RON CAPPS Interview: Challenges To Start The Year
Appreciate It Don.
There's always someone that comes up with something.. man I bet every racer could write a book on that.
0:27 *OMG!* Look at that matching diagonal red/white/blue emblem on Donny's left tit. Identical to the emblem on the front of the wing. Do you know what it stands for? What it represents? *OHIO FOR KAMALA HARRIS* Plastered all over his cloths & car. Disgusting!
1:10 *OMG!* Look at that left front torsion arm. The tire has rubbed half-way through it. This comes from being all crossed up sideways in the corners. All out of shape. Driving for a superficial photo-op on a T-Shirt or lunch box.
Used to watch D.S. at devils bowl back in the day one of my favorite drivers along with Sammy Swindell I remember almost every time I saw karl kinser he was usually underneath with a tiny file taking a little bit off here and there because he figured out for every pound you took off you would gain like 4 more horsepower to me he was the smokey yunick of WoO
You didn't watch Donnie Schatz with Swindell or Karl Kinser. Nobody had heard of Schatz when Karl retired & Swindell was in semi retirement by the time Schatz was making his name & winning. Karl would have never had the fame he had if not for Steve driving. The biggest change in sprints was when Gambler added the diagonal down tubes from the top of the cage to the front end. This stiffened the chassis so much that minimal adjustments on the torsion bars made a difference in handling. I knew Chuck Merrill, founder & owner of Maxim Chassis(less than a mile from my old house in Spfld. IL), & have had beers & dinner with Steve Kinser, his wife & crew so I know a lillte about what I'm talking about.
I am in Knoxville lowa
Awsome
If you know SBC’s, it’s really funny to hear a Ford and its firing order with Donny Schatz. I’m not saying it’s slow but just odd to hear.
I am in Knoxville lowa
How good !
Great video !
Ford..😅😅
❤❤❤❤badass.man...
Sheesh! Just let bugs crawl all over Donny why don't cha?
😂Those darn lantern bugs were on him for a good bit there lol
Schatz talking shock's..
good vid!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching!
That car looks new, I suspect it is. Well presented car.
great video.. i didn't realize how the wing work in different ways
@@Pbeats100 thank you! Its insane how much the wing can make or break a driver’s night
Go Donny‼️😎👍👍
Danny Shatz broke down a sprint car for us in real time on lap 1 of the Nationals 🤣
Love Donny Schatz !! .. Great guy from North Dakota !! .. super super nice guy!
no critical thinkers in the sport like karl was, they cant even get the front bumper lined up correctly to protect the front wing. experiment, try making it a little bigger. how many guys go to the rear because they tapped the wing because the bumper wasn't effective.
Carman Manzardo set quick time @ WoO show. Go look up what he was driving.
Didn’t know the bumper that protects the torsion bars was supposed to protect the wing which is a foot over top of the wing. How bout they build your style bumper for the top wing also!?!? Just STFU
4:00 if you read the rules, front car can’t be bigger, forget the measurement.
There are some very smart individuals in the pits area, because of rules packages, the shock program has become the dominant point of interest on sprint cars.
Not all of them are like this guy. An honest and likable guy that didnt let 10 championships go to his head. Go the Fords.
Most likely the cleanest driver out there, you never see him make dirty moves on other drivers!
@@robertpcrowther OMG! Cleanest? Go review what he did to Lynton Jeffries on the front stretch at Knoxville. Listen to commentator Brad Doty's voice when Schatz threw 2 of the most ridiculous slide jobs at Swindell @ the 2010 Knoxville Nationals. Schatz chooses to drive for the Sprint Car Owners equivalent of Charles Manson. And why is he running those Ford + Tony = Fony engines? Cause Chevy won't have anything to do with him.
@@raymond3803Jeffrey*
@@raymond3803you’re highly uneducated, go back to your mother’s basement.
@@raymond3803wow you sure have a big mouth, comparing Tony Stewart to Charles manson hmmm. The Lyndon Jeffery crash was an accident, Lyndon had a run on the outside, how was schatz supposed to see him up there. You should seriously STFU
Big Daddy has the encyclopedia of drag racing in his head!! "THE GOAT" of TopFuel.😊😊😊
Watched Dave, Dale, but even more of his dad Lou. Watched his dad at super dirt week in Syracuse New York run a big block modified and jump out and get in his sprint car and do it again ! Can’t even begin to count how many races I seen his dad run being from western Pa , Sharon speedway was only a 30 minute drive ! The GOOD OLD DAYS or should I say the GREAT OLD DAYS,
And Tony just who designed that Cockpit, I believe it was me James Brendel!
Wow, that’s so cool! I found a few articles on you, just incredible work you did to make them safer!
1981, I was a 17-year-old pit steward working for Greg Weld @ 1-70 Speedway (dirt) $40/night. Sammy was driving #1N for Lavern Nance. Marsh wheels had just introduced their fluorescent orange bead lock rings. I was looking at Sammy's when he walked up near me. I asked; What the orange ring was for? Sammy said: *_A repellant, keeps dogs from pissing on your wheels._* I believed him ...................... Prick!
🐐
larry is one of the best drivers in top fuel , that I have ever seen !!!
I loved watching John when he was young ,,he was very hyper and loud talking I'm still loving his inthousiasum ,,I'm praying for his recovery and I am looking forward to seeing him race this year GOD BLESS YA JOHN N PEACE
Maple Grove Raceway ROCKS !!! That is all .. as you were
Great interview mate. Watching from Australia. 😊👍
I appreciate your kind words! Thanks for watching. Always cool to hear my videos are reaching you guys! Definitely want to interview more drivers in the series
I feel the same way John. I just decided to start working at the racetrack now I work for NHRA @IRP THE BIG GO!
Love hearing Don tell stories. We drove down to Ocala from Minnesota in April and took the personal tour with Don. Absolutely worth it!
Definitely gonna have to check that place out sometime, it looks fantastic!
I’m amazed how much Don Garlits sounds like Stone Cold Steve Austin
😂I never thought of that! Someone should have their voices side-by-side and compare
Awesome guy.
🚩🇺🇸America is was Always Great or have you forgot🗳💙🫡🇺🇸👈🏾

This man is a national treasure!
You aint got a fuqin thing i want to hear!
Great interview. The museum is open 7 days a week, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed Thanksgiving and Christmas. I live 15 minutes away, and started volunteering there 7 years ago. I'm there at least 4 times a week. Everything that you see in the museum, I dust, and I get to see Don all the time. He is a great man.
@@100beachbum thank you! I appreciate you watching! That’s really cool, I’m sure you never get tired of walking through the museum and checking out everything. Definitely a place I need to head out to here soon!
NASCAR sucks. F1 is much better, as the cars go quicker, and the tracks are actual tracks, not just dumb circles
@@benjaminkepler8248 No. 1, don’t know why you’re commenting about NASCAR when I didn’t talk about NASCAR in the video. No. 2, they race on 5 road & street courses this year, so not just “dumb ovals.”
Is that why you kicked me out? I was best friends with Robbin Miller. I Know the truth.
Mario, why did you almost hit me in your golf cart in the infield.? I met Paul Newman. He was surprisingly small. Tiny guy. 5"2"maybe. 120lbs. Topps
