WM 307: O'Donnell Article Review: The Resurrection & Mark's Ending
When Machen found that his seminary students had not read the Iliad in Greek, he didn't stop teaching the NT in Greek but published a grammar for his Greek students which is still in print.
Tischendorf was a rationalist liberal who wanted to promote a gospel where the resurrection of the Lord was left out of the text. The textus receptus or majority text remains the best and most faithful version of the Holy Scriptures. It is the text used by the first Christians.
The British Library will never accept that it has a fake copy, this institution has interests to defend. The fact is that the Codex Sinaiticus is a forgery, just by looking at the colour of the paper it is obvious that it cannot be from the 4th century.
Taking Wallace's statement that even if we had the true original biblical text before us, we wouldn't know it, what does this say about the "new and improved" critical texts? They can't say they're "new and improved" because they DON'T KNOW. They can have absolutely no certainty about anything, so why should anyone listen/read anything these "critics" produce?
Excellent discussion, very clear.
His calvi God determines everything but can't preserve his word 😂
James walks in the flesh. Our faith is in God's preserved word
Read the Septuagint's version of Isaiah 9:6
Ummm...I would ask anyone to check out Daniel James from Chick Publications....laugh if you will at "Chick Tracts" but James is spot on about Simonides et al. ROME HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE MODERN BIBLES AND THEIR TRANSLATIONS.
Let's get you on board with Reformed paedobaptism, brother.
Would be curious to find out whether those who hold to the Heidelberg Catechism are more likely to hold to faithfully the TR as a result of this, I would think that any Dutch Reformed church would encounter this issue if they wanted to depart from the TR in the past 100 years
I have recently came to your channel. I just want to say blessings to you. I hear the Good Shepard's voice echoed in your channel. Stay strong in Christ . You are doing his work. 🙏 You have given me strength and encouragement.
thank you for the work this year, Bro. Jeff. love the Santa look.
I have wondered whether or not the punishments that the Lord said will be placed on those who take away or add to will be on those who revise the Scriptures and possibly on those who strictly follow a tainted modern translation. Something to mull over.
What a Christmas treat, brother. Thank you! Happy Christmas!
Amen. Reliable creeds, confessions, and catechisms are dependent on a reliable text of Scripture. God bless, Pastor.
i'm 58 yrs old and have been reading the kjv since i came to christ at 15. i've never had a problem reading or understanding the kjv of the bible
James White does not believe God preserved His word. I was deceived for a time by James White, very thankful to God that He corrected me. KJV & NKJV for me.
May you continue to be blessed as the Father continues to provide you with everything you need to cast down errors and at times intentional deception that have been placed in Modern Translations. However, I disagree with the doctrine of cessation.
oldest bible from 400 A.D. 4 hundred years after the events it quotes. no known writers. trust me bro flex
Mark Ward had me deceived for a while, thank God for the Spirit who leads us into all truth.
Brother Riddle, I cannot express how much you’ve helped me. I’ve gone back and forth on the text issue & translation issue for literally about 7/8 years, and I’ve just wanted to be 100% confident in my conviction of KJVO. Your videos have given me that confidence. You present evidence & citations I’ve not heard elsewhere, and the arguments & points that you make are so good. Thank you brother, I’ll be honored to meet you in glory.
I agree with your assessment, I spent a little time in the ESV study Bible, and I quickly caught onto the fact that the notes, book introductions, and articles do indeed serve to cultivate fear, doubt, and more questions rather than confidence and faith in God‘s word. They do it in a very subtle way, but there is another who is subtle with his deceptions….
The men who desire to omit scripture are either the most deceived men or are jesuits and willingly doing it.
This is the evidence that you don’t hear from Critical Text advocates…which disqualifies them as authorities on the text because of their clear bias and dishonesty.
Mark Ward commits the error of baalim. Only worse because baalim was unable to curse Gods people, Ward has no problem cursing the purest form of Gods Word in english. I believe his motive is the love of $$$ . Which is the root of all something. I believe we are betrayed by who our enemies are. MWs enemy is Gods Word in the form of the KJV. its the only version hes called a sin to distribute. Thats not far from blaspheming the Holy Soirit. Very dangerous place to stand.
That analogy between Al Martin and Charles Spurgeon>>>>
The question should be: Is the book instructional or just historical ?
Should we try to arrange some kind of joint interview? I'd be willing, despite the handful of personally disparaging comments here. FYI, I have not watched all five hours of these response videos yet.
Dr. Ross, good to hear from you. I think you have my email so feel free to get in touch. I would be interested to hear if you actually agree with Mark Ward's assessment that the RBS is "KJVO." Did you read this in our purpose or doctrinal statement? Did you hear this in our conference? Or, did you and Dr. Meade just get caught up in the moment and go along with Ward's false claim (it's a bit of an obsession with him) without correcting it? I'd encourage you to listen to both videos to get a better idea of our (current) responses to "sloppy scholarship," "sleight of hand," "red herrings," etc. Five hours, thus far, may seem like a lot, but your "response" was an hour and a half and we discuss a lot more in these videos than just your "response" (like the classic Protestant view). You note a handful of disparaging comments here. Have you taken a look at the comments on Ward's video? How do they compare?
I've gotten through the first video in full so far, but not the second. I think there is some miscommunication going on here, plus some unfair assumptions. I'm not going to speak for Mark or his commenters (or John). Seems to me like a lot of people involved in this online space -- on both sides -- can get sharp. I'm a newcomer to it and only pointing that out. I don't doubt we simply disagree on some points, but again I would be happy to do a video together and discuss some of the issues further if you're interested.
@@williamross1395 Ok, feel free to send me an email (when you finish listening) outlining what you'd like to discuss, and I'd be glad to have you as a guest on my podcast.
Will do. With the end of term and Christmas approaching it likely will not be until January.
@@williamross1395 No problem. Same here. Have a blessed Christmas.
I, too, for a number of reasons switched from the NKJV to the AV. One of them was the precise second person singular and plural pronouns. The much, sadly maligned ye's and thee's. These are not "archaic" words they are precise words. Should we not desire to use a precise and accurate translation of the wonderful written Word of God?
Awesome 👍👍👍👍
Thank you for your presentation. I feel smarter.😊
Thank you for your presentation. I feel smarter.😊
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.⭐⭐⭐⭐
Awesome 👍 thank you
Praying for you 🙏
I always appreciate your video. Thank you so much Dr. Riddle.
I feel like the elephant in the room on the Septuagint issue is that the LXX text is just so bad. I don't care if you read the Greek or any of the English translations (like the Orthodox Study Bible), it's just incoherent. Job 40: "But now look at the wild beasts with you; they eat grass like oxen. Behold now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly." LXX? More like LOL.
Most helpful and edifying! Whatever his source, Paul transmitted what the Holy Spirit gave him. What we have is the inspired Greek. Thank you!🙏📖
Excellent analysis.
Thank you Dr. Riddle. While I am not a confessional bibliologist, I have read and been blessed by the 1689. I am having an issue with a "Byzantine text" believer who is a NKJV reader, yet he denies the inclusion of the comma Johaneeum. Do you have a video or written presentation in favor of the Comma? I appreciate and look forward to your response. God's best to you and yours, in Jesus name.
Happily for those of us who hold to the Traditional Text, whether it was a later forgery or not, its existence and internal contents support the preservation of Scripture in the majority of transcripts. God is not the author of confusion.
The never ending search for God's Word. We'll find it they arrogantly say. God evidently failed to superintendent it's purity and inerrancy over the centuries. We'll correct that oversight on His part. We are Christendom's savior. That is the philosophical presumption of modern textual criticism. To question God's care to preserve His word inerrant through history is to question His integrity and His omnipotence.
I believe the Reformation Bible Society is the US counterpart to the Trinitarian Bible Society. I hope for God's great blessing on both. By the way, Im listening to this as I'm out working in my shop. Keeps my mind occupied and learn while I work. Thanks
I continue to share this series as an introduction to what I have spoken to a dear brother the Lord has brought. When done by faith and the Spirit guiding, they always hear the Voice of their Shepherd. However, I never leave them without these three sermon resources and some literature on confessional Bibliology. There is another position to hold, and protestants today should be thinking of Ad Fontes or Semper Reformanda. If our understanding of the text was taught of men, then it was not of God. But if it was preached and taught of what you already knew deep down in your soul, who your God is, and what you actually hold in your hand, then, of course, we have the Word of God. Because He has given and preserved it for His dear Bride, how else might the Lord wash His Bride to prepare them for the Day they will be seen in this way? Eph. 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. Revelation 20:7 “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.” How did this happen? Not of men, but of God: John 14: 21-24 “For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. 22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. 24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” Our Lord has given us His word; why would you think for a minute He preserved His Son, the Word of God (Jn. 1:1-5), but did not preserve the very thing His Son prayed to His Father on our behalf? Why would a position be to allow the saints to question Thy Word that Thou hast given? John 17:17, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” If these sermons were the first you have heard of the confessional text position, I implore you to hunger and thirst after the Truth; it will be shown to you that by: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Heb. 12:2). That we may have hope (Rom. 15:4), and assurance that we “are saved” (1 Cor. 1:18) not “being saved” (1 Cor. 1:18, ESV). The faith you have been given will provide what it promised: Hebrews 11:1-3 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. He has decreed all things in this world and in the world to come (Heb. 1:3); we can trust the LORD of glory with our salvation, can't we? Then why don't many believe He also decreed His Word to be with His church in the last days? We aren't seeking it; we have it, so proclaim our mission of the gospel call, not confusing the church more and more not to believe their Bibles. Is that not what is being done? I'm saddened and dumbfounded every time I hear many preach of the Omnipotent God of the Universe, while at the same time if we take a step back and realize. What they are doing is preaching from a Bible with underlying text that says God wasn't powerful enough to keep His Words pure (Ps. 12:6). Thank you, JR, for your steadfastness in the One who is Steadfast and Immovable. Whenever I share these with someone, I go through these three again to have them fresh in my memory so I may remember what is said if they have questions. But, also because no matter how many times I've listened, I could not provide the number, I will tell you this: I'm still attentive to the soundness of the position you exposit, and the Lord moves me to tears on some of these calls to trust His Word. May God bless you, brother, and the good works He has placed before you (Eph. 2:10). Grace and Peace, John
Thanks for the encouragement, John. SDG!

When Jesus was a young boy, a famous Rabbi called Hillel was asked to recite the Torah whilst standing on one leg. He responded by saying "Love your neighbour as yourself, all the rest is commentary". The "old testament" (Torah, Neviim & Ketuvim) is largely irrelevant to Christians; Jesus's ministry allows eating pork and ignoring Saturday as sabbath. There are Jews who carefully keep all the 613 commandments intended for them. Christians never subscribed to those commandments, but simply to these two: 1. Know and love God. 2. Love your neighbour as yourself. The job of scholars is to remind us of the falibility of the written word and help us interpret them. The job of Pastors is to help people to connect with God and live righteousness lives through faith and love. Language changes, Good vs evil does not.
Textual Critics are in the business of creating 'necessary' work for themselves. Show me one who has ever lead someone to the Lord. There's a reason the field is dominated by either liberal or orthodox Calvinists. I'm optomistic that within 100 years of Jesus' return, these scholars will have presented a legit bible to the world.
yes, edifying indeed... and exactly true...👍 in contrast to the little video by Dr Meade... he said it all there, leaving no doubt... oh, that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow... ✋
Just what parishioners in the pews pine for, a troupe of text critics to tell them that they do not have the Old Testament -- but just hold on, wait for them to finish their never-ending work! 😞
