Yes you played your role. Acknowledgment of that is great. Do not let the guilt from other people’s decisions weigh you down. Forgive yourself. There is always a choice for people. Sometimes we influence those choices but somebody was influencing you. Brutal cycle. Demons are real. God is real. Knowledge and wisdom are pretty expensive sometimes. I speak from experience.

Addiction to drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex etc is not a disease. It's a mental/spiritual/self discipline problem that is complicated by the vicious cycle of physical craving/reward system. You can't quit a disease like liver failure, cancer, MS, cerebral palsy,childhood leukemia etc. But you can quit the previously mentioned negative behaviors. Ask any incarcerated addict who cant get his herion. But throw a diabetic(an actual disease) in prison without his treatment and see what happens. Calling addiction a disease makes the addict, like a child with leukemia a victim, (popular in todays mentality), that it's no fault of their own. BS. If you were raised in a middle eastern muslim country with absolutely no access to alchohol would you still be an alcoholic? Would you still die with out it or from it? Of course not! Know why? Because its not a disease! Period. Full stop, as they say. There is absolutely no scientific evidence to support that theory. It was created by "uncle ..." as a way of convincing drunkards they needed his special brand of medical help and to excuse his own bad behavior to avoid scorn and condemnation which was prevelent at the time. Does addiction suck, is it hard to kick? Yes but can be done especially if you accept responsibility for YOUR BAD BEHAVIOR and dont blame it on a birth defect. Spinal Bifida is a birth defect, learning to drink, do drugs in excess when you are older isn't. God bless all those who struggle.

It's actually all of the suburbia kids who have parents that are also strung out on something. I've never seen addiction problems like when I would go hang out with my rich friends.
