19-year-old hyejin is an R&B singer-songwriter, producer and creative visionary from Seoul, currently based in New York City. A third culture kid who grew up moving between the East and West, hyejin spent her formative years adapting to ever-changing environments, which cultivated her fixation towards the only thing that remained constant in her life: her love for writing. Inspired by the brutally honest songwriting of Amy Winehouse, SZA, and Valerie Simpson, hyejin combines her anti-romantic, slightly pessimistic lyricism with sticky-sweet, dreamy melodies, embarking on an infectious blend of nostalgia that she calls, dream-soul. Currently a sophomore at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, hyejin will be releasing her debut EP, WHAT A SHAME!, co-written and produced by fellow classmates and collaborators, Joe Cho and Lio. The project's first single, I'VE SEEN THIS MOVIE BEFORE was released on October 21st, 2022.
