    I recently did an Emma Stone marathon as well (though I did skip Marmaduke, the Croods and Movie 43)! She is also my favorite actress. Especially her post Easy A career has been incredibly strong. I think she really reached the next level with that movie. Then post Birdman she went beyond next level imo. It's been fun to see her grow as an actress. She is consistently the best part of every movie she is in and always gives it her all! My favorite performances are probably Cruella and La La Land. But The Favourite, Poor Things and Birdman are really close. Her performances in Easy A, Crazy Stupid Love and Paperman (not a very popular movie, but I found her incredibly charming, heartfelt and adorable in this) are also pretty much S-tier for me. I'm so proud my favorite actress is a 2-time Oscar winner now!

      @hopsfd She has had one of the craziest careers of the younger actors currently in Hollywood. I don't blame you at all for skipping the Croods, 43, and Marmaduke though hahaha

    Thx for liking my comment. Anyway, heres a pie recipe. Crust 1 box (14.1 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Pie Crusts (2 Count), softened as directed on box Filling* 6 cups thinly sliced, peeled apples (6 medium) 3/4 cup sugar 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 tablespoon lemon juice Bake with Pillsbury pie crust. Heat oven to 425°F. Place 1 pie crust in ungreased 9-inch glass pie plate. Press firmly against side and bottom. In large bowl, gently mix filling ingredients; spoon into crust-lined pie plate. Top with second crust. Wrap excess top crust under bottom crust edge, pressing edges together to seal; flute. Cut slits or shapes in several places in top crust.Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown. Cover edge of crust with 2- to 3-inch wide strips of foil after first 15 to 20 minutes of baking to prevent excessive browning. Cool on cooling rack at least 2 hours before serving.

    I’m glad you loved EEAAO and CODA . I always hold my breath when people talk about those two. I just love them both. I don’t begrudge Robert Downy Jr an Oscar but he’s definitely fifth place in that lineup for me. The least interesting and memorable of the five .

      @kellie-nd1yp They truly are two fantastic films! EEAAO will always be a favorite of mine. The longer this past years ceremony ages, I think Ruffalo and Gosling were so much more memorable than Downy Jr. I'm not upset him as a person won though. Also thanks for the comment on my other video!!

      Also who doesn’t care about The English Patient? Its one of the most deserving best picture winners of the 90s! I remember that film winning over commercial faves like Jerry Maguire and Fargo. It won 9 Oscars! The novel was so good and one of the most difficult to adapt! We care about this film! Oh i miss Anthony Minghella!

    Re The Return of the King - you obviously haven’t read the books, the endings aren’t fake, it’s exactly how it plays out in the books - in fact, after the final epic battle, there’s yet another adventure for the hobbits back at The Shire You might say well PJ didn’t have to follow those aspects of the books - but for those of us that are also passionate about the books totally appreciate it. But even if you’re not a fan of the books, I think those multiple endings make sense because this is the the ending of a massive epic 3 x 3 hour long movies - you can’t just do a simple happily ever few minutes wrap - after being so long with these characters and their mission, I want to be with them for every single moment that can be squeezed out at the end. And every ending has a point to it, - after Frodo and Sam finally destroy the ring, it leads to the volcano erupting and of course they have to get saved - and then it’s wonderful and so happy when we see the fellowship reunite when Frodo wakes up, it’s beautiful to see Aragorn come into his own as King and re-reunited with his love and the people in celebration and honouring the hobbits. It could have ended there, but this movie is not just a superficial good against evil tale - it shows that once the hobbits are back at The Shire, they realise they are no longer the same hobbits that they were before and it’s going to be difficult for them to re-adjust back to the simple life. Very much how it must be for soldiers who return from war. Especially for Frodo he is irreversibly scarred - so it makes sense for him to leave The Shire and go with Gandalf Into the West. Of course we need to have another tear filled leave taking as he leaves the other hobbits! Finally we have the beauty of Sam returning to his wife and children and you see how important it is for Sam to have his love and peaceful life, because many would say that he is the true hero. After all the pain and suffering the characters have been through they deserve a drawn out ending! Even the several fake deaths of Frodo occurred in the books too! In my opinion all three of these movies belong in the masterpiece category!

    Cillian Murphy - his performance was next level. I left Oppenheimer speechless by his extraordinary, visceral, powerful, internalised performance. Robert Downey Jr - it was so cool to see Robert play different layers from what we usually expect & ultimately becoming the antagonist. Brilliant! Lily Gladstone - her poised, simmering calm, emotional strength just floored me. She’s the conscience & heart of the film. Da’Vine Joy Randolph - I thought her role was heart wrenchingly real & she just felt like so many women I know. She had the most compelling storyline in The Holdovers. Oppenheimer (for Picture, Adapted Screenplay, Score, Sound, Editing, Cinematography) - My favourite film of 2023 by far. I think it’s one of the greatest films ever made.

    Good prediuctions! With women directing 3 of the likely Best Picture nominations - Barbie (also biggest box office), Anatomy of a Fall and Past Lives, if none of them get in that will be very, very bad for the Academy. Supporting Actress is very open for 2 of the slots - it could be any of those on your list of 10. Hoping Saltburn gets at least 1 nom - it seems to be #6 on a lot of peoples predictions in multiple categories. I'll be REALLY sad if it is completely shut out

      I think Saltburn's best chance is screenplay if the Academy really disliked May December. May December is my favorite movie of the year, so I hope that doesn't happen. I agree it will look very bad if a woman doesn't get a direction nod. I'm kinda starting to think Gerwig might miss and they'll do both Glazer/Triet

    Scream is ok I think it’s a decent franchise But to be fair the main idea from the original Scream is very basic. Atleast 2 killers going after ppl and they’re not revealed until the end. Which is why it’s easy to keep a consistency with each sequel, despite each sequel being unique from one another, Other horror franchises have a bit more complicated plot in their first movie before sequels, which is why it’s harder to keep it up But I applaud Scream for not letting that “Scary Movie” franchise stop them from going. I was worried scary movie ruined Scream

What would you say is your favourite decade? I though the 1970s was absolutely incredible

    • @WizKlafka
      @WizKlafka Год назад

      @dandelves I have not seen either of those yet, but Ordinary People did stand out when I was looking ahead! I think the 40s was my favorite so far with Casablanca, The Lost Weekend, Rebecca, and The Best Years of Our Lives all being fantastic. The 50s had some boring, long, drawn-out films that drag it down and the 60s had too many musicals for me personally. I think the 70s is the decade I'm looking forward to the most (Godfather part 2 and Cuckoos Nest are two first time watches im really excited for), but I know the 90s has some I love as well.
