@@danspotter8618 it was a derailment in 2005 that occurred because of a train driver speeding along the curve before Amagasaki station trying to make up for a one minute delay then the train leaned off the curve and derailed killing 100 people, including the driver

Yes I'm pretty sure the 6 and 8 LDA were turbocharged, acc Wiki - and also the "Derby Sulzers" website, which speaks of an intercooler. Just about all loco engines were, for max power from a confined space. Though the Class 08 shunter was naturally aspirated.

This loco is on a heritage railway (private) so headlight not required. I assume the owners wanted the loco to look as original.

Not so much refurbished, but repainted. Both locos are over 60yrs old, and will have been refurbished and upgraded to allow them to operate on today's network some years ago. They're privately owned and preserved, whilst most of their classmates went to the scrapyard years ago, so their care and maintenance are high priority. Regular repainting for special events is nothing unusual.

I agree with all that either was these 60 year old locomotives are still amazing to witness in 2024 besides I'm new to these type on LOCOS

They ran a double header every Saturday (summer timetable only I think) double header from Brighton to Bristol. Outwards was about half past eight from Brighton. Was quite the sight on the electrified section! I saw it in early 1980's.

@@brianwillson9567 The Sulzer engines were double inline, not vee, meaning that they were both short and (relatively) narrow. Also for an industrial series (as here), you don't have the faff of different vee-angles for different cylinder numbers, you can just bang on another pair of cylinders. Very clever. One of the 33 subclasses were the "Slim Jims", where the narrowness of the double-four was a boon.
