I heard him play the 3rd with the LA Philharmonic at the Walt Disney Hall and I can still remember taking down the elevator of the concert hall after listening him play it and me an old guy we were astonished of what we had listened to... it was an amazing experience. I remembered I jumped out of my chair to cheer him at the end of the concert. After you hear Yefim Bronfman play the 3rd you won't rate the same other piano players that play the 3rd...
Coming back to this recoding having seen Yefim again in Houston yesterday evening. Again, and always, magnificent!
I like his solid, stable playing. His sonorites convey power and exhilaration.

Tough piece. Cameraman did a bad job at the end.
Wonderful, as ever. I was fortunate enough to see Fima perform this live in Houston, and he hasn’t lost anything - in my opinion - from his landmark recording in Japan with Gergiev and his toothpick.

As always, Bronfman up to the task. For outdoors, this is very good sound, albeit with the intonation issues...not always, just mainly the horns. very enjoyable overall..after all, it's Bronfman, Rachmaninoff 3rd...what's not to like? Thanks, Mr Souza! Oh yes, the "waltz" at the end of the 2nd movement was beautifully played by all.
Bronfmans Rach 3 is a treasure and is available on DVD.
According to the Tsinandali website this concert was given on Sep. 8, 2021. The orchestra is the Georgian P.O.

I saw yefim play rach3 with the amsterdam orchestra a few days ago.they where outstanding.really unbelievable. I follow yefims tour in Europe.he plays just unbelievable perfect 🥰

I agree.
Most of the players and the conductor look very young. We can look at it this way that he is doing them a favor. I think it is important for great musicians to pass their experience to the younger generation, encourage them, and give them an opportunity to grow. However, I can say that they are out of tune. Rookie mistake.
The orchestra under Botinis (with Alexander Malofeev) was very young also, yet they played superbly. I think the problem here is they are under-rehearsed. If they DID have many rehearsals then it’s a “conductor problem”. The conductor does, however, get the right tempo at 39’50” which many well known conductors miss.

@@jeffreymiller4814 The ending can be a mess sometimes with the soloist pulling the tempi all over the place (Trifonov to name one) but here, perfect.
First-rated pianist, a legend of the Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 & 3, was unfortunately accompanied by a disappointing orchestra with an off-pitch brass/wind section and hollow sonority. It's hard on the ears....

Of Rachmaninoff's interpretations, the ones I like the most are Yefim's. This video had been made available months ago by someone else, at the time of the festival, but as I can't find it anymore, I imagine YT removed it. So I decided to share it.

Não sei te informar André. Quando eu morei em Manaus no ITEPES (R. Maromba, 20 - Chapada - Manaus) tinham alguns exemplares.
