Single track ride Boulders OHV, riding my YZ250X with the ATR bros.
Tuesday single track ride at Boulders OHV, riding my YZ250X with fellow ATR members. We even got to show Mike's buddy from Idaho around. I picked up another YZ250X, this one is a 2022 and too good of a deal to pass up. It's half torn apart right now because I'm rebuilding the KYB suspension, greasing everything, putting a piston in it and going over every nut/bolt so it's essentially new-ish. I'm going to set it up identical to my 2023 YZ250X. If I do it right, the only difference will be the 22 has an IMS tank on it and the 23 has an Acerbis tank. The IMS tank has a couple of bolts that are stuck in the shroud so I may ultimately buy another Acerbis tank for the 22. We will see how it wo...

P2 of Single track Saturday Boulders OHV club ride. Winter dirt bike riding at it's finest. Hopefully better quality than P1, will know as soon as it's uploaded. Have to jump through a bunch of hoops but my engineer kid figured out a way to help with quality. We had 8 riders on this ride and Al and Phil took turns leading. I may have to start leading some of them because the dust is still messi...

Single track Saturday Boulders OHV Arizona Trail Riders club ride with a few of the Saturday crew we ride with. This is Part 1, the short addition since my wife and I are making deep dish pizza tonight, time consuming but so darn good to refuel with after a day of moto. Winter dirt bike riding is almost at its finest in Arizona right now, only thing holding it back from it's official heavenly m...
Riding the YZ250X on the East side, Desert Vista single track by Wildcat OHV
Просмотров 35316 часов назад
We took a break from Boulders OHV and traveled East to an area better known as Wildcat OHV for a change of pace. We ended up with a total of 8 riders to start, another club member of Ghostriders joined us for part of the ride and turned out 36 miles of single track today. Wildcat is pretty dry and dusty like everywhere in AZ now and the terrain is decomposed granite so it's a lot like riding in...

Friday's ride showing guys from Wisconsin Arizona single track. When Wisconsin trails are not rideable, Marco and Scott come every year to get out of the snow and ride sunny Arizona single track. The snowbird guys are back so the weekday trail rides are packed with fun. We started out with 9 and dropped to 7 towards the end after Marco got a flat, right after we were all joking about him runnin...
My Wife riding her KX250 on a single track trail in Arizona at Boulders OHV

First time my wife has been on this single track trail at Boulders OHV. The trail gets up there in elevation and has quite a few technical bits and big hills to it compared to the lower trail system. My wife rides about once a week, occasionally twice a week and recently went to a full size KX250 from a KLX230R. She loves the KX motor and suspension compared to the KLX and is getting accustomed...

Exploring single track trail in Boulders OHV. This trail is out there. Al, Max and I started at 9:00 and got back to the trucks at a little after 3:00. It was a fantastic day of exploring on our motorcycles. I think everybody got their moneys worth, lol. This video is just a portion of one of the trails we rode today. Al and Max were on the Beta Motorcycles and I took the YZ250X. The 250X is do...

New Years Day motorcycle single track ride Boulders OHV, Arizona. We were going to join our motorcycle club ride but had some trails we wanted to explore. We ended up running into the club guys in a wash going the opposite direction of our ride, proof that great minds think alike. We ended up putting in 40 miles of a mix of good flowing single track and rocky at times chunky stuff. Al, riding t...
First motorcycle single track ride in Arizona after vacation, not riding is for the birds.

Took a couple weeks off the motorcycle and did some traveling. The idea of cruising around the Caribbean sounded nice but we forgot it was holiday season and all the little kids that spread infectious diseases were also about, we all caught something. Being off the bike for a couple weeks is for the birds, next time it's going to be another riding vacation. This ride we only had three riders an...

Single track Saturday's ride from weeks ago, part 2. Taking a short vacation away from social media for a couple of weeks while I do some fishing with the family. The YZ and Beta's are prepped to ride for when I have time to throw a leg over them again. Had a moto fail tip over at 9:20, I felt off a little all day. Pipe smasher trail

How a shortcut on an unfamiliar trail to meet our buddy Peter turned into an interesting motorcycle trail and a smashed YZ250X pipe. I almost need a GPS so I can go back and ride some of these again but I think I will be able to find this one again. I know I can find it from the bottom but that would be a bear of a climb and probably wreak havoc on the bike, not that my bikes are pretty but the...

Had a kink in my neck today, it made it a little bit of a pain to ride the motorcycle but went anyway. This is the second half of today's video of taking YZ250X out today and hitting some good single track way out north of where we usually ride. We were about 30 miles in at this point and and had a couple of guys drop because they weren't feeling it since we took some rough trail to get to this...

Very Nice Ride! I ride the Boulders, but don't know where about this particular area/section is? Would you have a bread crumb trail or pin for trail head? Thanks.
This is North of MM4. 33.890871, -112.591260 is essentially the trail we went out on but it's a maze-ish out there. The trail by the cliff rock is called Ragland Memorial if you can find it on an app. I don't track my rides or I would send you the route. I flirt with the idea of getting a GPS but it's just one more thing to tinker with and another $600-$800 set up if you get something like the Trailtech. Plus, my eyesight is somewhat crap now, I'd have to stop and get glasses out every time I want to read it, lol.
Great vid clarity. Thank the Engineer for me!
Great section to Ride!
Boulders ohv is always a good time! Looks like you had a blast!
Sweet! I can tell your on a Yamaha now and riding single track! Clear picture!
Great picture. Making the 250X look good!
Awesome!! That trail looks fun!
We are lucky to have a bunch of it. Thanks for watching!
Looking way better then previous videos. 👍
Perfect! 👍👍
I think this might be my favorite trail you've shown yet. Lots of cool stuff on that trail. I would have loved to see the Yamaha team semi and what they were up to! Great show, thanks!
I should have went over to see what they were up to but we were getting my buddy's KTM out of the boonies.
Quality is looking good dude!
I continue to struggle with quality of the video. I've uploaded to YT through a couple of different editing programs and direct from the camera, all those versions are super clear and crisp 1080x60 that turn to crap once uploaded to YT. Going to continue to mess with things.
Are you recording at 1080p or a higher resolution? If you are recording at higher rez, try rendering the video at the same rez. You could also try upping the bitrate in the final render. What camera do you have?
@@Jhoffisdead Yeah, it's 1080x60 filmed on a Hero 10. The vids are super sharp/clear right out of the camera on the computer. I tried some higher bit rates last night with no success. I've even tried recording in 4k, the vid called exploring a new trail was recorded in 4k. Looks great on a cell phone but not a PC. Going to keep tweaking things. Just not sure how huge channels make their stuff looks so clear.
Then I would recommend to set the final edit/export resolution of your video in the editing software to 2560x1440 at a minimum (even if the camera source video is 1920x1080). I see on all of your videos I can only select 1080p as the highest quality, and it's likely that RUclips is limiting the bitrate because of that. Setting resolution higher in the render should allow RUclips to use a higher minimum bitrate.
@@Jhoffisdead I second this. Raise your camera resolution to the max and use 30 fps instead of 60fps. Your videos should be crisp 🤙
@@Jhoffisdead Thanks, I'll try that. I'm abandoning Clipchamp because their free version only goes 1080 and I noticed they compress the video as well.
great job, gotta love the dust.
Video fun to watch. I don't get to ride anymore due to self inflicted stupidity. I lived in Phoenix when I was and MMI around 2006 and 2007. And I did some rides out towards Lake Pleasant. That trail looks pretty familiar for some reason... Pretty gnarly in the AZ desert.
Thanks for watching. We're lucky to have so much riding here.
Ruts Rocks and Cactus. Good times!
Another nice video! Great ride, I was out yesterday for about 40 miles on the east side of town where we normally ride. What was the name of this trial you were riding?
Good question on the name. The uphill at the beginning of the vid is at the end of the trail and it pops out on LP10 jeep road if I'm correct. I know how to get there so I can probably find a pin for the start of it using satellite view.
@@Monkeybutt_ADV Thanks Monkeybutt. I need to hit the west side of town more often but I think I know where that trail is. By the way, you're really gelling with that YZ! Good stuff...
Ok I subscribed, good seeing you out on the trail today!
Good to meet you! I'm currently fiddling with some different free video editor to see if I can ditch some of the grainy look. Supposedly you can mess with the numbers in some of these programs to get a better quality.
@@Monkeybutt_ADV Sweet! Hope it works. You’re making that YZ look mighty good! I’ve wanted to try one of those things but never got the chance. Love the simple design and parts availability/cost.
@@GCSimons My try was a fail. I'll get it figured out at some point. My buddy Tony is a media guy so I'm going to pick his brain after he gets back from Moab. Here is the vid on FB, same exact vid from the same editing program, turn it to 1080 and see if it's quite a bit more clear. Maybe it wasn't a joke about being put on a list, lol. facebook.com/61558818970129/videos/1812128752658282
@@Monkeybutt_ADV ok sweet thanks
What mods do you have on that YZ, almost sounds like it has as much low end grunt as a 300, or you ride it better than most. Either way, strong work and nice vid!
Excellent ride! The YZ sounds great now, good job on the packing.
It's scenic way out there, but there are lots of rocks and cactus in the trail!
I guess you could call that new, the ruts aren't over your head.
You have a GPX route configured or did you guys just wing it with OnX or Gaia GPS listed single track routes?
My buddy Al just got a GPS but we usually just wing it and use the area landmarks to figure out where we are. Now that he has a GPS, we're starting to flag trails we are unfamiliar with.
@ gotcha. My buddy and I also live in PHX and are planning on checking this OHV stuff out. Pretty frustrating to see the SxS we witness ourselves be confirmed with others in the area.
@@Slov_ Some people aren't club people but if you want a great resource for riding, check out Arizona Trail Riders, lots of people to ride with and lots of trail knowledge. We do group rides all the time so you could always join us sometime. The UTV thing is frustrating, a few of them camping at one of our parking spots just left beer cans all around the perimeter of their camp and a burn pile of glass bottles, cans and it looks like they burned tires since there's a bunch of round steel belts in the burn pile. It's the kind of activity that will get the places shut down and motorcycles somehow get lumped in with them from the public's view.
The advantage of being a slow poke is my bibs last 80 hours 🤣. Fun watching you guys rip around Rio 🤙
The Bridgestone X31 is the best front tire I've found that works in the desert!!! Nice to see it saved you too. Also, the razors are a real threat to our entire trail system. They are just blowing out everything. Guys that own them could care less about the damage they are doing to the trail system and it's getting really bad. When you go to the offload store now that's about all they sell is those big ass razors. Sad for sure.
I haven't tried the 31 yet but the 30 works well. The Artrax fatty works surprisingly well for a cheap tire but seems to have a thin carcass so it's best with bibs. It's a shame how many trails the side by sides are blowing out. They leave a ton of trash too, I'm seeing more and more beer cans along the transfer sections of jeep road.
Nice trails! We have similar in Nee Mexico without the Saguaros! What tire combo? Tubes? Mousse? Would love to ride your trails and host in New Mexico if you ever come this way!
My current tire combo I'm running is a Tusk Recon in the rear and a Bridgestone X30 on the rear with bibs in both. Let me know if you plan on coming out this way because we can show you around.
Just got my 2023 klx 230
Agree you must ride often to stay on top of your game.

Those cactus bushes hurt real bad.. trust me. I know..
That is not an easy step-up, I'm not sure I could do it.
It is sizable and it's right out of a corner.
Hell yeah, great trail! Excellent riding.
Nice ride, what area is this?
Boulders OHV in Arizona.
Now a Jr. sighting! Great ride once again. Is it the microphone or is that YZ ready for a new packing?
It's ready. I have it on my order list but I'm waiting to see what Black Friday deals I can add it to.
👍❤️
Is wild cat open? Apparently part is?
Partially, it's the Desert Vista portion.
Was that a big Rick sighting there at 16:53? Nice ride!
It is!
Looks like sycamore creek in az
It's Boulders OHV.
Looks like Tucson. Possibly a bit more South
NW of Phoenix at Boulders OHV. I need to get down to Tucson to ride.
Looks like some fun riding! I just know I would target fixate on a cactus and straddle one 😆 Great video!
I think your wife did really good. Kudos to her for getting out there. Fun video!
Is your suspension stock on that Beta? Nice ride as always! Looking really good, great pace.
Stock other than putting in springs front and rear for my weight.
@@Monkeybutt_ADV Thanks, it looks like it's set up good for you.
The terrain looks like the mile markers. 👍. Just saw the new home development, south of the 74. I hope it takes them a long time to put those houses in. I like those trails in that area.
@@ml5955 It is.
One of my favorite places to ride.
Where is this trail?
This is NW of Boulders OHV.
Doesn't look like nuch sitting on that trail😂
Your channel keeps popping up in my feed, and I had stop in and show some love. Keep ripping brother, nice single track action. 🤙🏼
Thanks dude! Much appreciated.
Looks like the Yammer Hammer has taken over for the Beta! Your Beta must be gathering dust... I'm impressed with the blue machine! Good riding. I went out the same day, other side of town, out by Log Corral and yeah the heat was brutal towards the end of the ride about 12 noon. Hey does that trail have a name? Thanks for your awesome vids!
Yeah, the Beta's have been sitting since I got the YZ. I figured I would spend some real time on the YZ to get accustomed to the differences in the bikes. I've put 20 hours on the YZ now and it's super fun to ride and a great machine. I'm trying to decide if I should keep a stable of different bikes or just get a clone YZ and have 2 of them set up identically. Good problems to have I suppose. I don't know the names of them all but one of them was Cactus Trail. We were also on a trail where there was a concrete pyramid in the middle of nowhere by the single track, one side was labeled Maricopa County and the other Yavapai. Crazy to think someone walked all the way out there to build a concrete pyramid.
I'm from Arizona, third generation Arizonan. Those "Cholla cacti" are better known by natives as "jumping cactus" and they got their name by the fact that when you brush by them they "jump onto you!!!' When you try to pull them out they can hook into your skin...and you can get an infection if you don't keep the wound clean. Great ride, what year is that 250X? I watch your vids, you're with a much slower pack this ride😏
It's a 2023. Super fun bike!
Great Trail love seeing it. I’m in SoCal desert, but we don’t have really any Choya cactus to speak of. I have ridden Arizona and met those damn things firsthand and I do not like them! Lol!
They are quite sticky. Some areas are covered with so many of them.
Nice riding. Really hoping to get up there and ride the MM's this winter.
22:59 I was extremely fortunate to have seen a mountain lion. I was driving my rental car on 260 (Zane Grey Hwy.) through the Coconino National Forest from Prescott (Preskt 😉) back to Payson at night, about 3 weeks ago. The animal was about to cross the road, saw me and 180’d back into the forest. I had 3-4 seconds and got a good look at it in my headlights. I was surprised at how much bigger this one was than the ones I had seen in zoos before. I used to think that I could fight one off if I ever got attacked. But after that night, I’m not so sure anymore 😓. I am from back East and exploring the area in the hope of relocating here. I was told in the following few days how lucky I had been to have seen a mountain lion. Folks who’ve lived here all their lives are still hoping to see one.
Lucky to see one for sure! I'm sure one has seen me but I haven't seen one yet. I've seen a lot of Bobcat, some, like the mountain lion thing much larger than one would expect.
