Some say that if you replace the slip yoke with a nickel plated one will solve the problem is this true?
I have heard of this also but I have never tried it, so not sure if it would solve this issue. Thanks!
Thanks for the attention to all details step by step along this repair project.
Described my problem exactly. Can't wait to try this. Thank you!
Good luck! Hope it works for you. Thanks!
96 k1500 350 here, my D and R both started doing makin a grinding noise and i cant even get a couple inches without it not accelerating and starts making the noise, itll shift into gear, i just cant not accelerate in drive or reverse. could this be the same issue?
Don’t think so. I had a similar issue and the grinding noise was from the rear differential. Had to replace the Differential Carrier Bearings. Good luck.
@@davelowe1963 is that job the same level of difficulty as this?
much more difficult. Have to open up the rear Differential, remove wheels and pull axels back and replace Differential guts basically. I had a transmission friend do mine. Wish I had a better answer for you.
@@davelowe1963 i watch some processes on it, found a better video that describes my problem closer. i think i could be the transfer case snap ring holding the output drivesahft in place is broken and when it slips out too far thats when it starts grinding
Mine was easy to diagnose as I could hear grinding noise in the rear differential and my truck would no longer move. Keep me updated when you find your actual issue. Thanks and good luck!

Where are the ground wires located...please help i can't seem to find them under the door frame
The ABS ground wire is located on the lower part of the frame on the drivers side pretty much straight down from the drivers door hinge.
Only have one under the door
Yes
@@davelowe1963 isn't like 3 of them?
Just looked at mine. It has 2 wires. My wife’s Tahoe only has 1.
Does the S-10 use this same module? My problem is intermittent but when it happens both the ABS and regular brake idiot lights come on simultaneously. They also go out simultaneously.
Not sure if it is the same model ABS module but I believe it is. I thinks S-10 modules are under the hood and much easier to access. Mine is a Kelsey-Hayes brand. Both my ABS and Parking brake lights also came on at the same time just like yours. Thanks for the comment and good luck!
It does this worked on my 2002 Chevy S10
Mine is a Kelsey Hayes also😊
You're a lifesaver. I never would've figured this out lol
Thanks!
Good tip to use flux, and cleaning your iron (tin then wipe, sometimes shocking it with a wet sponge) You should remove solder 1st though, using wicking braid and your iron. Place the braid on the joint and heat/push with the iron until the old solder wicks up into the braid. Also you don't want a ton of solder, that's actually a weaker connection. It's not bigger the blob, better the job. The joints should be clean, clear and concaved. Clean/clear mean shiny and mirror like. And be concave up the lead.

Hello sir may I ask ,about my car when I shifting to 2nd gear in uphill I heard weird noise under at the back of my car what's the problem that I need to fix ? Please give an advice.
I apologize, and wish I could help, but without driving your vehicle and hearing/feeling the problem, I would not be able to answer your concerns. Thanks.
I can't tell you how many machanics I have asked about this condition.
Hope the video shed some light on a possible repair. Thanks for the comment.
Good vid!! I sub'd for ya.👍
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks!!
great video, this is what i needed. I almost spent 2k on a new pinion and differential assembly. I will try this first but it sounds exactly what is happening to my truck.
Really hope this helps. It also worked on my Silverado but several years later my rear differential did need replacing although two totally different issues. Good luck!
what made you so sure that the problem is in the module?
I had tested my wheel sensors and they were fine. Also, abs light came on after driving a while and I believe heating up the solder joints. Just guessing, but I believe if a wheel sensor is bad, abs light probably will come on when hitting a bump. Mine was consistently turning on after about 5 miles of driving on the highway. Hope this helps and good luck. Thanks.
Thanks for using a pointer fingers don't work
Appreciate the comment.
Was there any otjer issue with your ABS module other than you had brake an ABS lights on?
No other issue with the ABS module. There are other reasons that cause the ABS and Brake light to come on including, a bad wheel sensor and sometimes a bad ground. This video just shows the repair for a very common ABS problem and what fixed the issue for my particular vehicle. Thanks!
Do u know if the process would be the same on a 03 chevy trailblazer
Not 100% sure, but I believe the abs modules are similar and assuming that the bad solder joints are the problem, then this repair should solve your issues. Thanks and good luck!
Thanks

Thank you for this video it absolutely helped me. The bolts for the engine mounts were seized/ I wasn’t strong enough to break them free so I couldn’t lift the engine but luckily was able to remove a bracket and had just enough room to pull that bottom bolt out. But again thank you so much!!!
Fantastic! Good thinking! Glad video helped and I hope you saved some money. Thanks for the comment!
@@davelowe1963 oh you definitely did! I totally wouldn’t been able afford to take it to a shop

So Glad I Found this Video I Just Got A 87 Safari Van And It Makes Noise In The Rear When You Put It In Gear Forward Or Reverse . Hope This Will Really Fix It
Good luck! Thanks for the comment!
Did it fix it, im having the same problem
it fixed it for me. Have not heard back from @veggiepowered.
You might have a bad u joint
did this fix it?
Wonderful detail.
Hope the video helped. Thanks for the comment!
If the code says a particular wheel hub is intermittant, do you so this first or change the hub/sensor?
I believe there is a way to test the wheel sensor using a multimeter on the sensor wire at the connector. Maybe check other RUclips videos on how to do it. Thanks.
Great video my man! I have a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe AWD and when i come to a stop i get this creaking/clunk/thud sensation. Only when i stop. This most likely the culprit. Question: do you notice the clunking when you try and twist the driveshaft with your hands? Or is it only when in motion? Thanks!!
The symptoms I had that was the cause for this repair, was that I would feel the clunk kind of under my seat, only when stopping or accelerating. If you can feel it just by twisting the driveshaft, it may be a u-joint, Pinion gear or rear differential problem. This video really addresses the fact that the drive shaft slip yoke sticks because of lack of lubrication. Hope this help! Thanks for the comment!
Did it end up being the fix? The teeth looked pretty grinded down
Yes, it did for me. Other things such as a bad u-joint, pinion gear or worn rear differential carrier assembly can also cause similar symptoms.
Very informative video and in depth in details, thank you for taking the time to make!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment!
Did i miss what your torque soec was on those 11mm bolts? I have a clunk hollow sound and i bet Sir you found it.!
I'm reading 18ft lbs on each of the 4. Hope this helps someone
My repair manual says the torque for the bolts is 19 ft lbs. Please check and see what the torque specs for your particular vehicle should be.
Good video. My 2002 Silverado 2500HD has the same problem intermittently but also dings/beeps…
Appreciate the comment!
@@davelowe1963 no problem man, I took the truck in to have the codes read and I guess my left front wheel speed sensor is erratic
ok ,but how do you not consider the u joints being a problem?
U-joints can cause a similar symptom. In fact, I had mine fail before and it was actually making a grinding noise. When the drive shaft is removed, perfect time to analyze the u-joint for failure. Thanks for the comment.
Finally 🎉 someone who actually details the problem. Great video man definitely subscribed now.
Appreciate the comment!
@@davelowe1963 Awesome details 👌 Does this introduce air into the brake lines if you take that off? Aren't all those brake lines?
This repair does not open any of the brake lines. You are only removing the computer module. Thanks!
How much will you charge me to do my 2000 Chevrolet truck. Enjoyed your video
Appreciate the question. I’m just a DYI guy and don’t hire out for repairs. Don’t know what a shop would charge for this repair. If you don’t want to do the soldering, I do know there are companies that will swap out a repaired module for a fee if you send them the old one. You just have to do the labor of removing the unit. Good luck and thanks!
I thought mine did that cause bad gears or cross joint
Worn pinion or carrier assembly in the rear differential can cause the same symptoms.
Thank you! I watched other videos on replacing the alternator, and they glossed over getting that bottom bolt out. That was the part I had the most trouble with. I spent an hour trying to get it, then watched this video, and everything became easy. Thank you for sharing!
Your welcome! Congratulations and glad the video helped! Thanks for the comment!
I have an 02 Silverado z71 doing this too. Dose anyone else have problems when slowing down for a turn then accelerating? It feels like there’s a little spin then a big clunk ? It also happens when I’m at a stop then accelerate a bit then a clunk ?
I have the same thing
Only video i could find that hit my symptoms on the head. I was worried my 2013 yukon was lossing a pinion or something but i have high hopes no.
My mechanic refuses to do this for me. Time for a new mechanic. Thanks for the help though.
Good luck. Thanks!
👍💯
Thanks!
You mentioned you may have stripped a screw on your Silverado and cut the head off. I too, on my Silverado stripped one screw. What was your technique on cutting off the screw head? My screw is the second one facing the ABS underneath. Thanks
If I remember correctly, I used a pair of wire cutters and just kept cutting little by little at the head of the screw. I’m sure there is a better way but that’s what I did. Not a whole lot of room to work in that area. Good luck! Thanks!
Very helpful video thank you
Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Great video and your tips are very helpful. What is the brand/model of your scan tool? I noticed you can erase ABS codes. Thanks
Thanks! The scan tool I use is called BlueDriver and I think it is about $100 on Amazon. Appreciate the comment!
Thanks for the great video. I have a 2002 suburban with an intermittent ABS light. I'll be pulling the module and soldering it tomorrow. I just need to find some of that heat transfer Grease.
Nicely put together video, thanks for sharing
