Try cleaning the trays around the burners with Easy Off Oven cleaner. Spray it on and let it sit over night. Then use a Magic Eraser to scrub them with and see if that helps to get rid of the burned on grease/staining

Has anyone found any safe preservation guidelines for the freeze dryer? My husband had to have one, and I'm still figuring out if it was worth the $$$. The freeze dried mashed potatoes were okay. Some of the freeze. Dried meals are pretty good and very convenient for travel. So far , the most useful thing is to preserve herbs. However, I only need so many jars of freeze-dried basil, parsley, chives, oregano, onion, and such from the garden. It is a great savings on spices, but I now have enough to last years. The savings definitely haven't paid for the freeze dryer. It also caused so much moisture in the garage that our metal shelves rusted. So the jury is still out for me. I know a lot of people love them.

They don't make things like this anymore cause than we wouldn't biy everything seperate and replace and replace and replace

You give we older folks reason to hope. I raised my youngins just as you live and for a few years we lived without electricity and I cooked on my wood cook stove and heat farm house with it also. But now I am old and alone and disabled. I can no longer cann as I had (over 2,000 jars of food every year), nor make my own breads, cereals, etc... but it warms my heart to see you do these things. I do practice herbal medicine staying clear of western chemical medicines. I'll be 70 come April, if the Lord tarries and I live. I'll keep on keeping on as I can.❤ Bless you Brook🧑‍🌾😊

Could you freeze dry things often or would the machine need some down time or cleaning every few batches and also what would be a sign your freeze dried items did not go well or do you ever make treats to sell from time to time. I plan to buy your tallow soon I've always used coconut oil for my skin/hair

At 3:05, it's nice that you mentioned that the larger models require a 20 amp circuit. I wanted to mention that a lot of homes already have a dedicated 20 amp circuit in the kitchen, typically for a microwave. I know that you do not use microwaves (nor do I). Getting rid of a microwave and going with a freeze dryer is a wise choice.
