You lily &James potter harry Potter

Beautifully read….
2008 styled video. :)
Always wanted to play the theme on a therimin. It's just a perfect fit.
That'll keep you fit 😅
😅
I used to live in York and the minster is beautiful, but Wells cathedral is my favourite 🙏🏻
Lovely - and many more blooms than I would have thought for Yorkshire in late Winter!
Was there more filming nearby? It seems strange that they might have filmed this without other scenes nearby. I mean, its good that hurricanes hardly ever happen there, but there must be more to it
Not that I'm aware of. You can see the road whilst meant it was easy for the crew to get there. I went a little off the beaten track as I lost the road.
Amazing that this place was used in the movies! Beautiful scenery! Thank you for showing the world the magic!
Christmas Eve all dark and cloudy, Time to go to bed, Hang your little socking up just above your head. For through the door or down the chimney in the candle light . . . Santa Claus, the Christmas fairy is sure to come tonight . . . A poem I remember well from being born in Edinburgh and raised in the Borders.
Thank you for that verse, that's how I remember it 🙂
My Mum used to sing this to us as well but sang Christmas Eve all dark and starry. The second verse was: please, I want a railway engine, and a sailing ship. Please I want a little wax dolly and a top and whip. If you find my little stocking just a bit too small you will find my little playbox right against the wall. From an Irish family in northern Engkand.
Thank you for the variations, Again the North of England and an Irish family. I wonder if it was known in Ireland and they brought it over?
That’s similar to how my Granny and Mum on the Isle of Wight used to sing it. ‘Christmas Eve all dark and lonely, Time to go to bed. First I’ll hang my little stocking, Just above my head. Father Christmas will see my play box standing by the wall, If he finds my little stocking just a bit too small. (X2) Please I want a new wax dolly, Please I want a whip. Please I want a railway engine, And a sailing ship. Father Christmas will see my play box standing by the wall, If he finds my little stocking just a bit too small. (x2)
Marvellous ! Thank you !
I remember this book and I have a copy of it.

If you were there at Easter, we missed you by a couple of weeks, probably! My family went to MK in March 1976. I remember those slides they sold! Lord, I'm old
We were in MK for the 4th of July. Huge fireworks.
What fun! I need to get back to DL - Ashton has never been!
Music's too loud
one day you'll have to be my guide, too!
j'adore les cabernets! How wonderful for you to have won 2 true bouteilles de Chateau Picard!
I live in the US but some of my family in Devon (though with connections to Cheshire and Scotland) have a second verse (first is the same) that goes like this: Please, I want a little wax dolly and a top and whip, Please I want a railway engine and a sailing ship. Through the door or down the chimney in the candlelight Santa Claus the Christmas fairy means to come tonight
Thank you for the extra verse, it definitely helps date the song 🙂
We sing this in our family and call the grandparents to sing it down the phone every Christmas Eve. My family are from Wales, Devon and The Forest of Dean x
Thank you for the information, Its all gratefully received.
Our family, with Forest of Dean origins, has sung this with great fondness over many years. We know a different tune but certainly the words are the same. There are about 4 verses that we sing 😊
My Mam taught me this back in the mid 1940s in Birkenhead. She had learned it from her parents. I guess the origin to be in the mid Victorian era due to the references to a 'Wax Dolly' and a 'Sailing Ship'. We are going to use the poem as part of a Christmas presentation by the Scouts and Guides in Golborne, Greater Manchester. Let's hope the poem will live on.
Ooo, more verses. Can you remember the "references to a 'Wax Dolly' and a 'Sailing Ship'" ?
@@alanjwindow Good morning Alan, Thanks for the reply. By "references" I really meant to them being used in the poem and was trying to suggest a time period when it may have originated. The "wax dolly" and "sailing ship" could be any time from the early 1800s but the request for a "railway engine" possibly puts it in the mid 1800s and and the era of my mother' parents. If ever you get any more verses please let me know. Best regards, Max
@@cyrilthesquirrel1709 Thank you, I've never seen the poem, do you have a copy?
fascinating - I've never seen anything like it here
Maybe its and Episcopal Church thing or only in churches 900 years old.

Hello! I have noticed that you commented on a video 9 years ago, however, the video was made 5 years ago back in 2017. How did this happen? I really hope you see this. The link of the video you commented on is: ruclips.net/video/nX3lA0IOtGo/видео.html&ab_channel=BanksLee

Very cool video the place looks majestic. Thank you for sharing 😊
My pleasure
My mum used to sing this to us when we were children. We lived in Northampton and were born in the 1940s.
Thank you for the information. Did your mum grow up in Northampton?
@@alanjwindow She did, yes.
such a lucky fellow to have such a generous mother! You absolutely deserve a holiday, FINALLY.

West ham stadium long gone ..but OBS your Dr is sir tom of baker. ..as is mine ...if you love the Dr .u must visit this wonderful shop .
Indeed, I need to go back and do another video.
My mother was from Leicester and was born in 1905.. Her mother used to sing it to her when she was a child. She sang it to me and I sang it to my children as well. I know the music and lyrics for the introduction and chorus.
Cool, Are they the same as ours?
I know more of the 'Christmas Eve all dark and cloudy' song. I know the chorus and will sing it to you, if you like.
YES PLEASE, where is it? and I'll watch it.
no, no, it's swish and FLICK
I had completely forgotten this! You can hear me much more than you all through this. Just remember, I was laughing WITH you. :-D
I know I've seen this before, but it's such fun to revisit! That was a fantastic day all the way around. Lee-chee! :-D
Lai-chee!!!!! :-)
completely silly, but you can be just that! Tres amusant, mon ami.
you have one of my very favorite pictures of you--what a day that was!
Indeed it was.
Thanks for posting; just had my dad sing our version of this, which his mum used to sing him when he was little. She was from Derby. Love the extra verses that are appearing in the comments! Our tune has a few variations but definitely recognizable as the same song.
What verses do you remember?
Only the first: ‘Christmas Eve all dark & cloudy, Time to go to bed! I must hang my little stocking Just above my head. Through the door or down the chimney In the candle light Santa Claus the Christmas fairy Means to call tonight.’
My family also sing a variation of this song. They're from Gateshead. :)
Another North Eastern connection. Thank you
My maternal Grandmother (Nana) used to sing this with my sister and I in the late 60's, early 70's. Although she was from London with Wiltshire roots, my Grandad had County Durham roots (Chester-le-Street), and I suspect this is where it came from. My mother passed on a while back, and I never asked her if this was part of her childhood, although I very much suspect it was.
Thank you for another link in the chain :-)
My mother Mabel used to sing this every Christmas Eve....with the addition of a verse two .."He is very old & bearded with a great big sack full of lovely playthings on his bended back..... I have never heard of the verse ....please I want a new wax dolly , please I want a whip, please I want a railway engine please I want a ship. The wax dolly dates the song way back in the mists of time ! Brilliant ! The tune is the same as the short recording.
Fan-tas-tic. May l ask where Mabel was born and brought up?
