Winlink "Did You Feel It?" (DYFI) Form
Great Video!
Danke für die Arbeit dieses System ist eine Bereicherung, grüße vom Schwarzwald DG1GHR 73
So now the next chapter should be showing RETREIVING messages others sent to your tactical call sign.
Very Nice! beats the heck out of looking up all the SMS Email Gateways individually!
The SMS function has also been integrated into the Quick Message.txt in the General Forms folder. Now available in the Standard Templates. 👍
:)
Thanks Oliver! The video was well planned and well executed. :)
Many thanks!
That was a great training video.
Thanks!
A little more audio kinda low
Found it. That works slick...thanks!
Tactical addresses have always baffled me. This helped somewhat. Once I create a tactical address though, who in the world knows that I have this new address? It seems this newly created tactical address will only be known by someone I've sent a message to while using the new address. Am I missing something? Tactical address usage is still a little foggy to me.
Tactical addresses are usually pre-assigned. Thus people already know who they are sending to. In LA County we actually tell people the tactical address they are supposed to use when they check in on the voice net. Tactical addresses are most beneficial when a) the recipient may be unfamiliar with FCC call signs of people assigned to a place. For example, EMS personnel may know that tactical address XYZHOSPITAL refers to the hospital of the same name. K6OLI, on the other hand, would be more confusing. b) the group expects shift changes. Our shifts are usually 12 hours, so tactical addresses provide for smooth transitions, as the other stations can continue using XYZHOSPITAL as the mail-to address, regardless of the operator. But you are right: having a random tactical address without context is useless. Tactical addresses make most sense in organized networks where context matters and/or multiple shifts are expected.
@@K6OLI Thanks...that clears things up considerably.
Thank you... I run the Idaho winlink net (KC7VBT) and this is a good example W7PJ
Thanks, Orv - great presentation - nice review of the new code. Bob KJ6GEU
Great presentation about the AREDN firmware update. I don't get to come to the live presentations like I used to, so posting this on RUclips is much appreciated. I have updated the firmware on my router and LNB Mikrotik antenna and I've been checking out the LQM management feature. For me personally, I'm still undecided whether this is an improvement or not. Some of the parameters under the LQM settings are beyond my understanding, and I'm been experimenting with the Power and Link Quality settings. A large percentage of the nodes on the Wilson SE sector Mesh Status page (Los Angeles basin and beyond) are on the tunnel, so filtering out weak RF nodes didn't appear to have an advantage for me. 73's AA6CD
Excellent presentation of the new firmware features, thank you very much LU4EOU
Why unlisted?
GREAT JOB! Great to see a form built! We have a spreadsheet with all RACES Members already formated to send out messages.
I was using excel to open the CVS file from Winlink Express. When I tried to import the CVS file back into Winlink Express. The IC 309 HTML of winlink didn't like the CVS file. it wanted *.txt. I was hoping to send IC 309 by Winlink. All the info was on line 1 of the HTML spread sheet of the Winlink IC 309 HTML gui. hope I make sense de va7dgp
Hi Don, Here's a follow up video that walk you through how to import data from a spreadsheet into the ICS 309. There is a recommended Copy&Paste method and the Load Data method. The first method is much easier and that is what we recommend. Winlink ICS 309 CSV to ICS 309 by K6OLI ruclips.net/video/ydXlSfkpSzw/видео.html
@@K6OLI Thank You. I'll post it on our club FB 73
I like this. I noticed some Canadian Phone companies. I'm wondering if you had Freedom listed in the HTML Program
Yes, Freedom Mobile is in there. And just for the record, the author of the form is Greg KG6SJT, he deserves all the credit. The video is intended for training and to help people get up and running quickly.
