Flat sound is all we care about. All our products and services are designed to support professional audio engineers and creators in developing their careers without investing an ungodly amount of money into the construction of perfectly sounding rooms. Our headphones are flat out of the box and can be further calibrated to perfection with a unit-specific calibration plugin.

Testing headphones on a distance can be tricky.
Online headphone audio demos often lack a reference point due to the acoustic impedance of ear simulators and individual headphone characteristics. The video seeks user input on improving these demos by sharing their headphone models and suggestions. It emphasizes using consistent tracks and calibrated SPL levels to enhance demo reliability. The video also explains the importance of using ERP (ear reference point) simulators over DRP (drum reference point) simulators to avoid ear canal resonance issues. Hard Case for studio headphones by OLLO Audio
Hi I bough the exchange ear pad and realise there’s a thin layer inside(black colour) in my s4x headphones but there’s no thin layer in the replacement ear pad. Should I continue to put the think layer inside the ear pad? Or remove it ?
@@noelleechenyee93 hi. Continue to use it for smoother high end. Give them a listen with and without, you might like without more.
@@olloaudio Oh, so you actually prefer without it? I did realise it get sharper on the hi end after I remove it
@noelleechenyee93 It was designed with it, but you might like 1dB more high end.
Oh I got it now, so with it it’s flat. Without, it’s 1db higher hi end. Thank You! That’s helpful.
nice video, I think I am going to save up for that model. What genelec models do you have? I've been thinking about getting a pair of 8330s.
Thanks. I have 8330a :) Great at that price, really.

The colouration you observed is from the HRTF, since you had the Focus slider fully set to localisation while trying to reverse engineer. Please revise. Best regards!
Yes, I did not check the sliders effect while testing with pink noise. It's a wrong conclusion and not explored in full. I did not see or understand the role of focus slider. Thanks for the correction.
I have a question, I tried a few free binaural plug ins but they all have an output that sounds with deteriorated quality. Is it normal default of this effect or there are indeed some high end plug in that tackle this issue with very high def sound?
@@AnneBonny-e6y Binauralized means playing with hrtf to make your brain think the sound is cominf from somewhere else. That on its own introduces sound ques in fr domain and level domain to support the "trick" on top of that reflections and other modulations...so direct sound to your ear from headphones will "always" be clearer.
@@olloaudio Thank you very much, such interesting technology. Music hasn't been yet exploring this that much. The emotional potential, immersive and mixing perception (as for some sound separation perceivable in psychoacoustics) I hope binaural and its dynamics are going to be included more creatively soon.
I was hesitant at first putting the earpad and twisting it like that but then when I did it! it went on smoothly just like in the video. I have the S4x and these are the only headphones I use for my mixing tasks. I am happy with them, Very good product. My next aim is to upgrade the DAC. Looking at the Schiit stuff.
We are working on different computers/interfaces, can the USC be installed on several instances?
@@fredsaboonchi2975 yes. Also possible to take calibration data to any chain/plugin. Not restricted to using our plugin, can run in native eq.
Hi! how are you? I have a question, if i insert the plug in at the master, i need to turn it off when i export the mixdown, true?
Yes, true. YOu have to bypass it if used in the daw. But if used directly at the card level, then not.

Hey amigo, bacana essa música do teste. Pode dizer o nome dela?
People learn better with emotion attached. Your intro did it well and then later the explanation and the two kinds of demonstrations forever cemented in my mind what I must not ever do with my headphones. This is what real teaching is and should be. Excellent job, man.
@@q0w1e2r3t4y5 :) Thank you for taking notice of the efforts. Bless you.
I switched from Dear VR to Embody Immersive, which does an HRFT scan for your ear.
Dude, do the whole album!! Love this, thank you
Did this happen to the headphone because it does not have a pressure or air release hole for the driver and it suffers from a bad design?
@@MML66 This way bass extension can be achieved. It's a part of the design. There are tradeoffs with acoustics design, always. Tnx for a cool question.
@@olloaudio Thank you, I hope you have a happy day
This advice is incredibly simple yet so clever, I really appreciate that! Thanks! I will definitely bring some of my dirty mixes with me when choosing the correct pair of headphones, but to be honest, I'm already in love with the S5X so much, that I might actually just get them anyways :D
You should say it's only possible (and you probably really want to break it while doing it) with closed headphones and with a perfect seal around the ear pads. I really doubt open headphones and planar headphones can suffer from this in normal use situations....
In normal use, this is not a problem. Pushing them agains your ears (as many do for some reason) is not normal use. Open are less perceptive of this, true. But far from imune. Same for planar. Thanks for the comment challanging our POV, love it. R
@@olloaudio you would really have to push hard and have a perfect seal around your ears to even flex the driver a bit... thats crazy badluck if it happens to someone...
This blog was brought to my attention from another company: support.audeze.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001045046-Crinkling-clicking-static-sound-when-I-press-on-the-earcup Describing the same thing with planar tech.
Very informative, thanks!
Is it only or dynamic driver headphones, does it apply for planars or AMT ones?
@@nyverinorlyth9555 No membrane is happy with this. All headphones (including ours) can take some of this without damage and all will get squashed if there's too much pressure, quickly introduced. Planar are no different but some are cleverly designed to be able to take it well.
Your intro almost gave me a heart attack. But definitely good considerations! Thanks
This is something easily missed. Thanks for demonstrating how bad it is!
👍
Hi. can I use the calibration outside the daw system? just to listen to music via pc or mac? thanks
@@kommamusic4174 yes, if you have a sound card that has its own eq. You then transfer the data there. Or use realphones system wide app that supports USC file import.
@@olloaudioThank you for your response. I don't have any of that 🙂 only sonarworks can i use there? Are all the headphones that you offer with calibration individually calibrated or as a series? I didn't find it anywhere
@@kommamusic4174 Sonarworks does not support but realphonea does. All.latest editions have individial calobration although they are super flat even without it.
@@olloaudio I can't wait to try them. i buy Ollo S5X now and model S4X for my father for his birthday. i use now Slate VSX and Sennheiser HD 650 with individual calibration from sonarworks. I hope that the S5X model will be better and thus the sound of my songs 🙂
@@kommamusic4174 650s are nice. Actually have individual unit from sonarworks in the lab as well. Bassier than what s5x are with the usc running. Consider testing with realphones as you can inport usc directly. Enjoy and thank you for your support. HBD to your dad.
Why are these headphones 32 Ohms? Is it enough for amplifiers? Hopefully that's enough. I don't really understand it, but I see that Beyer still thinks that the more ohms, the better the sound. That's just a question. I am interested in recording Guitar-Metal. And listen to metal music.

Was considering Slate VSX as on sale and based on their function rather than their aesthetics. Doing research if worth the money I came across Ollo Audio's beautiful looking headphones and impressed by what they deliver in their sound. Love the design of the S5X more compared to S4X but some videos and reviews suggest S4X are better for mixing 'normal stereo' as S5X are geared more to the mix down of immersive mixes. Is that correct? I wss also checking if they come in a darker wood, then saw this video and the set on the desk. A darker colour by the looks of it😀 The teaser they are a prototype and something new might be coming now makes me think I should pop credit card back in wallet and wait and see.

Good points. This is exactly what I do when testing monitors as well. I've been relying on the HD600 for years and years but I'm very curious to test some OLLOs someday. Keep up!
I just bought your S4X B stock ( the finish is perfect) and everything else has too much lows & highs to mix. Congrats for this amazing device. The plugin to fix frequencies is great too. I’ll be happy to buy monitors if you’d make some one day.
This is a really cool demo between different impedance voice coils in the same chassis. Thank you! I wonder, and would you know, if the FR waterfall plot would be the same or different driven from the same (assuming competent) amplifier?
Interesting idea to test. Will look into it.

Thabk you. Warrren. Its about his 14 year old son dying.
The USC basically increases / decreases some frequencies based on the actual headset frequency response curve, is that correct?
Yes it does fix tolerances and also improves on asherence to target.
Is the USC calibration going to improve the Frequency Response of a S4X 1.1 version?
Yes, slight correction. Between one and two dB.
Just to be sure, I don't need realphone, I can just use the USC, right?
Yes
Are those headphones also good for mixing normal stereo music? I am looking for a good Allround pair of headphones I can use with my synthesizer, on the DAW and sometimes maybe just for listening to music on my phone 😁
Of course, neutral response is always welcome. They have a tad more high end energy than optimal for stereo mixing but still work for stereo very well.
Which headphones in your line up would you recommend for classic stereo mixing ?
@@svenkund234 S4X for the balance in stereo. But if you mix using spatializers then s5x will deliver more consistently overall.
@@olloaudio Which headphone do you recommend for stereo mixing with Realphones?
@@deanrobin9273 The S5X have better soundstage but they have a tad less bass response. Overall, S5X are a better headphone even for stereo only. Also, you likely mix plenty of hrtf based effects like spatializers, reverbs etc,..and s5x are made for that kind of signals,...
Lol, a year late.. but hard disagree on the length of the second drop. They use the second half to hold back the tempo which makes it hit way harder on the change and reverses from the first time through where they push the beat. And its sick.
what about mesh earpads very nice explanation about the room acoustics that play a part on headphone pads I was certainly overlooking that now again what about mesh earpads they appear similar to the focal earpad stock ones perhaps I'm tripping my balls off or perhaps I'm not because I have noticed that the high end headphones are mostly open backs are semi open backs from the same logic I conclude that focal earbuds made out of some fabric or mesh are good stuff I'm I'm speculating I don't know of course they are properly and specifically tuned so again I'm speculating a lot of mistakes there that I'm not going to correct hahaha from what I seem to be understanding the mesh of fabric will lead to a roll off on the base and I don't want that for my Samsung sr 850 I've heard they are similar to the super looks HD 6 81 anyway I love my sr 850 and I feel that the base is there but I would be glad if I got more of it rather than less so I probably buy a perforated that has the biggest room and thickness because like I said the mesh probably going to lose some base and I can't buy the letter because they are cheap and cheap letter just freckles otherwise I would just buy the the dekoni or zmf remium ones I do have a oval brainwavz perforated sincerely I never thought much of them so I'm going to buy a perforated from China I mean brain waves are from China I think anyway I'm going to buy a off btand brand from China guess AliExpress and we'll see if they are really that worth the holy podium champions of earpads brainwavz dekoni zmf wicked cushions
It's a game of flow resistance. Perforated pads will have less, but that open an option to have harder foam to balance that, when wanted.... sometimes it's just design. Perforation costs more so low tier can not use that as tuning. Hence you see it with products where it's possible to use and justify cost.
