I like to keep the interview light and fun so the other person feels like they can trust you and they open up more. They also show their true character more easily which makes me judge them better in the end. Because when the interview is light like that the applicant lowers their defences a bit.

I find it odd that letting go of a victim mentality is coupled with an apathy towards racism and injustice on the basis of race. Almost like this is an excuse for those who prefer the racist system and want nothing to change.
