2024 F350 Fuel Economy. How bad is it really?
Today's video is on our new 2024 F350's fuel economy. Hopefully all my math is right, correct me where I screwed up so I can make it all better. This truck has surprised us, and stay tuned for more as we learn all about it.

Camping In The Mountains With The Kids
Просмотров 140Месяц назад
So, here is a long one, but it was a blast to do. Dan had some vacation time and wanted to take the older ones on an adventure. This was kid lead mostly and we hope it is something they will remember as much as Dan I am sure will. #thebakeradventures #mountainfamily #outdoorlife #campinggear #familycampingtrip #campingtent #kuiu #familyvlog #alberta #camping #campinglife #mountainlife #mountains

Well its not Canada Day for us unless we are spending it in the mountains. We are just getting the feel for these adventure videos, so thanks for the patience as we learn how to edit and put them together. #thebakeradventures #mountainfamily #outdoorlife #campinggear #familycampingtrip #campingtent #seemanism #tipi #hottentcamping #familyvlog #alberta #canadaday2024 #canadaday #camping #camping...

A few suprises at the end, trail cam highlights!
I'm just stoked when my 6.0 starts. Any sound means it started! She's never liked the cold.
This one has always been good. 5w40, fresh glowplugs every couple years and she can do a -40. Don't sound pretty if left over night but who does in that weather
OLD
I like breathing
Breathing is nice
Old
💯
I can hear the #3 injector going down on the early 03 6.0 Damn Sticktion!!!
I wouldn't put it past. 400k+ on these injectors. I know no one will believe it, but unless some elves snuck in one night to do it I never paid for them.
Doesn't matter they both get bad fuel mileage
You be pretty shocked! It's not a prius but the 24 was impressive just check out ourbfuel economy video
@thebakeradventures ford always tell u one thing and the window sticke is always and I mean always 10mpg off
Ya, infact ford here would refuse to tell us. Why we posted the fuel usage for us in the first month to shed some light for those with the same concerns. ruclips.net/video/mFR4rTk0unM/видео.htmlsi=1fdmuzxpPk26Oq3_
2003 is the better one not this new garbage?
Starting to think that
Who here likes watching and hearing diesels get started in the middle of winter smokey and sound is great
I do I do
My 7.3 does this better 😂
I dunno.... proofs in the pudding so ya better show me 😆
Laughs in 1982 Westfalia.
😆
Old is gold!
Sounds amazing don't it?
How did that pool hovering over the middle end up?
I stayed bone dry all night in it!
Have you been in the rain with it?
Sure have! ruclips.net/user/shorts6j0dcFrjzg0?si=cMJM1V1d0ntFA_e6 Was about 8hrs of storms
Also, just got the email they are 40% off right now!!
Pour in quart bags, freeze those, then take the iced block out and put on tray
So we have been finding it takes double the extra time when frozen and done that way. It's like it doesn't dry all the way.
Later in the season for sure, early season id let him walk. Gotta beat whats already on the wall, that ain't gonna do it but its still a nice looking buck.
Old is better than the new ones
Heck ya, check our other short where the digital dash is wonky donky
You bought a Ford? You must know a thing about vehicles 😂
Sucker for punishment 😆
Hard to judge him properly with all the branches but look like he have really long G2 or G3. I like him. If you are able to get more video of him, it will be nice to see it.
First buck of the season caught on camera. Let's hope he comes to one of the other cameras, or some daylight
I hope that you will get more footage of him.
I will pass him because it’s early in the season but that is a nice one.
You’re crazy. That thing is huge
Never pass on a buck the first day, you would pray for on the last
Given that opportunity in the Adirondacks, I would be after that guy.
New trucks are absolute JUNK!!
It's sure seeming that way!
The old, after your fckn fuel pump destroys you entire engine on the new Ford Ford with expect you to sell your ass to pay for it. That's why I drive older ones I'm not stupid and I don't believe you are either so sell that piece of trash before it blows bud, trucks are NOT STATUS SYMBOLS! I can go out and buy one loaded for cash but only inbreds are that stupid, real men buy what WORKS and does so reliably, not some city boy who loves a fat cucumber up his ass to look like us real men
I have a 24 F350 Platinum best truck I have owned! I am so far getting almost 23mpg with it and 18 towing my 9k RV they said it would get better with break in. It has 2200 miles on it so lots to break in yet. I do see as well when that regen starts fuel vanishes fast. I also add Amsoil all in one with every tank and changed the oil @1k and will again @2500 not sure if that helps the MPG any but gets the break in crap out for sure. Crazy My F150 3.5 had worse MPG and it's almost half the size and weight of this. I would swear driving on the wrong side of the truck would hurt that LPH 🤣Great vid and nice truck!
Hey thanks for the props! I'm tossed on Amsoil or going with my old trusty Rotella T6 for our climate up here. It's funny you mention the F150 comparison as this video idea stemmed from a friend with one that didn't believe the economy I was getting. If it's on RUclips it has to be true right?
@@thebakeradventures Both brands are good so is Mobile1 but I have used Amsoil from the start with the F150 and others but that truck gave me no issues at all to 80k when I sold it and the bore scope showed it clean. I was shocked at the F150 for its lack luster in MPG but it was gas vs Diesel. I use 5-40w in the F350 and I live in the Adirondacks of NY so it gets damn cold. And yeah RUclips is rock engraving lmao trust it or go home!
@@Acidrain50001 I see we fall into the "adverse" driving as defined by Ford, so I am also glad to see them list the 5W40 to use then. So wish they rocked the Eco Diesel more, seems unless you wanted a Platinum King Ranch you couldn't get it in any truck.
Just think how much better it would do if all the crap was deleted and a proper tune was done!
Be really interesting to try out. Like wonder if a properly tuned truck would produce overall less emissions then one that requires the burning off of the carbon
The sponsor of this video is me 😂, Hilarious
Glad someone appreciated it 😆
Mine is also the F-350 powerstroke except I have the 3.31 gear ratio on the rear end. Slightly better economy when driving empty. Today I was driving hard with lots of city, for about 3 hours. Averaged 12.3 and that's about the worst I've done in a day, without the trailer. On a long weekend trip I am always counting on 10 flat, or mid 9's.
How many miles do you have on it now? This is why I really wanted to highlight the rear gear.
I'm sticking with my tiny bone basic '98 Tacoma 4x manual trans, roll up windows, unheated cloth bench seats, with a Garmin and a phone suction cupped to my windscreen. Most of the time I don't need to tow anything massive. I have a trailer if I need to move something x-large. If it's really xx-large, I rent something. But that's only every 5 years or so. If I had to tow cattle stock around every week, I'd get something else, but I don't.
The 03 was originally purchased as a fan of diesels and it being the smallest diesel available. So want a hilux!! The 24, well still the want for a diesel, but now we are a family of five.. I wish the Toyota would still work!!
They're both newer trucks 👎
But the 03 can drink anywhere in North America and around here can get historic plates. Wow I feel older writing that out.
Nothing beats a 2005, 7.3 diesel
That would be hard to beat for sure
Cheaper than driving my Chevy 1500 lol …that is pretty good Dan !
😆. Thanks, I think driving habits of an old man also play alot
Well one backs up ok but the other drives down ok too
Fact! One sounds mean doing it too
2003. It will survive the 60,000 mile mark
You know, in 2003/4 they would have said the same thing about the 6.0 lol
@@thebakeradventures they hadn’t witnessed the horrors of DEF yet.
Amazing point right here!
Nice...better than I thought for sure, but there is nothing wrong with supporting Canadian Oil and Gas 😀. Cheers!
😆
Neither the real answer is Duramax LBZ/Allison 1000 6 speed
🤔....... I'll give ya the Allison for half points. Actually also partial to the LBZ here too pol
In 03 some 6.0 some 7.3
But only 6.0 in the King Ranch!!
They didn’t do shit
Powerstroke lope is music.
This is the best comment to date!!!
7.3 hands down
The 6 liters were ok, sounded good, but I’d take my early 99 7.3 any day. Those new ones with the cp4 injections pumps make me nervous, I know too many guys that spent big money fixing their new 6.7s cause the pump grenaded and killed everything after it.
We are just reading up on this CP4 thing now actually. It's like when the 6.0 was new and the threat to everything was real. Hopefully by the time it all goes its either under warranty still and/or there is boat loads of aftermarket support for the 23-24 superduty
@@thebakeradventures they started using it in like 2011 or 12 if I remember correctly so there’s lots of trucks out there with the cp4, not on warranty. I know 3 guys that have had it happen, pump goes and sends shrapnel everywhere and the pump the lines and injectors all have to be replaced. Gm uses it on the duramax too.
Dodge also, isn't that why they went back to the CP3 for the recall...?
@@thebakeradventures I believe so, at one point the big 3 were all using it though I don’t recall hearing about as many disasters with the dodges. I think its failure is blamed mostly on fuel contamination so maybe the dodges used a better fuel filtering system? Who knows, but I’m not gonna risk spending that much on something that could terminate at any time.
Ya. You made me dive into it harder today, dodge had equal issues however they recalled and replaced it with the CP3. Cut their losses early.
Call me biased, but for good reason. The old 7.3l (international) powerstroke will always be better than any of its "successors". Power, reliability, and it didn't have to comply with that def bull💩.
Fact. Even the 6.0 being pre DEF makes it a winner I think
Honestly, from what I've heard, the 6.0s either went fast or they went fast (blew up). They also had a pretty wicked turbo spool. But I would consider the pre-defs a win. :)
You definitely speak alot of truths right here
The new one didn’t have the jam to back up the hill
Hahaha. The drive got out a million tomes to make sure he wouldn't hit and crash the street princess lol
Old
Both great trucks I love the 7.3 but when it comes to power it’s under the 6.7 but I choose the 7.3
What about the 6oh that's under this hood?
At least the old truck will runs forever. The new truck will fail. I sold a brand new ram 2500 to buy a 45 year old army truck and the army truck has far less problems and is way more reliable than anything modern truck I ever had.
It's always the complexity that kills the reliability!
I'm not a big Ford guy but I do like their older trucks. I think the 03 is better the 6.0 is a good engine as long as you don't start having issues with it i would do a Cummins swap but that's just me.
Never any problems with her, but always deep down thought a 12v swap would have been cool
Man the new rigs are so quiet it’s crazy. Nice trucks!
Thanks! How quiet yet powerful they are even! It is sometimes nice to hear your passenger talk eh
Old
Oversized then definitely over bloated now
I swear even the new F150s are larger then the 03 F250!!!
6.0 ain’t bad with regular maintenance and no chip, revving the piss outta it
Fact here. 451k on factory heads for this ol'girl!!
You see that 24 rolling down hill not backing up
It did back up there to get there if that helps. Didn't video the backing up because I got out way too many times because well cost... if it didn't do it it could have been expensive.
@@thebakeradventures lol giving the new school hell brother
6.0 liter lol They sound so mean
They sure do! Factory muffler even!
