Amazing craftsmanship! I can appreciate the work with the hand tools. I've always been more of a "Power Tool Guy" but am starting to venture into the finer details of woodworking. Keep up the great work!
I have an Oliver 166 CD. I know where there is a 166BD, I have been thinking about buying it, because you know you can never have enough jointers lol
@@oliver299d I’ve been looking for one. it’s on my bucket list to own one. I’ve also been eyeing the new Oliver 16” jointers. Build wise they’re nearly identical to the old one but have modern safety features and helical heads.
@@TennesseeHeirloomWoodcraft the new ones are nothing like the old ones, Helical head on a jointer is not a good thing, makes the stock harder to push and it doesn't matter since it's going to go through the planer anyhow. My 166 is actually a helical and I wish It wasn't the later ones were mostly what Oliver called and ITCH head which was helical but you sharpen it on the head. They're fabulous heads, but they are not needed on a jointer, I think I put a video using it on my you tube page if you want to take a look
@@oliver299d I’ll check that out thanks!!
That was great timing on the mortiser. How long does wood have to sit before you can begin to use if for furniture?
@@Dancing_Alone_wRentals It was a Divine plan and Gods perfect timing for sure!…. So that depends. Most of my wood I buy comes from an indoor lumber yard pretty close to me, and with a climate very similar to my shop. Their wood is usually very stable as well. So if I buy from them I lets it acclimate for a couple days. But otherwise I’ll bring it in and sticker it on racks for maybe a week or 2
Happy to follow you and looking forward to The Oliver 36 restoration. I’m a new woodworker having taken it up in my retirement. Best of luck to you.
@@urs-id9yi thanks so much! The restoration videos will be coming soon. I hope I am able to share inspiring information that can help you along your journey. If you ever need anything, don’t ever hesitate to reach out!

Shop looks great! Gonna be a cool bandsaw to get back to full glory and awesome to have!
@@shadeTreeWorks thanks! Restoring old machines seams be be my hobby within my hobby 😂
@TennesseeHeirloomWoodcraft Haha, I joke with my wife that I am a hobby collector. I totally get that.
Hey I just subscribed, I'm a beginner woodworker, built a key holder, a monitor stand and a couple of guitars ( they work at least :) ), love your shop and good luck with the channel!
Thank you so much! I actually play guitar as well, but haven’t ever made one. Best of luck with your woodworking journey and please don’t ever hesitate to reach out if you ever need anything, how to do something. I’m happy to help anyway I can.
Hey man, the shop looks awesome, congratulations on the setup!
@@jjensenco thank you so much! I hope have a wonderful year full of success
