Shearing Using Electromagnetic Forming
Просмотров 31 тыс.16 лет назад
Electromagnetic formation of die cut shape of Ohio. Aluminum blank is placed on electromagnetic coil, and a die in the shape of Ohio is placed on top. Electric charge forces the blank against the die, causing the shape to be cut or sheared from the blank. Process is shown to produce a cleaner shear than traditional mechanical die cutting.

Hehehe this is great. That's a perfect little part cut out.

only in OHIO
Pretty cool really.
That's a F load of power and setup for something a hydraulic punch can do much quicker
not as cool
@@PolumbiusTheThird what do you mean not as cool? hydraulics are cool as heck
An hydraulic punch strains and weakens the metal
Hello. This is the future. Hows things going? Nowadays we just use lasers.
As always, lasers somehow find a way to solve a problem

Here is a good resource on the commercial use and availability of BMG from Liquidmetal Technologies: liquidmetal.com/about/faqs/
hello, is this material commercially available? i would like to get some more info or buy a sample if possible. contact info. needed.
Huge difference in the coefficent of restitution!
I don't get what the comparison at 1:20 is supposed to demonstrate. I assume that both the materials were exposed to some kind of abrasion and that the BMG was less affected, but you don't clarify.
how do you set the shape for this... do you use a kiln
Now just imagine if the ball AND the block were made of BMG.
Absolutely fascinating
Very simple and educational video of rolling. You can find cam follower mechanism that can increase metal rolling energy efficiency at my youtube channel or at mechanicalresearch.info
what a strange material
Do you have a capacitor bank at your disposal? There is one at IIT Mumbai now. You can contact them about this as well. Or feel free to check out the website mentioned at the end of the video.
