It isn't like any other 'tech' is mechanically complex to execute? Hold heavy attack with dagger to run fast, easy.. Tap quell between primary fire, easy.. Throw a dagger to skip gun animations, easy.. Use force sword push to gain uncanny stacks, easy.. The point of tech is to understand a nuance in the game mechanics and leverage that for significant advantage by adjusting your mechanical actions. It isn't intuitively obvious that sweeping over targets three times per second will apply the same stacks as holding still on a target (sweeping doesn't work at all with the primary fire). Without actually testing with the debuff indicator mod a newer player would not know, so the point of this short clip is to save them the time with a quick demonstration proving the mechanics.

They are light 1's with quell canceling. At 25:39 I do a proper l1 > h2 combo, followed by l1s.

@@infrared6973 If you want to apply maximum soulblaze stacks then you want your crosshair to move over every target within 15m roughly 3 times per second. If you want to maximize direct damage to a particular target then you should keep your crosshair on them. Given that most of the inferno staff's damage comes from the dot, you'll generally want to be sweeping over all targets most of the time.

Yup, we're working our way towards that. Just watching some of your vids actually. It is interesting to see a well played low warp rez Purgatus to contrast with my high warp rez approach.

@@mattcampanale2594 @Daskard Yeah, Custom HUD, Numeric UI, Better Buff Management, and HUD Tweaker (that's the main one changing the appearance of things). And a handful of crosshair mods, with a hack on peril gauge to change crosshair to peril color. I just uploaded a zip of my mod folder and settings file to my discord in the mod channel if you want to see exactly how anything is done.

They certainly gave blaze away a very generous implementation for the Purgatus. Actually, if you look at the buffs you'll see that I keep full stacks between most casts by chaining minimum charge ups. Having 100% uptime on 40% power is crazy strong.

@@shotgunammo it is often mistakenly believed to be so, imo. It doesn't scale well, but it is still more useful than quell speed.

@@MeowBeep_ I have the slight feeling this will get patched in a couple weeks. The blessing itself just doesn't make any sense on the weapon. Constantly 40% damage for a weapon that doesn't even have a magazine is not going to end well.

@@randomguypi-uf2jc I'm running it with warp nexus. By my theory crafting it's the next best blessing to increase overall dps, and crits proc a few useful talents.

@@infrared6973 Running the Deimos is certainly a trade off. DS4 is absolutely the better melee weapon in a vacuum, and in pretty much every other Psyker build. But Deimos letting you instantly get to high peril has such a big impact on how well the Purgatus plays that I think it is worth it.

@@prozlayer87 Yes, it is the soulblaze stacks. I'm using Debuff Indicator mod to show it, with the settings set to use colour coding instead of full written labels.

@@prozlayer87 Because toughness isn't an issue for me. It is a good swap for wildfire if you are struggling with maintaining 100% toughness though. If you mean why don't I take soulstealer instead of quietude, it is because quietude lets you control when you get toughness which is more useful.

Thank you. Dagger zealot really is the best training for the hyper mobility required on psykers to really shine. That's a really interesting suggestion about Empathic Evasion, I will try it out for sure. My first thoughts before trying it out are: Wildfire is a curious pick, it won't go above a 4 stack cap when applying, and it doesn't have a great range, so it is fairly limited and could really use some sort of buff. However it does have a couple of useful effects. When playing with another psyker that is applying soulblaze, whoever applies the first stack will determine who's damage multipliers and effects are applied to that stack. Because most other psykers aren't sitting at max peril, and aren't using uncanny strikes to get through the massive carapace damage reduction it can be pretty frustrating when they get the first stack on a nasty pack and the fight becomes that much harder. So wildfire functions to counter all that a bit, as it will frequently be the first stack applied. Then there is the exponential(ish) scaling of soulblaze damage, meaning that if you apply 6 stacks and go from 4 to 10, rather than 0 to 6, you'll get a fair bit more damage. But yeah, mostly it is useful when playing with other psykers, so if you're the only one the evasion becomes even more appealing. Dodging ranged attacks is a bit iffy whether it is needed. Shrieking at a pack of gunners will stagger them all out to 30m, then following up with a purga channel will suppress everything except shotgunners. It is mostly ranged enemies that can be suppressed. So with enough aggression you can push in and lock down many gunners relatively safely, especially with a fair bit of sliding and dodging to avoid their damage otherwise. It would probably make the most difference when fighting a large pack of shotgunners, as they don't get suppressed and can delete your health surprisingly quickly. And in the Orthus Offensive I can see it being really strong, that fight was pretty tight. One question, how effective is it for melee safety? ie, does it stop being one shot by the overhead attacks? @@MeowBeep_ Thanks for the detailed explanation on Wildfire, that makes sense! Would love to give uncanny Deimos a try, currently my go-tos are the Combat Blade Mk VI or Dueling Sword MK IV with purg. Being able to very quickly increase peril is something I've been lacking in my purg loadouts so far. I agree dodging ranged attacks shouldn't be a huge thing most of the time, there's no substitute for proper positioning and awareness along with 6 blaze stacks shriek being able to clear out entire rooms of shooters. Empathic Evasion really shines in hectic situations though where you might be caught by surprise packs of shotgunners and shooters in the middle of dealing with hordes and such. It helps buy time to create space, reposition, wait for cooldowns (regain dodges, stamina, ult). EE does not affect melee attacks at all, so if there are both melee and ranged threats focusing me, I may often choose to focus first on kiting and flaming away the melee while readying myself to deal with ranged if I otherwise can't yet. I can pretty much reserve my dodges for melee/specialist attacks if there's a group of 5+ to burn, especially on high peril. It's called quell cancelling. If you hit quell between each left click they can go off much faster.

It is the build I use for everything, this video was just to show it works well in melee only too. - Wildfire isn't great, you could usefully swap it out for Soulstealer for some more toughness regen or Kinetic Resonance for faster BB after ult. - Assail can work well too, it is a variation I play often and enjoy. The real advantage of going through BB is getting Psykinetics Aura to reduce yourself and teams cooldowns. - I use my melee weapon in certain situations. Killing charging mutants, killing crushers after dotting them up, blocking and aoe pushing in hordes, finishing off specials sometimes, and charging special without using it for peril gain before dropping shriek to 6 stacks. - Deimos rather than Illisi in this build because it is better at fighting crushers, has better mobility, and is faster at building uncanny stacks with the special. Illisi is good when your staff lacks horde clear. - I actually like Superiority because it gets stacks from soulblaze kills, and persists well through weapon swaps, but Unstable Power, Slaughterer, and Deflector are all pretty good too.

Good question, I wondered the same thing but it turned out they still count as carapace for weapon perk dmg buffs even after charging. At least it did at the time of recording this clip.

Mettle > Perfect Timing > Assail > Quick Shards (or Ethereal). Seer's Presence > Venting Shriek > Creeping Flames. Kinetic Deflection. Warp Rider. Warp Siphon > Essence Harvest > In Fire Reborn > Warp Battery. After the first balance patch I might make a quick guide video to the build explaining my reasoning for each of the choices and explaining some of the gameplay tech that makes it shine.
