Добавлен 28 авг 2023
Eleven11Outdoors reviews outdoor gear from the perspective of decades of outdoor experience. This channel is focused on multitools, knives, flashlights, and many other types of outdoor gear. It is intended to introduce my friends to gear that they may find essential to their edc and outdoor adventures. It is my hope that these videos will assist people in discovering new gear. Ultimately, I want to help others get a good look and an honest review of gear that I have found useful in my own adventures. Thank you so very much for watching my videos.

That is so gorgeous!!! I recently took interest in making primitive tools like that, although I’m not near as good as you! By the way, the Ganzo knife is treating me amazing! I’ve been carrying it almost everyday since it arrived.
@@BlaiseMerle thank you so much my friend! I appreciate the compliment! I love making knives, primitive, modern…..I like making all kinds of blades. Lately I have been having fun making primitive ones. I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying the Ganzo! It truly is a great knife!
The top 3 morakniv are 1. Forest, 2. Robust, 3. 748MG.
That's a modern tactical pugio. I contend that, depending on the materials and construction, it IS practical.
@@KageNoTora74 you and I think alike. And after putting through a lot of use, it is extremely capable for its intended purpose.
If that had a wave style file instead of scissors I’d by one.
@@e.s.l5861 that’s a great idea. That would be very useful. I rarely use my scissors, but a lot of people love them. These knock off tools are getting better and better every day. They make a few models, even a Surge style with the file/saw receiver. Might look into that one, it is interesting. If you would like to see a video on that model, let me know. Or any model for that matter. Thanks for the comment! And thank you for watching my video!
@ of coarse, thanks for posting, I enjoyed it. For scissors I carry a SAK for the mini pliers, scissors, and PLUS tools. I do though often end up using the ones on my MT’s though. Over the last month, I’ve been using the Gordon wave clone in place of my surge and my folding/locking blade knife. I have been blown away by its quality. I don’t know if I just got a good one, but the fit/finish/ grinds are great, even the edge retention on the knife blade is pretty good. And the scissors cut paracord like it’s nothing and the bronze bushings make it super smooth The little 8yr old girl who probably threw mine together did a great job haha
@@e.s.l5861 I will have to look into that tool. Not too familiar with that brand. Thanks for the intel. I use my scissors occasionally but not near as much as some of my friends do. For many of my friends quality scissors are a must for their multitool.
If you work with thread or fishing line they come in super handy, as long as they are good. I do a lot of Backpacking, and tend to use my Swisschamp’s to open small packages, for like food. Could do it with the blade but the scissors are a bit safer for little stuff, especially when far out
@ that’s when I use the scissors the most……when I am fishing, or cutting a fine thread that I don’t want to risk pulling.
What’s your impression of the Victorinox multi tools? Build quality and finish I think are better than LM but I find the LM toolset to be better as a blue collar worker
@@e.s.l5861 I love Victorinox the Spirit is an excellent tool for sure. I have many friends that prefer it over Leatherman. I personally prefer leatherman, but I have many Victorinox that I enjoy carrying from time to time. They are super high quality and very reliable. I do agree, I prefer the toolset on the Leatherman for most every day tasks.

I like the P2, P4 and love the Arc.
@@mrc2205 the FREE series in general is absolutely innovative. I fell in love with the design immediately. It is SO much more intelligent and intuitive than all other platforms. Some people disagree, but I credit that to people not liking change and familiarity with previous designs. The free series is literally the only architecture that does not have a clone or knock off version. This is because it is more complex. You can get a cheaper clone of waves and surges (and they get better every day) yet I have not seen any FREE knock offs. I am sure someone will figure out how to do it eventually…..but it is interesting that they have not done it yet. The P2, the P4, and the ARC are also my favorites. To me they define a more refined technology and I believe they are the future of multitools. For some people, using the design one time is all it takes for them to see the advantages. I carry my ARC everywhere I go. And that’s not going to change any time soon. Thanks for the comment. And thank you, so much for watching my video!
Where’s all the testing
@@modelmisfit when I started this channel, I had to decide what would make this different from other channels in this genre. The idea behind the channel initially was to give people a look at gear that I found valuable in my adventures. There are MANY channels like mine. And hours of footage of people hacking through cardboard….cutting perfectly good rope, or just destroying a piece of equipment by using it in a manner that no intelligent person would ever do. I work in engineering and one rule is bedrock- do not complicate unless absolutely necessary. Keeping my videos simple, to the point, and not wasting people’s time watching me hack through all the material I go through to prove to myself that a piece of equipment is worthy of my friends time was the initial idea. And this is the first comment in almost 80 videos anyone has asked to see the grunt work. I expected to hear this sooner…..but no one has asked for it. So, the question is…..do I complicate my process? Do I post all of that content in a format only subscribers see? If I were to hear this comment frequently then I would have already added that footage. But I have not. There are literally dozens of channels similar to mine that show all of that over and over. Ultimately, this channel is for you guys. This is your channel too if you are a subscriber. If you want to see that type of content, then I am more than happy to provide it. Ultimately, I am a tiny channel. I am Learning all of this in real time. I work two jobs and have four children. My time is valuable and I truly believe that your time is valuable as well. I will add a video with all of the testing and we will see if it does better than my previous process. If it does, then I will adopt it as part of my format. Thank you for your comment. You have given me a lot to think about. I appreciate your time and thank you for watching my video!
@ I completely understand I definitely do what I would maybe suggest is not while swaths of testing just a few small shots of some of what you did. And I absolutely don’t mean you have to destroy a tool to please those ppl they are chaos tourists. They are hoping it fails. For me I would like to know what their heat treat of D2 did in testing. Did it roll the edge, dull the edge if so was it hard to resharpen. And so on. Lol but thank you very much for the concise reply.
@ I’m giving your comment a lot of thought. And I think you may be right. I will definitely experiment with this and please feel free to give me any advice or critique……I honestly appreciate the feedback. Thank you again for your advice. It is very appreciated.
@ it’s all about positive, looking back my comment was a bit dry. And I guess my bias was showing that or the fact that it’s almost ubiquitous throughout gear reviewers. And maybe the fact that you didn’t threw me off a bit. But maybe it’s good you don’t idk. Maybe poll the audience. I appreciate you and apologize if my comment fell wrong.
@ no apology necessary. I accept all forms of critique….negative, positive, I take it all in. I want to provide my subscribers with my individual insight on things that I personally find valuable. If there is any way I can improve upon this process, then I want to know. I did not take your comment as negative. I looked at it as an opportunity to better my content creation. And that is ultimately what I want. I want to provide my subscribers with truly valuable information that helps them make wise decisions. I look at my channel as a community and a community is only strong if we communicate with eachother. I value your opinion and the opinions of all of my friends here. @@Jimbonj thank you! I appreciate the compliment. I see a lot of channels racing eachother to post videos on all the new releases. I feel a lot of really good gear gets lost in the background. I try to bring my subscribers the best information they can get to make the best choices in their gear selections. Sometimes that means taking a step back and recognizing that a tool has proven itself to be worthy. I mentioned this tool to a group one day and was surprised how few of them had really given it a shot. New gear is cool, but time tells us whether a design has staying power. I feel the Powerpint has done that. Thanks for the comment. And thank you very much for watching my video!

What's your opinion on the file? Perhaps I got a lemon, but mine seems dull compared to leatherman or victorinox standards. I really want to like this tool, but that kinda ruins it for me.
@@jenswurm the SOG Powerpint is a very small tool. The file is only about 1 3/4in long and fairly narrow. It is far from the best file I have used but not too bad for such a small platform. I used it to take the burr off of a piece of steel I was working on and it did fine for its size. But you are correct, it is not Leatherman or Victorinox quality. For a tiny tool at the thirty dollar mark, I think it is just fine. Thanks for the comment and question. I really appreciate you watching my video!
@@FloydCotton-hx4jh Thanks for your reply! I think the price point is really important. Here in Germany it's difficult to get it for less than 55€, and at that same price you can get a Leatherman Rev or a Victorinox Handyman, so i feel that at least in my local market it also has to compete with these in terms of build quality.
@ this is a great point. You are absolutely correct. I am in the United States, so it is a very different market here. Price is very important and weighing your options is absolutely the wise thing to do. I appreciate your perspective and I thank you for sharing it with me. I also would like to thank you for watching my video!
How about those huge holes in the saw and especially the file, aren't they bothering? The Wave that i have has more uniform file. Quite wise words about the steel quality. I tend to cut mushrooms with the knife, so any metal except mercury would do the job. I secretly admit though that the super steel fascinates me some bit... I like that they left off the hole from the awl for extra strength. I doubt anyone has ever sewn with the awl. Poking holes and scraping are the jobs it has to do. I like the scissors too. Over all, this seems a good set of tools. I don't know why they rejected their good peculiar multi-purpose can and bottle opening tool that also had a wire stripper, and put the boringly common dedicated can opener instead? It's not more effective in the task, and as the cans usually have an opening clip nowadays, the dedicated opener gets quite useless. It should definitely have those extra functions in it to be justified.
@@Heikki_Finland thank you for the comment and questions, I appreciate your time. The holes in the file and saw have never given me any problems. There is plenty of file space to never really notice the hole. And with the saw, it isn’t an issue. I would rather have a one handed opening system than a nail nick platform for sure. Steel is a funny thing. Most people do not realize that steels are a collection of elements in powder form that can be modified in so many ways. And there is no real regulations defining the composition of any particular recipe. That’s why we have knives that are stamped with the same identity that behave differently. I have used the awl to sew. A few times actually. I have repaired tarps and sails, I have attached rigging to kayaks and structures. It is useful, but you may be right…..only to a rare few individuals. The can opener drives me crazy. The old talon-style can open was SO much more functional. You and I absolutely agree on that.
