DodgerzDen
Добавлен 20 янв 2012
This channel is mostly for me to archive the videos of the cats of whom I was a temporary caretaker. Many of them really don't have anything meaningful to anyone else except to me. Some are humorous. Some are sad and disturbing. And some are just boring. But I think true cat lovers can relate.
I also use it to post videos of lost cats that my cameras have picked up in an effort to trap them and return them to the owner/caretaker.
Between 2009-2011, I had an online raw pet food shop called DodgerzDen, named after my first cat who died from cancer in 2006. Unfortunately, I don't have any videos of him because I didn't have a smartphone or digital camera at the time. Information about the site can be found here for anyone interested. Thanks for visiting.

Harley Outsmarts Me For a Week
This is a compilation of Harley's roof capades over the last week where he manages to outsmart me to get on the roof regardless of the contraptions I devised to keep him from doing so. I tried spike strips on top of the A/C unit, which some people think is cruel, but they are tamer than they appear. They give you the ouchies but cannot puncture the skin because they just bend with the slightest pressure. The cats get used to walking on them and some them even lay down on them.
I then tried various combinations of balled up chicken wire, welded wire barriers, and temporary barriers to the roof made from corrugated plastic.
You'll see the act of actually getting to the roof with the first fe...

Harley the Great Escape Artist
Просмотров 4521 день назад
This is Harley's latest escape maneuver to get around the backyard fence. I've been meaning to install a homemade awning on the left side of the house so that he can't get up on the roof anymore but have been using half-assed measures until I get the materials and the time to do it right. First, I put spike strips on the A/C unit so the cats wouldn't jump up on it and gain access to the roof fr...
A Purrfect Tail About a Purrfect Fence

I've been wanting to put up this fence for a while now and finally got around to it. Mostly because I have 8 cats...not by design. It just worked out that way. I had 3 cats die of various cancers within a 9 month period and then the last one went missing. It's how I got involved with searching for other lost cats. After a while of searching for my lost cat, I went to the shelter one day to see ...

Max the Feral Demands Affection 3 Months After Being Captured
Просмотров 153 месяца назад
I trapped him 3 months ago while looking for a different cat because he was meowing in the wild after eating at the feeding station. I thought that his meowing might be a sign of being a lost house cat. When I got him home, he was deathly afraid and showed all the signs of being a feral. Today was the first time I was allowed to touch him after a little more than 3 months.
Max Jumping My Leg to Use Litter Box
Просмотров 863 месяца назад
Today marks three months to the day since I trapped Max and brought him home only to find he was feral and also marks two milestones in becoming less afraid of me. He jumped my leg to use the litter box right after I cleaned it and he was eating treats while I watched. It doesn't look it, but I was shocked that he actually brushed up against me. I haven't tried to pet him yet because I don't wa...
Mouse and Bugs at Selma

This is a video I pieced together and sped up that spans over an 8 hour period. I was testing to see if a cat would be at this location even though I knew it was unlikely, and so put one of my cheap cameras down. When I went back the next day, all the food was gone but I had no photos on the SD card except one that shows my hand. So I put down a good camera and found out who the culprit was.
Max Guarding Me as I Sleep

Max the feral was so afraid of me that one day I went into his room and I could not find him. There's not a lot of stuff in the room. There is only a litter box and another box with old kitchen small appliances like a blender, juicer, rice maker etc. So I checked the rest of the house, which also does not have many hiding places, and then came back to his room and I found cowering under the app...
Max Jumping Over My Leg After Eating While I Slept

A little more progress with Max the Feral. He doesn't go running to his safe spot when I walk in the room anymore, but he's still a little scared. He's also very talkative. He meows, I say something. He meows again, I say something else and this goes on for a few minutes. It's very cute. I've been meaning to sleep in the same room with him so that he gets used to me being non-threatening and fi...

Max and the Pillow

Max the feral is getting a little less fearful of me. He now doesn't run into his safe space every time he hears me coming in the room. And he now meows at me instead of hissing, but his ears are still tilted back. So I put down a mat and pillow so I could sleep in Max's room so he could get used to me as a non-threatening critter. I was wondering how the mat and pillow got moved around next ti...
My feral cat Max playing for the first time

Good news about my feral cat, Max. He was playing by himself for the first time. He also has been spending much of his time laying out in the sun and less time inside his cat cave. Next up, the wand toy to see if he'll play with me. Seeing this warmed my heart.

Hopefully he’s smart enough to go back in too. Good he’s up high Cept for owls 😮
The fence I put up is like Hotel California. It's easy to get in and difficult to get out. He's the only one of my cats who has figured out how to do it.
@ that’s too funny, Hotel California lol Thanks for sharing and also all the help you give freely 🤍🕊️
Just got one of these in January 2025. I've been trying to trap a mama cat and one kitten but have been afraid to use the traditional rectangular trap. I was able to catch them in a matter of minutes.
I don’t like that trap it’s to small
But dad ….😊
Do you know why cats like being petted or scratched certain places more? Forehead has scent gland, near base of tail has scent gland, face n all the other areas they like petted/scratched are a offence to predators. Thought I’d share as I know a bit about critters, some don’t know these things :) Blessings to you and Max
I didn't know that about the base of the tail. No wonder they go nuts when you touch or brush that area.
@@Dodgerzden yes n their face n under chin. Everywhere kitties like being petted is spreading scent for them, lol.
That’s so sweet! I’m happy for both of you! I don’t think he’ll run off that’s pure love in his eyes and yours 💗🪶
Max loves you ❤
Is that his leg bone hanging out that poor sweet baby.
I think it's just skin and fur. He's not having trouble walking.
@@Dodgerzden :(
Nice
Hope he’s ok n is loved :)
He’s precious n you’ve got a lifelong friend!
lol he seems happy ❤
He looks like he’s happy n more relaxed than last video even. Love these vids!
Awww he’s finally relaxed n comfy. Were you asleep or playing with him?
I was sleeping. He's still nervous around me, just not as scared as he used to be. I walked into the room yesterday when he was on the window sill and he had his ears back and was meowing to me. Normally, he would hear me coming and be inside his safe space.
@@Dodgerzden he’s getting there. Bringing in a feral is hard cause they always want back out. Thank you for giving him a home! 💗
Thank you for all you do
Thanks for showing, that opening is much too small for most cats.
I agree. I recently was tracking another lost black cat at a rest stop on I-10. He was not interested in going into a box trap and so I put out the roundhouse trap and he was not interested in that either. It took a month, but eventually he was trapped in a large box trap meant for a medium sized dog and returned to his caretaker. I think the trap may work on cats who like to enter small spaces, but I have not encountered that yet.
Im glad he’s home! TY for all your efforts!
Yup. It was the best possible outcome. It warms my heart. I don't see that very often.
It’s Rene’ and I subbed ❤
Yay, #32! But seriously, the channel is really only for me to archive videos of my cats and for the people who are missing cats because this is the easiest way to send a large file to them.
@@Dodgerzden I understand. I appreciate all you do.
Poor kitty! ❤❤❤❤
Baitcup not used. They would have to all the way in and triger it everytime
What I am wondering is would the round trap perhaps be more effective for catching cats that will not go into the traditionally rectangular humane traps? What do you fellow TNR people think or what has been your experience with this? Thanks to anyone who can provide insight.
That's the point of a circular trap. If they don't go into a box trap, it's worth trying this one. I've only used it a few times and I usually put it out somewhere near the box trap at the same time. I don't do TNR. I try to trap people's lost cats and so I am looking to trap a specific cat and I've always been able to eventually get the ones I'm looking for to go into the box trap. Here's the video of one time I used it. The black cat was the one I was looking for and eventually caught in the box trap. Go figure. ruclips.net/video/f0pcDRmVF24/видео.html&ab_channel=DodgerzDen
Sone observations: The shape of this trap is a great idea in my mind. I think the problem is that it's too small for most adult cats. As of January 2023, this trap cost $113 +/- on the tomahawk live traps website. For it to be much larger would cause it to be perhaps too costly for most TNR advocates. Still this is a good trap for small kittens that are extremely shy. There is a bait cup that comes with the trap that is attached to the interior wall of the trap above the trip plate. I'm not sure why that bait cup was not used -- or if it was used. It doesn't seem like it was. It would be interesting to know why the person who used this trap didn't use the bait cup.
I did use the bait cup. But I put a spoonful of food on the floor to lure in the cat, which I also do when using a box trap. And I agree it's a little small and even if a large cat goes in, the trap door could possibly close on their tails. Although it would not injure the cat. I tested it on my finger and there is almost zero pain. I think I demonstrated that in another video. I will only use this trap if I can't get a cat to go into a box trap, which is rare. And after shipping, it cost me $144. Here's the link to my demonstration video: ruclips.net/video/KBqRc_GItCE/видео.html
@@Dodgerzden thank you for explaining!
Cute kitty. They do so love boxes
Poor thing, did she get hurt? Thank you for showing us. Now, I'm not sure if I should order this?
I don't think so. It does look like it would hurt but In the demonstration video I made right after buying it, I tested the impact of the door slamming shut on my finger. But it does look like it would hurt. ruclips.net/video/KBqRc_GItCE/видео.html
I recognize this cat.
😂😂😂
I take care of the neighborhood cats that were abandoned by my neighbors. Cheers and nice video.
Thanks for the review! Very helpful
Did the trap work?
Yes and no. As I said in the summary, I think it would have worked if I didn't put bait food on the floor of the trap so that the cat has to go all the way in to set off the trip plate. The last cat seemed to not go in all the way and she set off the trip plate just from jostling the cage on the way out.
Have you used this trap yet? I'm looking for a different style trap to catch 2 stubborn traditional trap shy cats. Although your netting idea was great for easy camouflage so I might try that.
I have not used the trap except to see if my own cats go into it and they have and the door swung shut. But I did have both a traditional trap and the Roundhouse trap side by side and the cat went into the box trap. Go figure.
Love your carry strap idea. The point of tipping it on its side is for the cat's toes to not be on the bars but if you're putting down something then they will be comfortable and fine.
The cat sells it!!!😃
They don't seem to mind the ants.
I just recently saved a kitten in the snow. He was homeless. Got him a bed, posts, food, toys and love. My daughters named him Tiger 🐅 It was an emotional night when I decided to take him in because in that moment realized I'd just made a commitment to the cat. Had him for a few months now and it's been great except for needing to refinish my kitchen cabinet door which he apparently was addicted to scratching while I was at work. Not surprisingly it's were I stored his salmon and tuna lol
This particular cat looks like my neighbor's lost cat. I'm posting these videos so that I can send cat owners who lost a cat a video link to a cat that may be their lost cat. Sending a private video is very difficult by email, Messenger, etc. because of the size of the file.
Marines do like cats 🐱

HAHAHA this is hilarious and TY for uploading these ! My old cat Spikey only ate smoked Salmon, cheese and salami and needed a warm bowl of milk before bed.
Some of the videos are not so happy. They are mostly for me to archive in case I lose them. All of the cats except for the black one, Pipsqueak, are no longer alive and I'm in the process of creating a memorial room for them as a method of catharsis. Thanks for watching.
