Likely a year’s worth of reference in one place divided equally between four notebooks. Check out this video of me trying to figure out just what these are and how I can use them. No, I don’t think I will. lol
Very much agree about the subscription! The randomness of getting either grid/blank/lined is what I'm unsure on. Still enjoy the notebooks though, great video!
@@garrettstable I enjoy them as well. Thanks for the comment!

This is one of my favorite pens!
Nice! I enjoy mine a lot. It does seem to dry quick on the nib though.
hey kind of a weird question but what nib size did you get?
@@Ivy.the.dobbie.on.tt1 not weird at all. I got the fine nib.
@ thank you brother i was wondering what min to get
For sure! Hope it does well for you!

I recommend checking a pocket size leather travelers notebook to keep & protect your notebooks. Just a thought. I have several and works great
@@catwoods5499 I will have to try that. I bet it would help out a lot.
Seeds? Cool idea!
Indeed!
I have no problem with a fountain pen on any of my field notes notebooks...your mileage may vary.
Yeah, it just didn’t do well for me. I still used it but it just didn’t do well enough to keep it up.
Shots fired. Field Notes aren't quite all they're cracked up to be. The experience/excitement is what makes the subscription popular. Let's face it, these are either a collectors item or just good enough for throw away lists and notes. They aren't archival quality if you're actually going to use them. Give me a leuchtturm1917 anyday.
Hear, hear!! Summed it up nicely.
I ended up creating a Plotter clone using 13mm rings from Amazon and a piece of leather I stained and cut. I then fill it with the plotter 5mm grid paper, a Kaweco Lilliput brass pen, plotter pen holder, and card holders. It now is my daily wallet and notebook. Haven't even looked back.
I need to see this as I am not familiar with Plotter. I’ll check it out. Thanks for the comment!
I’m with you on that. At the moment I’m with the passport travelers size with 2 inserts but later on I’m most likely going back to my LT1917 (huge fan) and that worked for me great!
I love my LT1917. I want to try one in pocket size. I have only used the A5 sized.
@@Cotyblackall I use is the A6 also. You won’t regret it. I use both the soft cover and hardcover. Both phenomenally awesome.
@@qiqerod awesome. Thanks for the suggestion! Appreciate the comments.
I liked the subscription only for the fact that im indecisive and this allowed me to get pocket notebooks without staring at the screen trying to choose which one to get.. i liked to get happy mail and sometimes they added little extras that made me happy. But its expensive for not knowing what youre getting and if youll like it.. i got it for a few years and still have some needing to be used so.. pros and cons all over the place.. I do like the Exceed one that you got from walmart.. i like those better than the L1917 ones just because they are readily available..love the Exceed brand in general though ..
Agreed all around. Walmart does have a great selection for what we need it think. I do like the esthetic of Field Notes but there is a $3 sketch pocket notebook at Walmart I fell in love with. Feels good, can put stickers on it, and the paper can handle whatever you want to use.
I highly recommend the micron “PN” series archival ink pens
Hey thanks! What is the difference in the PN and the regular microns?
@ PN stands for “Plastic Nib”, so the nib doesn’t flatten or warp like the standard nib. I love the standard version too but it tends to warp with use, in my experience
Ah, I see. I will check them out. I agree, the regular ones do warp easily. Thanks for the suggestion!
I love Field Notes but I definitely need to only buy the covers that I would want and they had a lot of beauties this year. I know it is not necessary, but I love their Bellroy cover that I purchased for them and stick a Lamy Safari on the spine and so far it's fun.
That Bellroy cover is pretty cool. I was thinking about a cover for my own. I’m just not sure I would use it.
I have just begun pocket notebooks for 2025. I love the versatility.
@@wildaprovo1546 they are a great tool to have.
Yo, I just bought that yesterday

I am sure that those Field Notes nuts you spoke about have some kind of way of comparing with others how many they complete in an month so they can "win" over others.
It’s a pretty neat group actually. Lots of interesting ways of using the notebook. I just don’t use them like I thought I would. In some ways they are great. In others, they just don’t hold up like a cheap pocket sketchbook or hardback lined pocket notebook.
Field Notes are not cheap, but their designs are so great and I enjoy them so much the cost doesn't bother me. It's a great company and their products are made in the US
@@7775Kevin I do like them but I haven’t found myself using them as much as I thought I would. The designs do make me love them.
@@7775Kevin I do like them but do not think I use them enough to justify getting the subscription again.
Thank you!!!! I’m in my third trimester and felt so behind on note taking. This changes it all!!!!!
You're so welcome!
So u have to own their sharpener?
Yes. It’s a must if you use pencils. This one is a great alternative to the expensive Blackwing sharpener.
@Cotyblack ok thanks for the info

Wow! I really appreciate that! I apologize for the lack of content. Hope to get more out soon! Thank you!
Field Notes are great. They are made in America by a great, creative company. I've enjoyed them for years.
I do like the convenience of it. I have been using them for other things as well, like single subject notebooks. I do like that idea of it as well.
The man needs a notebook cover/EDC case…
I would love one of those leather covers. I may get one soon.
@@Cotyblack the general consensus I have seen online is that military style fabric covers are better than leather ones.
@@AmsNl2BcnEs I could see that.
The sound keeps alternating stereo side to side?
I apologize. It is probably me going back and forth. I’m trying to figure out some better audio. Thanks for the feedback.
Nice, I like the Field Notes but prefer the back cover blank, so I can write on it, the stuff they have printed is not of use to me.
Yeah, I get it for sure. I have enjoyed giving them a try.
Just started using field notes. Picked up a nice Horween leather field note cover, the leather alone makes me want to use the thing lol. I just date each page and write whatever each day. I go to the last page, added my day 1 date as a created a daily index, and the index works from back to forward, and eventually it will meet in the middle. Then I’ll go to a new field note at that point. That was a great suggestion I read in a comment elsewhere. Whatever works for you as long as you use it, that’s all the matters right? 😊
I think figuring it out is part of the joyous journey. It’s been fun trying new things, failing and succeeding. Happy journaling and let us know how it goes!
What nib did you choose?
I believe it is the fine nib.
@@Cotyblack i think Im gonna give it a try, I want it to draw too so fine looks pretty much what i need. Thanks much
@@Tomasor3I say go for it. One of the best fountain pens I have used.

Field notes does make a wooden storage box that's nice
Nice! I need to look that up. Thanks for the comment!
I prefer pen and paper as well. I also prefer the actual books and not the electronic books.
Same here. I do read my kindle at night before bed to not disturb my wife but I prefer physical books and analogue writing. Thanks for the comment!
I watch a lot of planning videos, but this is the first one I’ve seen where someone uses a knife to open the package and then states the make and model of the knife. 😂 I’m escaping California and moving to Arkansas. You’ve gotten a new subscriber. 💗
Let it be so! Haha! thanks for the comment!
Not having the option to customize the type of notebook to get lines only is why I don't subscribe. Come on Field Notes!
Exactly!
I cannot write with my apple pencil after covering the I Pad with paper like screen cover... Any idea why it went wrong?
Could it be the pencil settings are off? Try to sync it again.
Ok that is Genius!!! I never wanted to take notes anywhere other than my Bible, but at some point that is not feasible. But if I took notes in other notebooks I would never find them to go over them or look up something the Pastor had said. Now I can make a note in my Bible telling where to find that info. Awesome!! Thank you so much.
@@kathyar015 it really is a big help! I learned it from other learned men and I came to appreciate it very much. Give it a try and see if you don’t get better at your Bible notes and your understanding of Scripture. It is a game changer. Thanks for the comment!
This came in my recommended; I'm in graduate school myself (actually religious studies PhD, so similar field to you!) and it's incredibly helpful. I hadn't thought of adding my own table of contents or index, but as I think about it I see more benefits! Thanks and keep doing what you're doing!
Hey! That’s is great news! Keep it up. Yes, the index really helped me a lot with finding where I need to be and referencing specific topics in study. Glad to help and thanks for the comment!
I think I’m going to give the Field Notes subscription a try. I like how each drop seems to be pushing you to be creative with how to use each unique edition.
I say go for it! It’s a great little subscription service for sure. I agree with the creativity. I doubt I’ll do it again next year. May try a Something else. Thanks for the comment!
The first page of the index gives you some examples of how you can use it.
@@QueensNative I didn’t even notice! I’ll check again. Thanks!
I feel like this would be good for movie/game reviews or restaurant reviews.
Oh, I like that! Especially since this is a reference set. Great suggestion!
How do I get it to write? I've got the cartridge in. It clicked. I know ink is coming out bc I spilled a little when I made sure the seal broke.
Hmm. Keep the nib down and makes a lot of strokes on the paper until it begins. If not, discard that cartridge and get another. If you have the filler tube, twist it downward so it spills some ink by pressure. That should do it I imagine.
Try taking it apart and soaking the pieces in some water with a drop of dish soap. Sometimes grease gets trapped in the feed from the manufacturing process. Be sure to rinse and dry everything well before reassembling and re-inking.
I'm sensing that your socks are still on, because this installment of the subscription didn't really knock them off.
😂
It sort of was a neat concept but I don’t know if these will play that much of a role in my day to day.
There's a great deal of freedom with a blank page that begins to erode when they fill the page up with structure.
@@1517hutzelI agree. I don’t even know what to do with a couple of the boxes.
Starting with January every other month is 31. At August you start over at 31. So July and August have 31.
