Leo is crazy as fuck, but he's right about every single thing.
Pamela Brown written by country artist Tom T Hall was a song I used to play at gigs long before I would know how true to my life it would be.
Thanks Pamela, wherever you are!
Love Leo K! His finger picking is still so cool !
Love Leo!
He’s coming to VT. Thought i’d give YT a listen. Goiung to tride to make the drive down to Rutland to see the delightful Musician. Cheers and thank you for posting!
Was not surprised when I stumbled on Leo back in the 80’s to find this song was written by the late Tom T. Hall.
There are two e strings on a guitar. There are two t's in Kottke.
Kottke! - You fools!
The voice may forget but the fingers don't.
Saw him at the Victoria Opera House Dayton Ohio I think 1973.
Please correct your title.
At the beggining of the seventies, I was about 20 years old, and I went in a guitar shop, to by my first guitar. I had some money left and I went in a record shop to by a guitar record. The guy talked to me about about a guitar player, from the USA, called Leo Kotke, and I bought Greenhouse. When I listened to the record, at home, I realised ....... and I still don't realise. Sorry, I'm french, and my english is a bit ... average.
Always loved him with 12 string.
I went to see Leo open up for Firefall. Leo couldn’t sing cause he lost his voice. They canceled the concert? The guy described his singing voice as Goose Farts and yet it stopped the show? Leo is pretty special!
The famous Tom T Hall wrote it, does it much better
Simply masterful and simply beautiful!! Thank you!
My hero of the good old days!❤❤❤❤😊
Hey Leo , I made dinner for you in Waterville Valley , NH a while ago
<3
I produced the first summer concert at the Park city resort with Gordon Lightfoot and Leo Kottke and was fortunate to spend a few days with Leo after the concert travel to Boulder, Colorado, where he played at Taloges Very fun memories thanks Leo
I saw Leo mumble his way through a down home set 25 years ago.
I had the good fortune to see Leo a few times since I first became a fan in the 1970s. One of my favorite shows was at the Hawaii Theater in Honolulu about 15 or 20 years ago. Simply fantastic.
Lucky I got a chance to see him
I walked my kids to school 😊
My Pamela Brown story goes this way, I went to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend, at the time, and came home with a guitar. That guitar, which I still own, has forever been known to me as Pamela Brown.
Saw Leo at a very small club in Ballard (Seattle) in the 90's. An amazing show and only maybe 75 people in the place!
It is wonderful to see Leo still jamming on stage, sharing his marvelous gift with audiences.
I learned from Leo that if you can go to a one man show and sit with a silent, spellbound audience for an hour and and a half, you really saw something. Thanks for all the good times Mr. Kotke.
On the original album he plays it with a slide. That’s how l learned it. My first tune on slide.
The song was written by Tom T. Hall.
In Boulder around 1980!
KOTTKE.
He would appreciate you getting his last name correctly spelled: "KOTTKE."
He wouldn't care.
There's 2 T's in KOTTKE in case no one mentioned
I have a cousin named Pamela Brown. Have you been messin around? She is pretty cute.
OK, now I have to dig out my old Leo Kotke Greenhouse album and catch up on what's been going on.with him. This video time traveled me right back to my misspent youth. Thank you Mr. Kotke for it all.
I was told always start with a low note 😊
Haven't a thing about Leo in years..one of the true greats...
Yep.
What a treat to see him still kicking it... always like his guitar style
When I was going to school in St Cloud back in the 60's he'd show up and play at the student union.
phenomenal guitar player
Seen him twice, great story teller! Besides an incredible musician!
Leo and I were in High School together for a couple of years. He and I would laugh and cut up in Music. Loved his sense of humor, always got us in trouble...Nice to see he continued his music which he loved so much. Take care old man...LOL Billie Mills
9/18/24: We’re really glad you guys cut up in Music class all those years ago. We are reaping the benefits! Thanks Leo and Crafty!
That is so cool!
For all of you acoustic guitarists who refuse to buy or own an acoustic guitar with slight run-out in the grain of the top: Check out 'ole Leo here: he's playing a guitar with slight run-out. Watch the video carefully, and you'll see it. Of course we would all prefer to have a clear guitar top with no run-out whatsoever. However, it's a fact that often times, an acoustic guitar having slight run-out can be the best sounding guitar in the entire room of guitars or music store. I currently own 4 top-shelf acoustic guitars, and 2 of em have slight run-out.........but they sound amazing.
ATTENTION ALL YOUNGER VIEWERS: 'Ole Leo is getting up there in the years. But for many years during his prime, he was the fastest & slickest acoustic 12 string player alive. He was the "Chet Atkins/LesPaul of 12 string acoustic guitar". There's a reason why Leo Kottke QUIT playing a 12 string: years ago, Leo played the 12 string so much, for so long, and with such intensity with incredibly difficult, quick, & complicated passages, that he started suffering with major bouts of tendinitis. (Tendinitis can become a seriously degrading condition that can in-turn lead to amputation if left untreated along with continuous use of the damaged tendons, which usually occurs in the wrist. ) Doctors told him he HAD TO quit playing guitar! But instead, Leo took some time off to heal, and switched entirely to 6 string guitar, which seemed to work, evidently.
Thanks for posting. I had a Pamela Brown in my life. This song always made the memory of her sweeter and all that easier to endure. Ah, the stories I could tell of the adventures I had after her, and the true love I know now in my old age. Thanks, Leo, once again. Nice to know that one of these days you might be in my town.
Saw him perform this live at the Music Hall in Omaha back in the Seventies. I won the tickets from a radio station. Had no idea who he was. Boy, did I get an education that night!
True talent - Certified Guitarist, IMO
