaned by user/owners and never wear out . American manufacturers could not sell a new heater every couple of years. American made products are designed to fail and cost the buyer lots of pain and lots of money. USA is doomed.

    Doesn't look soft enough to me to not break dip tube, ceramic/glass lining, maybe even a heating element. I like the idea of the grinder to break up the sediment. My first attempt to flush was to use a long hose to go out the walk-out basement and it quickly got clogged. (looked like small aquarium gravel)

    The key is to maintain and flush your water heater BEFORE there is a buildup of sediments. Once you let the sediments harden and adhere to the bottom, good luck clearing it.

    This is a dumb invention on the level of when rugrats introduced me to the ear-whizz. Waste money on the device then waste money on the plumber needing to come fix/replace your water heater. Good job.

    The other day I started getting the dreaded water heater knock. Flushing didn't work so I ordered this tool and it worked. I don't know what else to say about it, it worked good and the knocking went away, it did take a long while and a lot of water to clear all of the stores up sediment but it's also a 12 year old tank.

  • @Rocket-x9v

    There was still tons of sediment after you used the gadget. Now let me tell you the right way to do it. You use a 3/4" brass nipple with a shut off valve and a garden hose adapter on the other side. You take off the crappy plastic drain valve and screw in the 3/4" brass valve with shut off. You then hook up your garden hose to the adapter and either run hose outside or in floor drain. You then cut hot side water line and cap it at tank. Turn on your main shut off to water heater and open up the shut off you installed on that 3/4" brass nipple the incoming water pressure will flush every bit of the sediment out of tank because you now have a much larger opening that lets all the bigger sediment to go through smoothly, let it run until you see clear water. Then your done , Turn off the main shut off valve to water heater and let remaining sediment free water empty from tank, Tank will be empty as if it were brand new. I'm a master plumber in 3 different states been doing it this way for over 20 years and always flush all sediment out with this method, I'm only sharing this knowledge with you all because I am retiring soon.

    As a Professional im asking myself if I want to offer this product to my clients... Im definetly not comfortable asking a home owner to remove the tank drain, use the tool and properly reinstall. However if I remove the drain and provide them a full port ball valve so they can easily open the valve and insert the tool then perhaps.

    • @craigmuehleip9121
      @craigmuehleip9121 Год назад

      A lot of people do replace the factory drain valve with a ball valve. This does make future cleaning with the tank cleaner easier.

    This has performed exactly as desired ruclips.net/user/postUgkx8G49mV71sAzUl9shXyLW-r3XgHH9EVh1 . Basically, instant hot water instead of waiting up to two minutes as it was before. I have had this installed almost exactly one year now and just replaced the anode which is pictured. I pulled it out at six months and cleaned the heating element and removed debris. I would recommend a cleaning every six months and an anode replacement yearly. A mild citric acid and water solution soak really helps clean the heating element and tank. It must be fully disassembled to do the cleaning and that is not difficult but could have been made easier with a couple of design changes but no big deal.
