고양시쪽 일 갔다 돌아오는 차안에서 뇌리속을 맴돌던 음악 하나 ~~ 어떤곡인지 알지도 못하면서 흥얼거렸던~~~ 이곡을 찾으려구 영화음악 검색하다 알게 되었지.... 참 선율이 좋은음악~~ 이 음악을 들을때면 그날 부슬부슬 비오던 차안에서 흥얼거리며 이 음악이 뭐였더라? 하는 생각이 아직도 아련하네~~ 그때만 해도 자유가 있었구 지금은 한곳에 얽메어 있는..... 그때가 그립기는 한데..... 나 그때로 다시.다시 돌아갈수있을까?? 그 용기가 나에게 있을까?

I was not in the Vietnam war, I am Chinese but I knew this piece when I was young learning classical guitar, this remains to be the most beautiful piece ever, I also watched The Deer Hunter numerous times, so good I found this one hour with a vinyl disc on a moving player and I love Korean productions

Thank you, Jenna Siek, for your kind words. Years after the close of the conflict, a catch phrase was developed by Vietnam Vets...it was, and still is..."Welcome Home Brother"...that was developed in view of how vets were treated coming back to the US. I still use that today no matter where I may be and see a vet wearing some form of clothing suggesting he or she was there.

Reminds me of when l used to share a dilapidated house with a Polish bloke who was a proff Spanish guitar player. We'd sit with a bong between us after work and he'd calmly knock out stuff like this. He inevitably spent all his pay on booze but me and the other guys in the house didn't really care. Hours flew by as l sat there in my punk band t-shirt and mohawk, sometimes with tears in my eyes. Privileged.

I was so interested to read the comments, as I also can't explain the overwhelming feeling of magic I hear each time I play it. It transports me to another place, beyond this world. I also play it over and over and never tire of listening to it. Wonderfully beautiful majestic music.

This song is my favorite song. And the movie, The Deer Hunter is so wonderful. I've seen the movie in 70's or maybe 80's. I play guitar, but I can not play the song nicely, neither finished. I like John Williams, Charlie Byrd, Los Indios Tabajaras, Django Reinhardt, George Benson, Lee Ritenour, and.... Oele Patiselano from Indonesia.

Beautiful and haunting. Although nothing could remove the bitter impact of the war, this music heals.

Three of us growing up together joined the Marine Corps right out of HS and one quit school and went in a couple months before we two. Turns out I was the only one who went to Vietnam. One of us didn't end up well and died way to young and we two have had a great life. I relate so much to this great movie as many of thousand of vets do. One day your a happy kid growing up and the next your in hell!

The jazz version at the end? Sorry but no!

I personally think, feel that from 45.16 is John William , the touch, the feels are very similar anyway , if not I congratulate, without any critics nor judgements to the other players here, that its very nice played.

it's aperfect master piece, doubtless for me , but should be play with the connection of one's soul, like John William did. I strongly suggest and think.
