    Y’all think this was a productive choice or a reductive choice? I think it was definitely a good/bad choice but I think the pros outweighed the cons. With the main pro being the stability of the empire’s frontiers while the main con is the gradual, everlasting political division between east and west.

    Surprisingly I never heard about the tulip era My country, Serbia was under the Ottoman Empire during this time and it was literally just villages and fields Unfortunately, the Eastern European part of the empire never got much love from the Ottomans because we were not muslims Serbs did not have our language in written form up until the 19th century when we separated from the Empire That is why most of the Balkans pretty much missed out on the Renaissance and even the Industrial Revolution

    The Holy League ships had more and better cannons than the Ottoman galleys. This helped to offset the numerical advantage that the Ottomans held in the battle. They could field large fleets, but not with greater tech.

    A backward slave empire that stagnated for centuries until outclassed and defeated by the Christian West and Orthodox Russia. Even during Suleiman's reign his forces suffered repeated major setbacks from European Catholic forces. Shortly after his death the Ottoman fleet was wiped out by Spanish and Venetian led naval forces. Most Muslim states today remain poor and repressive.and no Islamic country is anywhere close to being a world power. This is the product of 1,000 of aggression without technical or political modernisation and a contempt for basic human rights.

    Just remember folks! A "Byzantine Empire" is a MYTH! Such empire never existed, what you are referring as "Byzantine" was the only the Roman Empire of the East, or better said the Eastern Roman Empire! The name "Byzantine Empire" is an intention a century after Constantinople had fallen, it was invented by a german historian during 1550's!

    • @5MinuteHistories
      @5MinuteHistories 17 дней назад

      Hello! “Myth” doesn’t fully describe the context. What you are referring to is correct that the Byzantine is the representation of the Eastern Roman Empire. The term of the Byzantine empire is used to distinguish the empire from its distinct more classical era of the Roman Empire after the fall of the western empire and the history thereafter.
