I have really really mixed feelings about all these Nationals videos. You see age grade athletes that are well prepared, fitness and fast, high high level of competition. The fields are tiny, devastatingly small!! This has always been the case w older athletes, but the races across the board are minimal. Field limits are probably 100-125: depending on USA Cycling guidelines but this is ridiculous!! I watch multiple bike racing videos per week and if it's not gravel it's not full. Recent videos of brought back Cascade Cycling Classic in Bend have the Pro, 1,2 field with less than 50 racers and a great prize list and deep . first and second place walking w thousands!! I think the winner got $3800 bucks!! What is the federation doing or not doing to attract existing racers and new riders!!!? And there are bright spots like Grit and Dairyland but the federation needs to string a series together or call Lifetime and ask them how!! Bicycles, training, nutrition, everything is better and faster and American racing scene should be leading the way..330+ million in population and USA Cycling can't get anyone to get a license and race.. Meanwhile Leadville and Unbound turning riders away for lack of space!! The only problem with this video is instead of a few dozen fit, fast racers contesting the national championship it should be 100,125,150!!!

52:40. What happened with that guy attacking on the left? We had an identical situation in the Men’s 4 race, and the motor ref went after him, but like three other guys went wide as well and didn’t get any flak from the official. In ours, the ref slowing the would-be escapee caused a bottle neck because the relegated rider wasn’t far enough left, people tried coming around to the right while slowing, and then what sounded like carnage.
