First, thank you for your honest thoughts. I am a huge fan of the band, have been for years now. But unlike many, I respect honest feedback and don't expect everyone to worship everything the band puts out. I will admit it is kind of samey-same because of the production on it. The live versions sound a lot better. This was the band experimenting. First time ever co-writing. They wrote and recorded songs between tours. First time really using drop tuning. First time with this producer. So it was quite a shock to many of the long time fans and kind of upset many. Lots of them were blaming the producer, but the band has full creative control over what they write and record. So they apparently liked the sound. As you said, they are young, they are still experiencing tons of things, learning lots of things, and trying new stuff. I think that is totally healthy and good for the longevity of the band. I think Angry Mike D would love their previous album. Error, produced by David Bendeth. Has a great classic rock feel with a modern sound and executed by a talented 3 piece. Great variety of styles and influences with all the songs. I would really love to hear your take on that album. As for guitar solos, they are few and far between with the band. They write and perform to serve the song, which means most of the time no solo required. When Dany does solo expect a soulful solo instead of a blistering ripper. David Gilmore is one of her inspirations and you can tell when you listen to her solos.

There are 2 guitar solos. Dany talks about both of them and learned how to play with a slide for one of them

It seemed to me to be a very consistent review, very weak and very superficial, with the exception of Bert, it seems that the other two listened to the album as a musical background while doing other things. Bert expressed a more complete analysis and breaking down each piece as appropriate regardless of whether his rating was more positive or not, he did do his homework and was very different mainly from Mike who was saying almost the same thing song after song. I listen to the album I dont know what you’re talking about. Each song has its own sound. It’s a power trio band. You’re going to hear each instrument more. The ones that did listen to the album more than once before rating this was an injustice.

just a heads up to angry mike, go watch the Teatro Metropolitan concert in Mexico City, it showcases everything they did prior to this release. You WILL NOT be disappointed

No, this is not their best work. Out of their 4 albums, this one ranks 4th place for me. There is not a single song on it that I have listened to twice. It is too fuzzed out and thin for me. Their lyrics have been very heavy and serious in the past. This album is as far from that as you can get. The production on this album is awful. It sounds thin, and far too much like everything else on rock radio. There was nothing to differentiate this album from the rest of the noise out there.

Mike D nails it! - yes every song sounds the same because every song is in drop tuning with thick annoying effects on the vocals for no reason, written in collaboration with "professionals" and over produced to glorify the producer - most of their albums have songs that are quite different one from another. they are best judged by their work prior to this album. However, this album will make money because the result is a "Taylor Swift goes hard rock sound".

I think the album is brilliant, even if I wish they had their usual stylistic variety. (For instance, there are no ballads, though the ability to write great ballads is one of their strengths.) Most of my favorite songs, like Sharks and Consume, on the album were among your lowest ranked. As for the guitar tone, I love it. I’m a fan of bands like Earth, Sunn O))) and My Bloody Valentine, so that super-low sound is right up my alley.

I love the album. Will be seeing them playing live in Brooklyn twice, in September.

Hey Guys! I really like your honest review, for a one or two listens of the album. I have been a fan of The Warning since their second album came out in 2018 (And I did love their cover of Enter Sandman back in 2014, and thought, I need to keep an eye out for these sisters). As a longtime fan, I also thought they could have gone a bit less on the post production, effects on guitar and vocals, etc. (I sort of agree with Angry Mike D that there is bit too much of the overdriven fuzz guitar, but it's not typical in their full catalog as a whole) But, that said, these sisters are the best songwriters of their generation, and this album is them exploring more and also the first time adding other songwriters to the mix. I suggest two things to you all: 1) Listen to their older albums (Error, Queen of the Murder Scene, XXI Century Blood) and watch the live performances from their YT channel. Their second Album, Queen of the Murder Scene, is a concept album that tells a dark story, and it's a modern rock masterpiece. And they were only 18, 16 and 13 years old when they released it! 2) They are better live than in the studio. Watch their live performances from their YT channel, Especially their concert from Teatro Metropolitan CDMX!!. I am 57yo and a rocker since birth, and they are best band I have heard in decades. I have seen them 5 times live (I even flew to Mexico to see them in Cancun) and have tickets for 2 more times this year. They are amazing live! Rock On Guys!!

When you review an album and you say there are no guitar solos when there are two tells me you didn't listen. Satisfied and Consume have guitar solos. Listen to it again and get back to me. 🙄

I think the album was written to accommodate his voice issues and will progressively get faster as he heals and I do feel sambora is coming back he and phil together would be great and his vocals would help jon out tremendously

Until about 4 years ago, Cardiacs were possibly the best kept musical secret, more of a band's band . . . truly genius stuff that the likes of Mozart or Bach would probably have come up with if they had lived for another 200+ years

It's another turgid album from a band that lost it's way a decade or more ago. The songwriting is lackluster and at this point it could be any bog standard average rock band.
