MSE Egg Drop 2009
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.15 лет назад
Second-year Materials Science and Engineering students in MSE 361 Introduction to Mechanical Behavior of Materials drop raw eggs from 6th floor window to test the minimum amount of protective material needed to save the egg.
Shearing Using Electromagnetic Forming
Просмотров 30 тыс.15 лет назад
Electromagnetic formation of die cut shape of Ohio. Aluminum blank is placed on electromagnetic coil, and a die in the shape of Ohio is placed on top. Electric charge forces the blank against the die, causing the shape to be cut or sheared from the blank. Process is shown to produce a cleaner shear than traditional mechanical die cutting.

I don't get what the comparison at 1:20 is supposed to demonstrate. I assume that both the materials were exposed to some kind of abrasion and that the BMG was less affected, but you don't clarify.
