[INSE S9 Review] Could this be THE BEST AFFORDABLE cordless vacuum?? [eBay Referbished]
In this video I go over my review of the INSE/UMLO S9 portable, cordless 28kpa vacuum cleaner. In my opinion it has a very efficient design for a great price. For the $55 price tag, this vacuum lasts anywhere from ~25 minutes (on carpet) up to ~50 minutes (using hand tools). This vacuum features 1 primary cyclone and 6 secondary cyclones along with a HEPA filter that offers a very efficient cleaning design. I chose this vacuum after a lot of research on the currently available 'cheap' (affordable) cordless vacuum cleaners, and I was not disappointed. For the price, this was the most efficient design, highest powered, and nicest looking vacuum I was able to find. The LEDs make it look quit...

How to get rid of grain mites in mealworms 🐛 [WORKING METHOD!]

This video goes over a brief overview of the steps I took to get rid of, and keep grain mites away! If charging off of the vacuum, there is a little LED indicator on the battery itself to show if the battery is finished charging (i believe it's red or blue blinking, i don't remember)

    Are you sure the mites that are in the container with the worms will die quickly? I did the whole process and still see a few moving... although it's only been 1 day. I also put Vaseline on the rim of the container they are in so the remaining mites won't escape at the very least. I live in Canada and it's getting too cold to throw the worms outside considering I've left them out there a lot already. I may feed them some split peas to speed up the process.

    • @diy-projects

      @@AllHailSeizure90 The goal was to remove the mites by washing the mealworms, then keeping the mealworms in a washed container with (treated/microwaved) little to no media, so it stays dry and not moist. The mites love moist places. I've heard good things about split peas though, i would give that a try if you want to speed up the process. Using Vaseline is a good idea to prevent mites from crawling into the container. Best of luck with your worms

      @@diy-projects gotcha' My whole computer desk, monitor, headset, etc had been infested a few weeks ago (looked like dust and nearly didn't realize at first) since the worms were on said desk, but I managed to eradicate them by sanitizing everything 3 times a day for about a week. I imagine it would not have been quite as successful if they had some form of food and moisture as you are suggesting. I'll continue monitoring the container for a few days and go from there. How long did you put them in for? Most insects can be waterlogged for quite a while and then come back to life and be just fine. Ants for example can be submerged for up to a day and then be fine once dried out. I guess that the temperature of the water also matters, was it room temp? Hot water would likely kill them.

    Do the eggs have to go through a drying period in order to hatch?

    • @diy-projects
      @diy-projects 7 месяцев назад

      If you dont collect the eggs, the chances of them hatching in the large tank is low. A dryout period is almost always needed. Them surviving in the big tank is low chance, since the babies do better in small mostly stagnant tanks. The water current from the large tank makes it hard for them to swim and find food. I have had some babies hatch in my main tank before and survive to adulthood but it's very unlikely to occur. The most usual time for them to hatch spontaneously is after doing a large water change or turning the light off for a few days then back on, an environmental trigger is needed for it

      Thanks for your thoughts. A few cycles of sifting has allowed the sand to be fully filtered so there are no more sand particles that fall through the mesh. One possible way is to get a more fine mesh to let the dust fall through

    That's a really nice cloche - you 3d print the top too? Did those eggs need to go through desiccation before hatching or do you expect a lower hatch rate when they go straight back into water? Great shots in this video.

    • @diy-projects
      @diy-projects 10 месяцев назад

      Hey. I bought the display case at the store called dollar tree. The bottom and top tiers where the egg containers sit are 3d printed. The eggs sit to dry for ~2 weeks before extracting. I additionally put a small packet of absorbent silica packet inside the center of the display. After 2 weeks, they will hatch as normal. But without fully drying out, there will be a lower hatch rate. Interestingly, sometimes eggs don't need to be dried out, they can spontaneously hatch wet if the water conditions change quickly.

      @@diy-projects Thank you for those tips - that's very useful when figuring out a sustainable source of shrimp. Place some wet substrate in many places in the room, allow the grain mites to enter the substrate then once you see some, microwave the heck out of it to kill them all, and throw it away. Keep doing that and you can capture a good amount of them pretty quickly

      Yes unfortunately triops are very hungry critters so when it comes to food and will pretty much eat anything they can get a hold of, keeping them well-fed is essential especially towards the beginning. It's also important to not over feed towards the beginning. It's a hard balance

      I would start by making a separate tank with baked/microwaved oats to kill the mites and then take the adult crickets, wash them off quick somehow with water to get the mites off, and then add them to the new tank. Keep the substrate sparce until you're sure the mites are gone. Keep 2 separate tanks till they all turn to adults and move them to the 2nd tank. That's my best idea for crickets, hope something works for you

      Normally, I have been taking out the sand dish every 2 weeks, so i get multiple of egg batches and can hatch more in stages. Occasionally, you can trigger a spontaneous hatch if you leave the lights off, drain the tank of most of the water, wait a few days then add fresh water back, turn lights back on. It has worked for me a few times in the past.

    What tape would be best to use to cover the hatchery holes/ what tape did you use

    • @diy-projects
      @diy-projects Год назад

      I used basic clear scotch tape, it didnt seem to cause any issues for the triops. The holes and tape are not strictly required, as you can also acclimate them by transferring water back and forth to/from the hatchery/maintank manually with a pipette, but regardless, i highly recommend acclimation with whatever chosen method

    how long do eggs need to dry to be used again?

    • @diy-projects
      @diy-projects Год назад

      Although there is no exact time, I recommend drying them for at least 2 weeks before trying to hatch them. That way they will be sufficiently dry before rehydrating them. Rehydrating them too soon may not yield a good hatch rate

    💙 What happens if you don’t collect the new eggs? Will they hatch in the large tank, and if they do will the adults eat them all or will you end up over populating the tank?

    • @diy-projects
      @diy-projects Год назад

      Hello, If you dont collect the eggs, the chances of them hatching in the large tank is low. A dryout period is usually needed. Them surviving in the big tank is low chance, since the babies do better in small mostly stagnant tanks. The water current from the large tank makes it hard for them to swim and find food. Small tanks still need to be aerated daily with a pipette or something similar. Adults rarely eat eggs, but will eat the babies if they can get ahold of them. Overpopulation of the triops during their medium stage will lead to them likely eating eachother, it's difficult to keep more than 12 in a 10g tank and requires constant feeding to keep them busy and happy. Its possible and ive done it before but it's not super easy

      @@diy-projects 💙 Thank you so much for the info. My 11 year old son decided to try to hatch these (I didn’t even know he had these eggs in his room 🙈) …and now I’m trying to make sure they survive. I thought they were sea monkeys, but nope triops. I’ve never even heard of them before. One has already hatched, sure is tiny so far

    • @diy-projects

      @@SimplyInspiredbySheena Best of luck with them, as long as you raise one, they will produce many eggs for future use, most of them can make viable eggs asexually. Be sure to not feed for the first few days or they will over eat and can die. I have been waiting 1.5-2 days after hatching to feed algae powder. Provide good lighting to increase algae growth and aerate the hatchery tank a few times per day to increase oxygen. After they molt and start to swim along the bottom, you can feed them crushed solid foods that sink to the bottom. These days, I have been feeding mine shrimp and tadpole pellets, they love it

    • @diy-projects
      @diy-projects Год назад

      @@SimplyInspiredbySheena when they first hatch they're attracted to light so being at the top is mostly normal. It's just natural because the light orients them. Temps between 72-76f are ideal for triops but they can be okay outside of that range as long as it's consistent temps. I use a heater to stabilize my temps when it dips below that so it helps

      Yes, I have heard that is a great method. For me, it was important for them to be gone 100% immediately and this method works great. With split peas I was not certain it would work immediately, I've heard it takes some time to take effect
