A selection of short films taken on my travels around Scotland.
The most recent were taken using a Canon R6 4K camera but a few other devices such as phones have been used as well.
There is also an edited selection of 8mm colour cine film taken by my late father between 1957 and the early 1980s. Most of the film consisted of family days out but there are a few little gems of events and places that are now of historical interest. The camera in question was a clockwork (yes you wound it up) Kodak Cine camera.
I am slowly updating these cine film clips to versions that were professionaly scanned and are of better quality.

Kings Park is one Glasgow's many public Parks. It was formally a private estate. In 1930 Glasgow council accepted the offer of Aitkenhead House and 68 acres of surrounding parkland as a gift to the city, this became the park you see today. In the 1980's Aikenhead house was converted into private flats.

Maxwell Park is one of Glasgow's smaller parks at just 21 acres. Filmed in April 2024 with flashbacks to 1962 and 1963. See the impressive summer planting of the 1960's and the floral display to commemorate the last days of Glasgow's Trams. Sadly, the park is only a shadow of its former self but still a pleasant place for a walk on a sunny day.

Loch Ness contains more fresh water than all the Lakes of England and Wales. Its deepest point is 226m (744ft). What mysteries might it hold? Filmed on 3rd September 2022 on the east shore.

Filmed on a rather blustery day in early September 2022. Had the weather not been so windy we might have got futher out in to the Moray Firth. The only wildlife spotted was was one wee lonely seal. The bridge is a 1km long cable stay bridge opened by the Queen Mother in 1982. It is one of the few bridges in the UK that includes siesmic buffers in its contstruction to accomodate for its proximit...
Culbin Forest. Moray, Scotland, 4K

A walk through Culbin Forest on the Moray Coast on a late summer day. Culbin was planted by the forestry Comission in the early 1920's as a means of stabilising the sand dunes along the coast. It consists of mainly Corsican and Scots Pine. There are several car parks along its 8 mile length along the coast and lots of walking trails to explore. The 2024 Neilston Agricultural Show, Scotland, 4K

Filmed on the 4th May 2024. The Neilston show is one of the longest running agricultural shows in the area, coming up for 200 years. It takes place on the first Saturday of May every year in a field just outside Neilston. A great day out for all the family.

A day trip north from Glasgow to the most Westerly point on the Island of Great Britain. See Glencoe at its best on a perfect spring morning. A round trip of just over 300 miles on roads not yet busy with tourists.

The new Caledonian Macbrayne car ferry launch at Ferguson Marine shipyard in Port Glasgow. She can carry 852 passengers and 127 cars and will serve the Island of Arran on the Ardrossan to Brodick route

A visit to Grampian Transport Museum in Alford, Aberdeenshire. A small Museum but packed full of all sorts of Vehicle large and small. Then on to Duffus Castle via Dufftown and ending on the Moray Coast at Burghead where you might just spot some of the regular Dolphins you see there.

My mother lived in Kessock road long before they built the bridge. The views from her window were really lovely , right down the firth and out towards the sea, with the Black Isle on the left and the ferry boats chugging back and forth. I remember that one of the ferry boats was called Eilean Dubh - Black Isle. Sadly the bridge completely blocks that view now and of course those wee ferry boats are long gone.
Happy memories living in Dunoon in the 70's.
The park looked much better in 1962. I think that was you in the yellow bonnet sledging 😊

Noisy? The MV Loch Bhrusda currently on the Largs Cumbrae crossing with its 36l V12 diesel can be heard right across the firth. The current IoW Griffons are quieter.
Yes I know it by its sound lol but the SRN6 used a jet turbine and was even louder if thats possible 😁
@@donaldwhI sat by the HMS Seaforth monument on Gt.Cumbrae yesterday for a while. The roar of vehicle and industrial noise coming across from Largs downed out the sound of the waves gently lapping at the shore. A modern hovercraft would not disrupt the "peace" of the Clyde nowadays, that is long gone ifit was ever a thing. I suspect the objections were more a dislike of the witchcraft machine than any real disruption to lives.
