this is really strange for a game that was released in 2000, and was taken place during the 1999 Formula One World Championship with all the Drivers & Teams this game is really great man, just imagine if Ubisoft would release another game called F1 Racing Championship 2 released in 2021, based on the 2020 Formula One World Championship

What a very average game, formula One 97 absolutely smashes this pile of shit. This was the most overrated F1 game in history. The commentary was pathetic, shit handling and I can't really have anything positive to say about this.

Hi, I'm looking specifically for a PS1 compatible game. I seem to have gone through all available with no luck. The game I am looking for is an F1/GP Racing game with all the tracks. Each track starts with a spoken summary by Murray Walker who's voice is the only commentary and there's also a radio voice from the Pits saying "Pit in" and advising that damage can be repaired "if you want to pit in" You could turn damage on and off, and if you drove with the cockpit view the goggles would be oftend soiled and you could remove the film from them and make them clear. You could set the amount of fuel the car had at the start too. Sometimes the cars would breakdown or catch fire mid lap putting you out of the race. It's a cracking game which my son had and we used to love playing it but it just doesn't seem to be out there. Can anyone help?

I feel this game is nowhere near as good as the game that came before it. Formula 1 that released the previous year was better. The only thing this game has over 97, is the tracks are more accurate . Monaco and game entirely may play better in 97, but 98 got the track layout right with inferior gameplay.

It's such a shame that Scottish (now defunct) game developers Visual Sciences didn't take the engine code that Bizarre Creations offered them but they refused. It would have been a better game all round and given they had just 10 months to complete it in back in 1998... it would of made things easier on the development side. Despite this, it's not the worst ever F1 game made, as you can get to grips with the handling when trying different car set-ups. Like others have said F1 '97 was the best one ever made... probably up until F1 Championship Edition back in 2006 on PS2/PS3. The original F1 game based on 1995 is also fun, still own like F1 '97 :) . It also shows how development was on this game as it has Jos Verstappen in it instead of Jan Magnussen for Stewart-Ford. The game menu's are really great though in F1 '98 despite it's issues with game-play/commentary.

this game was absolutely terrible. But i loved it becuase i was so young and when you 7-8 years old you don't really care about realism or anything.

I always found this game difficult but I loved the music. That's why I always came back to it.
