Antics Garage
Добавлен 22 июн 2019
Welcome to Antics Garage! This channel features Sam and Brad- a father and son team of curious tinkerers who like to build random stuff in the garage.
A little welding, some woodworking, some sketchy engineering and a pinch of shenanigans. Sprinkle in some unwanted help from our backyard chickens, and it makes for some decent entertainment.
Our goal is to learn something new with every project. Hope you will too!
Feel free to look around, and thanks for watching!

Homemade Tubing Bender Dies from the CNC Plasma Cutter
We have a handy little metal bender in the shop, but it really only works well for flat bar and strap. We need to bend some tubing for an upcoming project, so we decided to make our own tubing bender dies, using the CNC plasma cutter. Is it very practical? No. Is it easy to set up? Not really. Is it easy to use? Not by a long shot. But does it work? Yes it does!
Okay, I know it's silly to assume that having a CNC plasma cutter is an easy, cheap alternative to buying a set of dies. And we agree, this is kind of a useless project unless you have access to the proper tools. However, we were just curious if stacked layers would actually produce a useable result, and it totally did! In fact, th...

Building a Slot Car Racing Pit Box!
Просмотров 14 тыс.3 года назад
Our neighbor, Dave, (the coolest neighbor ever) asked us to make him a slot car racing pit box. After doing some R&D to figure out what the heck a pit box was, we dug in. Dave provided us with the necessary dimensions for each of the compartments, so for the most part, it's made to his specifications. Using his drawing, I hopped on the computer and made a fairly in-depth set of plans to work fr...
Slot Car Racing Adventure!
Просмотров 11 тыс.3 года назад
Our neighbor, Dave, has asked us to build him a slot car racing pit box. We happily agreed, but then quickly realized we had no idea what we were doing! To get better acquainted with slot car racing, we decided to take a little field trip to a local race. Long story short- it was awesome! Not only did we learn a lot about the various types of cars, classes, and racing, but we got to look at som...

In this episode, we're FINALLY back on the Jeep project. We've sorted out most of the electrical gremlins, and we made some new heavy-duty battery cables. Also, we take a little road trip to get a tailgate from a fellow full-size Jeep enthusiast. And, we now have video evidence of Sam vacuuming! If you're working on an old Jeep, you need to visit this site: oljeep.com/ There's a lot of great us...
Custom Nintendo Switch Case from an Ammo Can!

Industrial Tractor Seat Shop Stool
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.4 года назад
We acquired a rusty antique tractor seat a while back, and have been itching to make something cool out of it. Since we needed more seating for the shop anyway, we decided to make an unnecessarily complicated shop stool! At the heart of the stool is an acme style threaded rod and nut from a leveling jack. This gives the stool some height adjustability. The structure is made from CNC plasma-cut ...
FREE GO KART PLANS! FINALLY!
Просмотров 18 тыс.4 года назад
Link to the go kart plans: www.anticsgarage.com/gokart.html We still get a lot of questions about the go kart. It's awesome that it has inspired a lot of people to try and tackle their own go kart build! While I've attempted to answer many of the questions about the dimensions of the frame, angles of certain parts, etc., it's pretty hard to give a good explanation using just a youtube comment o...
Electro Etching on Steel, Brass, Aluminum, Copper, and Stainless Steel!
Просмотров 22 тыс.4 года назад
Like most of the planet, we're stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic. So, we decided to use this time to learn something new! Join us as we dabble with the art of electro-etching on various kinds of metals. It's a very simple process, using basic materials that you probably already have in the house. We used a vinyl cutter and a small DC power supply, but you could do the same thing wit...
Making a Steel and Wood American Flag
Просмотров 7224 года назад
First off, while working on this project, our country (along with the rest of the planet) has plunged into a state of total hysteria in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. It's pretty weird and scary out there as I'm typing this, and youtube videos about artwork are probably the last thing on most people's minds. However, our United States Flag has always represented solidarity, strength, an...
Introducing our 1977 Jeep Cherokee Chief!
Просмотров 7 тыс.4 года назад
Welcome to our new project series: a 1977 Cherokee Chief! It's a little old, a little funky, a little leaky, and a little smelly, but it has a lot of potential! Join us as we dig into this old jeep, and fix what needs fixin' to get it back on the road again! This is part one of a multi-part series, but we don't really know how long it will take. We're both Jeep guys, but our only previous exper...
How to Build a Rat Rod Inspired Bluetooth Speaker
Просмотров 9484 года назад
This project has been kicking around in our brains for a while, and it finally came to life. Join us as we turn an old, defunct Lincoln welder into the "Rat Rod Jukebox". Even though we used very cheap audio components, the finished product sounds fantastic, and looks even better! If you'd like to tackle a build like this, here are some links to the components we used... Subwoofer: www.amazon.c...
Random Paddle Ping Pong Battle
Просмотров 2855 лет назад
What do you get when you mix a ping pong table, a garage full of stuff, and two guys taking a break between builds? You get the random paddle ping pong battle. We discovered two things while making this video: 1. We have a disproportionately large number of dustpans in the garage. 2. Chickens aren't nearly as competitive as you'd think. Enjoy!

Okay, we're all on a budget. But what do you do when your budget is zero? Simple! You make the things you want out of garbage. If you don't like the terms "garbage" or "trash", feel free to call them "reclaimed materials". Then you can feel hip, trendy and environmentally conscious! In this episode, we make a cajon (or box drum) out of some sketchy plywood from the trash and some leftover stuff...

Are you accepting any preorders for your tractor seat stools ?
? Did you say your stools were $19.95 + shipping?
Your tractor stool reminds me of the tractor my grandad put me on as a child to plow straight rows for him.
? What is the maximum weight allowed on your stools ?
Did you guys ever finish up? I’m restoring a 74 Cherokee and can really use some guidance. That tailgate was a nightmare!!! Good to see your video and know I’m no moron and it’s a “real problem” with these vehicles. Anyway, would love to see the rest of your project. Was really helpful so far.
Thank you for the information on pencil sharpening and on the bug spray How do you calculate the loads on the frame, and the flexion of the frame in cornering?
Really cool design. Great job!
And the burr is b2cause your holder is scratches the pipe instead to follow on it
U supose to have those dies roller so it can walk on the pipe. Thats why u need so much force. Those u groove shape supose to be rollers.
Do u build cart if I have the body for it
hello, I want to build a model and yours looks good so I can make one, but I can't access the plans via the link, can you share them please, thank you.
hello, I'm trying but I can't access the website or the link with the plans to download, it's giving an error.
That thing looks awesome! That would go perfect in my home office
one can place a metal file with the correct bend (alternatively make own file rather than buying) against a round piece of metal mounted in lathe or similar, with merely gravity and a bit of extra force from a weight placed on the file, slowly digging into it and creating the correct groove
It would work nice to find a guy like me with a big lathe to turn the finished item that could use plasma cut pieces to make the same thing for myself... 🙃 and you are 100% right, bending dies are insane expensive, and they shouldn't be... Yeah, I'm just gonna have to get a plasma cutting system guess. My friend wants to try casting scrap aluminum into center blanks and sandwiching them with steel. after seeing your approach work, I believe it would work.
The link is not working.
I used this very video last night to do some etching on coins ill be making. appreciate the video.
A tennon saw would have shed the risk separating the doors from the .ain body.
I like the concept a lot. The bender itself seems inadequate for such a tube however, it did work. Another cool tool, if you ask me.
Jesus loves you
Do you just have a parts list for the kart so I can build one for myself?🤔
stilll have the file ? UPDATE: FREE PLANS AVAILABLE NOw not working.
Very helpful, thanks for the video and explanations!
Switch the polarity for the aluminum (and maybe the brass as well) and you'll get a lot better etch. For added contrast, switch to low voltage A/C after you etch it (and before you take the vinyl off) and it'll turn it black. It works on steel, not sure on AL or any of the others. You can try a doorbell transformer for the A/C supply.
Any updates on this project?
Scam warning pops up when I click on the link for the plans...
Bro this is quality content
For some reason I can't get to the free plans.
what would be a better paint
What’s that website for the diagram mock up measurement
Send plans
I was trying to look at your plan but it looks like you website is down is there any way I can get the plans
Nice work
Loving the Father-Son time. Not enough of that in today's world. Big props to you guys for that. OK, I know I am late to the party here, but this video just inspired me to build one of these. I have some 3/8 inch mahogany panels that have been lying around for some years just waiting for a project. I think I just found one. I know 3/8 is a little thin, so I am going to build an inner frame so it doesn't collapse the first time I (Try To) use it. I am totally new to the whole Cajon thing, but it looks interesting enough to give it a go. Anyway, thanks for the inspiration. I will have to come back later and check out some more of your content. Looks like a fun channel.
Nice build... What would it cost if I wanted one of these? Thank you
1,000
Hi guys, awesome build. I really want the plans so i could do it with my son but the link is dead. Any chance to find them somewhere? or can anyone send them to me? I would really appreciate it. Cheers!
