🇦🇺 We're two Aussies with a passion for travelling the world. Although we are still working to fund our travels, we are counting down to retirement and dreaming of a life of slow travel. Until then, we will continue to explore as many countries as we can and enjoy the experiences that different cultures bring.
Our channel shares information on destinations, sightseeing, food and accommodations.
💸 Tanya can be a little tight with her money, so expect some great tips on travelling on a budget.
We will also be sharing our journey as we move to early retirement and slow travelling. We aren't nervous at all.....honest!
✍🏼 For years we have been documenting our travels on our travel blog (link below) but we are ready for a change. RUclips is a new adventure for us and we are sure it will be lots of fun and perhaps a little cringe worthy for our son.

Thanks ❤
Is it even a holiday if you don’t throw every plan of a diet out the window? 😂
Best thing about a holiday is trying different foods!
Great travel video thanks
@nantwichsurfer thanks. Can’t wait to share the rest of our Japan videos. We had such a great time. Hotel review next week.
Where do you source your tea from?
Hi. I love my French earl grey. I normally will get it from Elmstock or Lupica (a Japanese company). www.elmstocktea.com.au www.lupicia.com.au
Excellent packing tips Tanya. BTW, you had me at TimTams 😅
One's husband always thanks me for packing light! I have to say, the lady at the hotel loved the Tim Tams.
HI there, so great to find someone from Australia. Is that carry-on 7kg or 10kg. Thanks. We're heading over to Japan for all of November.
Hi. We had 7kg of carry on allowance. I didn't weight it but I am sure it was less that 7kg even with my laptop in it. Strangely enough, Jetstar didn't weight it when we checked in. Mind you, it was self serve international check in at Brisbane airport. I haven't come across that at Brisbane before.
By the way, forgot to say to have a fabulous trip! November is a great time to go.
looked good thanks ❤
love your packing essentials. However unable to view link to Packing app and your packing list!!!!
Hi. I’ll send my list through to you later today. The app is called Packing List. I use the free version but there is a paid one. Here’s the link apps.apple.com/au/app/packing-list/id1235121075
Just added it to the description. Here is is drive.google.com/file/d/1H5ouRRANenOIA4uMJ1oXwKelw-hKsy5q/view?usp=share_link
I like your hand luggage (carry-on bag), what brand is it? 🌸Heidi
Samsonite. Was about AUD$100. It has different compartments to make finding things easier and I like that it has a strap to attach to the handle of my suitcase so I don’t have to carry it.
@@TravelwithTanyaandSimon Thanks!
Your packing skills are amazing. My husband dreams of the day where I pack half as much 😬 🤣 I did recently buy the compression cubes from Temu, when we went to South Africa and they were great.
Funnily enough there were a couple of things I didn’t even end up using 😂 what was the quality of the compression cubes from Temu like?
@@TravelwithTanyaandSimon I found the quality good. However I would suggest buying ones that have a mesh panel. The ones I got for me didn't have one and I can't see what's inside. The ones I got the kids have a mesh panel and were much more practical.
I find that the little Vicks inhaler sticks are nice because they’re small enough to keep in your pocket. 😊
Me too. I have one of those in my handbag. I do like my run Vicks for sore muscles too. It’s probably mind over matter but I feel it helps.
Vicks inhalers are illegal in Japan. I lived there for 3 years.
I thought the inhalers that you spray were illegal but the Vicks sticks are okay as it is just hard Vicks that you sniff rather than spray. Might need to look into that.
Some excellent tips Tanya those packing cubes will be on my to buy list.
They really do help things to be organised and I like things organised 😀
TimTam shotgun yeah
What’s that skippy …… the cider is good …
And the beer and the apple pie!
You visited Mazatlán and made no attempt to learn how to properly pronounce the city’s name. It’s NOT Mazalan! There’s probably a zero chance of you being pickpocketed or being “taken by the cartel”. You made little effort to treat our beautiful city with respect. Please come back but only when you choose to do so.
We are sorry you feel that way. We loved your city and thought it was a beautiful place to visit and would return in a heartbeat.
The negative comments aren’t appreciated even to state that, “we weren’t taken by the cartel”. Facts matter.
Heading to Boston on our cruise in October. Very helpful info! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Such a great roundup of attractions in the area! We take our kids apple picking and fossicking there annually (with some sneaky foodie stops thrown in for Mum and Dad) and I can't believe I've been missing a chocolate shop this whole time! Thanks guys!
Definitely try the hot chocolate when you’re there next. So good!
bravo!that is incredible ! Travel~ ;)
Thanks so much!
Little Italy is the best!
Absolutely. So much atmosphere and the cannoli!
We pretty much do what you do, we book a lot on our own, but in some countries or ports, we stick to cruise ship excursions or just stay around the port area.
We only do the excursions if we think the country is risky, the port is far away from the city or we have a load of OBC. Exploring on our own is definitely our preferred way. Hope you found the video helpful 😀
Really enjoyed that as I’ve never been there
It’s a place well worth visiting.
This is such a great idea! Love the Granite Belt region...
It is a great guesthouse. Next week our video on the weekend in this area comes out.?
The Xmas in July looked great and the food so delicious but I didn’t hear any Christmas music for extra atmosphere. 🎉
Can’t make it too Christmasy
What's your perfect cruise length?
If you haven't been to Japan before, what would you like to know the most?
What's your most unforgettable travel experience? Was it one of ours?
Very entertaining so much to see for free
And so much more we didn’t get to.
Looks like a great value staycation😊
With all the perks it was actually really well priced.
I ❤️ the outfit Tanya! Where can I buy that dress? 😊🙏
It’s an old one. Sussans.
The Casino in the Treasury building closed today. Hotel looks lovely
Luckily the hotel is staying open. Can’t wait to visit again.
Antelope Canyon is definitely high on my list.
We’d go back there in a heartbeat!
Seeing Glaciers and the Grand Canyon with you guys was our no.1 experience. ❤
Us too!
This was really fun to watch! Definitely some bucket-list destinations there...
We are glad you enjoyed it. We had fun making it.
Thanks for sharing. ❤ I love that you guys both chose one the same. Great minds think alike. 😂
We thought there would be more than one. It will be interesting when we do our favourite cities.
@TravelwithTanyaandSimon looking forward to it. I feel somewhere in Japan may make the count maybe....
Highly probable
Keep the videos coming they are very entertaining ❤
Thank you
I ❤️ the videos! Can’t wait to see more adventures!
Thank you ❤️❤️ we are slowly improving and appreciate the feedback.
disappearing excursion passengers....happened to us in Roatan near Cozumel and again in Florence, Italy, BOTH women, the latter PRIVILEGED LADY holding us up for 45 minutes returning in tears!!....
There’s always at least one who doesn’t listen or follow instructions. So frustrating.
Hi, Im one of the "Redcoats" as you pointed out in your video, re the Harbour Bridge you don't have to do the very costly bridge climb to walk across the harbour bridge, there is a normal free pedestrian path located on the eastern side of the bridge, you can either access this path from nearby Milson's Point railway station on the north side, or from two points in the city side. Further directions can be obtained from any of the Redcoat Guides, seven days a week, 9:30am to 1pm.
Thank you for sharing extra info for our viewers and a huge thank you for the job you do helping us tourists ❤️❤️
My husband also has a bit of a potty mouth 😒😂 where’s the dynamic duo off to next? 🧐
We are currently in Stanthorpe 😀 won’t be out for a few weeks though
Forgot to say we are off to Japan in a couple of weeks! I'm also pleased to hear that Simon isn't the only potty mouth out there :)
Great place to go for a day trip beautiful scenery and lots of treats to buy.
It is. You should definitely visit.
Very cool! A great reminder for some, of the fantastic experiences available in our own backyard!
Absolutely and we only experienced a fraction of what’s on offer.
Very informative
Glad you think so!
What's happened to the ferry that runs from White Bay into the city while cruise ships are in?? From memory it's under $10.
Not sure to be honest. There was no info available for it. We were going to walk to Balmain East ferry, even though it’s a bit of a hike. A local told us it was no longer running but when we caught the ferry later on in the day it stopped there 🤷♀️ a direct ferry would be so much easier.
@@TravelwithTanyaandSimon Yeah, that's a bit slack of them. You'd think they would at least provide an option, like hiring a mini-bus for passengers to and from the harbour city area. I did a bit of searching. The discontinued ferry service was apparently privately run, and only for cruise ship passengers. The Balmain East wharf is a public transport service, and does a 'milk run' rather than a direct service. Given the relatively light demand around there most of the time, that's understandable. There are two bus routes that run from Balmain East and around Balmain Hospital to the city about every 10 minutes or so, and pass within a couple of hundred metres of the cruise terminal. However, the terminal access road looks like it's security-fenced off from the suburban streets above it, with no easy way of getting up to a bus stop. Sydney's public transport is generally good, but that's not an acceptable standard for a major cruise terminal. I know they're building a metro station nearby, but that's years away. I feel a courteous letter of suggestion to the state transport minister coming on.
@tacitdionysus3220 I read that after your question as well. It’s crazy really. We’ve only ever cruised out of White Bay before this cruise. The public ferry was still $7 each so for the hassle of walking to it I’d still just grab an Uber. I could have been really budget friendly and hit up sharing an Uber with fellow passengers but I thought that might be cheeky.
The ferry as described hasn't run for some time, however there is plans afoot to resume this service, when being the question?
The costing is super helpful, and an example of what you can expect to be eating within a certain budget is great (as we all know how crucial food is to a good trip!)
Thank you ❤️ food is definitely a huge part of our travels!
Very Informative amazing what you can do on a budget
Absolutely. Thanks for the feedback.
Hii Im from Sydney~ Going to Princess cruise next year to Cartagena too…… ur video is so helpful 👍 May I ask how much will be the taxi to the old town from the port ? And is it the traffic really bad there ?
Hi. I’m so excited for you! It is such a beautiful port. The traffic was reasonable. The wait for the HOHO bus was longer than the actual drive. It’s less than 10km between the port and old town. I believe it was around the US$10 mark. It was definitely cheaper than the HOGO bus. Looking at Uber atm it says 25K COP which is roughly AUD$10.
Are you also going to Mazatlan? We have a port stop video coming out next week with similar info on what we did.
@@TravelwithTanyaandSimon That port not in our itinerary…. But definitely, I would check ur coming post ✨✨🫶🏻🫶🏻
What a cool alternative to cattle tourism!
Absolutely. Enjoyment at your own pace with no mooing.
Haven't been to Tambourine in years - this is making me want to go back!
Such a beautiful place. We just filmed in Maleney and Montville yesterday. It will be out in a couple of weeks. Hope you enjoy it.
My kids have been asking me to come with them on their trip, this really helped my anxieties, thanks Tanya!
It really is a wonderful place to visit. I have been over multiple times on my own and have never had any concerns. So safe, cheap and interesting.
Loved this. Looks good and I love the bloopers
I’m sure there will be many bloopers in the future
Very helpful tips. Thank you!
