Why do you disable hyperthreading? I'm building another build with the i7 3770k last time I got up to 4.9ghz while it was hyperthreaded running under load at 67c

Yeah I'm thinking of doing this, considering I got mine for free, I wanted to turn it into an arcade machine with a ton of emulators and roms. I've recently got onto aethersx2 and want to play burnout 3 takedown and killzone and shit, and I got it to run but have learned it's in Dore need of a new video card, the catch is to stay in this case it's gotta be low profile, and there aren't many that can fit without requiring additional power supply. It's got everything from DOS-Box to PSX emulators and roms and all play flawlessly...but the weight of having to process so much video and changing visuals when racing on burnout, it says nope and lags like a mofo

found two hp slim cases in skip- one had i5 6600 (other a 4670) sadly the motherboard can only receive 200w mini power psu so can't put it in a bigger case with full psu for decent dgpu. my i7 3770 build is still better anyway- i like intels single performance strength but when amd caught up with ryzen 3 5xxxx i went a 5700g for ps3 emulation- glad i did as i was very tempted to go with a i7 10700 or 11700 but in the long run i just got a 12c 5900x upgrade. i hate intels oblong chips that warp and its p/e cores i wonder how well they work out in practice. not a huge fan of am5 switching from chip pins given i had to fix intel bend mb pins once and its tedious! if i could just get a 3770 with 8c i would have been happy with that....

Which xeon processor you used

It is much cheaper to be cpu bottleneck than gpu bottleneck. Old systems can be bought for so cheap on the used market because most people prefer to be gpu bottleneck ;-)

he following problem arises, system: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-1620 0 @ 3.60GHz, video card, rx 580 8gb (it should be noted that the power supply is 2x 6-pin plugs in 1x 8-pin plug) the original source only has 6 pins for the video card power supply, so an adapter was used) In games it works worse than before with the old video card ( nvidia k4000) Bottleneck? That's what I thought too. but the bottleneck was before with the nvidia video card 25.7% bottleneck with rx 580 21.7% bottleneck with video card nvidia if you ask why I didn't change the source, I have a strange z420 hp motherboard, where the ATX power plug has 18 pins, not 20 nor 24. (Yes, I found an adapter from 24 pins to 18, but it came out cheaper to buy an adapter from 2x6 pins to 8 pins) Should the rx 580 not work as it should because the adapter "cuts" the power? I looked on youtube for benchmarks with my exact processor and rx 580 card and the games run fine.

This case is garbage, it has no airflow and its loud as fuck under load. That stupid plastic on the cover blocks the air vents. The engineers at Dell are morons

Why would you even consider turning HT off? You would deff wanna use HT on a CPU like that. Those chips are still very capable.

Thanks for the guide. Easy to follow. My Hisense is looked on 59,9 FPS. It has a game mode where it should be delivering 144 hz (FPS?) I dont have the option to turn on the instans game response on. I dont know why? Cheers

Now is 2024 and i have still, 10 years ago the i7 4790. 10 years and every day (!) at least 16 hours working. Arround half of this time is full strain. In the first 4 years in game mode i overclocked the cpu and the gpu-s to maximum. So arround 4 years runs this cpu in half time 4,9 Ghz stable in games man! My first card in this configuration was the Nvidia Gtx 1080. A couple of month i changed it to Gtx 1080ti... trough 3 years was my card. The next card was the Ati Radeon r9 295 X2 (you know with dual gpu) half year long. My cooling system started in this times little bit noisy and the cpu little bit warmer so i stopped the overclocking. The next vga card in this configuration was the AMD RX Vega 10 (64), a couple of years long... and after this card i was try to put a not equal generation vga card: the AMD RX 6600 in a couple of years as well. No botleneck! Works fine (but not so much faster like the gtx 1080ti... I used allways simple fullhd televisions with this PC. So everythig i have 1080 and 60 Hz... for my eyes and my briefcase it is far eonugh... my system is Windows 7 64 pro from the first times still until now (i have a hdd with Windows 10, but very instable and slow... i not use...). Mostly and usualy in game mode with vga card i was playing offline, except when the game needs online connection. In the last years without vga of course allways i am online, i play in cloud gaming. Now 2 years ago i have not vga card (i collapsed financial unfortunately because an illness), but the configuration with the old i7 4790k still works perfectly. I can use it with the Haswell integrated cpu-vga controller (Intel HD 4600 emulated vga). This have a 3d support as well (directx opengl), so i can play with old games properly, for example Morrowind, Gothic, Thief, Far Cry etc... But with new games i usualy play on the Nvidia Geforce Now online cloud gaming system. And perfectly works! This main configuratin not changed in this 10 years, only the power supply must be changing arround a year ago... The mainboard in it is the Asus Z97 Pro Gamer, memory is two 8 Gb DDR3 Kingston Hyperx modules in dual channel and with 2333 Mhz... i have also a Corsair liquid dual cooler (sadly little bit noisy now after ten years, but without overclocking it cools still properly)... So this CPU is crazy... i can watch online fullhd everything perfectly today as well... i can play perfectly with cloud gaming with it... it is unbelievable that this cpu how enduring... Unfortunately i have no money for vga card... but i plan to buy a Gtx 2080ti or an RX 6700 xt... sometimes if i will have money...

So u need to oc the motherboard an manually set Ur ram at the right speed got mine running at 3200 , 2x16gb sticks but they go up to 3600mhz think I'll be good at setting it higher after I update bios

Hi! Thanks for your help. However, I have a question.I bought a Hisense 55E7KQPRO TV which is supposed to be capable of 144 Hz. But when I set it to that there is no picture. Only 60Hz works. What is the solution? My video card RTX 3060TI (I use hdmi port 4)
