Hi, This was great! Its hard to get clear and concise info from a Carrier controls guru when you cant ask a formulated question because you don't know the special vocabulary and acronyms. The title should read, how to back up your I-VU database. I'm working on a customer's system, the AOpen computer is failing and will have to be replaced soon, the hard drive is 120G. It's apparent that this procedure does not back up the system, if it did, it would allow one to format a new hard drive, install an operating system and finally, restore the database. The alternative I see is to place the hard drive in a Linux system, using a Linux utility and mirror the drive to another drive as a backup, or better yet, make an image file of the hard drive that can be saved elsewhere. Thx for posting. If I have a Ivu 6.5 server on IP through Ethernet cable and a IVU Open Link do they both have to be on the same Sub-net?

Technically, and per BACnet/Manufacturers instructions, yes. There should be a PROT485 at each roof penetration. The object is to isolate a lightening strike to the roof.

If installing this on many package units on a large roof, the wires would enter and exit the building at every unit. Would it need the surge protector at every unit?
