This city was born about a decade ago, when i was introduced to the world of animation with the Flipnote Hatena Studio, a nintendo Dsi software for basic 2d flipbook-like animation. I thought that animating destruction and and making stick figures suffer was fun, and I actually succeded in getting alot of fans, subscribers and worldwide features in the once thriving social network.
Now, several years after flipnote hatena closed, the videos remained in youtube (since nintendo left the option to upload all your animations to youtube before closure). They gained views and with years, followers. Now Im attempting to reboot Joystick City, with higher quality in animation and meaning.

This project focuses on the theory of divine beings that have intervened in the cultural and spiritual process of the Costa Rican pre-Columbian society.
The ancestral knowledge of the stone spheres that have been found in the south of Costa Rica was related to the mythology of its time. Thus achieving meaning to the archaeological mystery of these spheres, represented in a monumental zoetrope inspired by pre-Columbian art and created with all modern digital modeling, animation and 3D printing processes.

Another rare natural disaster happened in Joystick city. This time it was stronger than any other disaster. A 10.7 earthquake stroke, barely leaving any building on stand. As many of You know, flipnote hatena is closing soon, so this is my last flipnote ever in my DSi. Hope you like it (:

On a very dark day at Joystick city, climatological conditions creat the perfect ingredients for an F5 tornado. Bringing destruction to Joysticks's suburban areas. The sirens rang, but for some stickfigures... Was too late. I hope you enjoy this Flip i put alot of effort on it. Thank you :)

Finally the year finished and the rumor for the end of the world passed and nothing of course happened. Joystick city with all its destruction and massive natural disasters survived to 2013 perfectly and happily. It celebrates its joy with fireworks and lights. Happy new year! 2013! This is officially the first flip I post (besides Mario kart flips) without destruction. hope you like it.

Its Christmas time in Joystick city and a big earthquake strikes without warning. Of course there was not much damaged as Joystick city is a very prepared country just like Japan and this kind of earthquakes are very often. The World-flip center is getting taller at the center of the city.

In a normal day in Joystick city, Mnt. Joystick erupts with a big earthquake. The skies turn red and rocks and stones fall from the sky creating chaos in Joystick city. Besides the little destruction, the second world-flip center is being built at the center of the city.

Joystick city is visited by a missile robot. This robot is programmed to target structures.Small buildings were fired, as well as the governmental palace and a big building. At the end, the power plant is fired causing a black out in Joystick city.

When I was a kid my family had a New Year's ball on the roof of the house next to mine inspired by the one in Times Square there were five different versions of the ball 1980-1985 the ball had 50 white bulbs in 1981 it turned into an apple we took out the white bulbs we put red ones and put the stem on top we had to put a sign under the numbers on top of the screen saying: That's an apple up there! to prevent people from mistaking it for a cherry 1987-1990 the lights were improved 1999-2008 the bulbs were replaced with LED lights 2008-2010 We decided to make a new structure made of glass triangles😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Holy shit this video was my childhood. I was obsessed with tornadoes and this video “blew” my mind as a kid. I would legit watch a full disaster movie animated like this.
