Possie Have done exactly as your video except I haven’t put the piggy back in just connecting the new fridge ando plug direct to the rear anderson on the ranger Still getting error 6 and resetting does nothing Runs fine on gas and 240 Its doing my head in Thanks for any help
Have you checked for voltage drop to the fridge, what grade wire did you use to run your anderson, with the caravan unplugged from the mains take your lower fridge vent off and check your supply and earth on the 12v side there will be 3 positive connections, one from your caravan battery, will be there whether or not your plugged into your anderson, this supplies power to your fridge display and lights inside, one will be when your trailer plug is plugged in and engine is running (D+) and one when your anderson is connected, this one needs to have good voltage at the fridge, you should see over 12volts at the fridge when its plugged in. Check voltage at the battery, then again at your socket, then again at your fridge, its a long run and with the wrong gauge wire you will drop voltage, this could be your issue. My caravan has an inline fuse on the drawer bar for the fridge also, check that's ok, you will know because there will be no voltage at your fridge connections behind your vent. Here's a basic wiring diagram which may help you dometicrvcentre.com.au/documentmanager/item/681 mine is wired as in figure 1
@@Richard-Tanya Thanks for that. So the original and factory anderson plug is wired thru the ignition I have just tried running it off a anderson plug connected directly from the battery (its for the esc) and works fine then i started the car and went into error again. I think it is the complicated ford ranger electronics Thank you very much for what u have given me
@ check that your power outlet between the rear seats (in the rear of the center consol) is working, if your ranger has been wired the same as mine it seems the D+ is taken from this circuit, if it doesn't work then the fuse is blown..
There is like an eco setting you need to use - its got a picture of a leaf? from memory. I was having the same issue last week with the red flashing error code 6 and it was doing my head in. Got hold of a manual and followed the instructions - yes I know its against blokes code to do that.
Thanks for this video, I was considering one but now am just going to stick with the metal one we have, it is much simpler :)

Thanks for supporting our channel :)
You're kidding? You don't have a voltage sensing relay to prevent your car starting battery being drained by both your house battery and fridge! What a half-baked solution! You'll end up with more problems than you fixed!
My starting battery is charged via a dc/dc charger so there is no need for a voltage sensing relay, yes a voltage sensing relay would work well to stop having to disconnect when parked up, however I don't have a problem with simply unplugging and switching over to gas when parked up. When I finally run the second anderson to the back of the car I will change the plug colours and put it on a VSR, but this works just fine in the meantime :) Thanks for your input.
What made you get 3 spaniels
I find myself asking the same question often :)

I've been driving exactly the same one for 9 months now. It is fantastic and won't let you down.
I am towing with mine a lot and yes you definitely need weight distribution bars and tows great.
I took delivery of my Rexton Ultimate December 2023 and currently sitting on 18000kms. Done significant towing of my Coromol 22ft van and found the power to be very good with great fuel consumption. VERY comfortable drive. My ONLY complaint is cap price service disappointment..... quoted standard 30000km service this month (2 year service) I have to pay extra for the front diff oil and fuel filter replacement. Although it has only done 18000km I have to do the 2 year 30000km service. This adds +$300 to the"capped price" service price. NEVER had this with my other capped price car services. Anyone else had this issue? Would appreciate some feedback. Happy with EVERYTHING EXCEPT this false capped price claim. When I questioned why the oil needs replacement after 18000kms, they said I do not need to buy will lose my warranty on that component! Cheers Luke
Sorry.... bought the car 2022.... not 2023...
Yes the capped price is a bit of a joke, you have to look at items which are due by their schedule and add that to the basic price, simply I service the car at work, I work for mycar and the vehicle is a leased vehicle, that way I can keep the cost down :)
@@Richard-Tanya thanks for the feedback
Здравствуйте,подскажите пожалуйста, головное освещение в как ночью освещает дорогу?

I will add a second video of the night vision and the interior illumination:)
Very nice. What is/was the Litres per 100 with & without towing ?
Towing 2,5t, 3 adults and 2 kids in the vehicle 13.5 - 14 l per 100. 17 - 19 l when strong headwind. 7.4 l per 100 when not towing with 2 adults and 2 kinds in the vehicle.
@@MegaAnufriev yup, economy is very good without towing in the 7/8s, weve only towed once with it and was a short tow on a windy day and saw 19l but felt that on a longer tow it would drop to 14/15 so glad that's what you're getting Anton
Nice review and nice car. While towing my caravan with my Rexton, I accidentally took a wrong turn that led me to a very steep hill somewhere around Bells Beach. I thought I wasn't going to make it, but Rexton performed well.
Yes Anton, I was super impressed with the power whilst towing, we will be adding airbags to the rear of ours as the WDH does cause a little Por poising and I feel the airbags will help settle the Rexton when towing a heavy van. All in all a very capable tow vehicle :)
Just another note of interest for all, before i started my work here which was all donated for free for the last now 11 months, the total donations for 10 years was a bit over $400, since i started all my work we have received another $2,000 and this is the money that has paid for the toilets to be cleaned out and soon to be all painted, ( Cost us heaps of $$$ ) left over money ( Change ) is going towards table's and seats for some spots around the reserve as we get more donations in, I highly recommend this Freshwater Lake Reserve, 7K's North of Dunkeld to all 🙂 I love Australia and now work for free to make this place great for all to enjoy. Regards Mick Williams.
Mick, this place is a true gem, you should be proud of the hard work you've put it, well worth the donation to stay here :), thanks for getting in touch :)
The toilets here have now been pumped out, I was donated money by campers and i made sure that money was spent to clean the toilets out, so all good now 🙂 i will soon be painting the toilets also 🙂
The freshwater Lake Reserve is taken care by me, in the last 10 months I have brought $30,000 in machines and I pay out of my own pocket for all the fuel and servicing etc ( Currently this year it has cost me $8,000+ ) I do all the work and get no help from anyone, ( there is a total of 10 committee members ? ) I myself have spent 10 months straight getting this total weed infested land up to what it is now, it still needs heaps of work but I am the only person doing all the work, ( all peoples poo & toilet paper picked up by me ) I cut and supply all the wood around at the camps, I personally paid for lights at the toilets and pay out of my own pocket for the hand sanitizer & some of the toilet paper, I have done over 600 hours work at the Lake for free as I said, the lookout was added by me, I have cleaned up all around the lake with whipper snipper and chainsaw of dangerous limbs many, many times, I personally paid for all star pickets and green pine posts to try and stop people driving up to the lookout and also used in other places around the lake, I brought in many, many loads of dirt and gravel with my tipper trailer each trip was 60k's there and back. I get zero help from other committee members as there just not interested in keeping it as clean and tidy as I have been doing, but they are very interested in the donation money they are getting because of all my free work, at this point with out help from other's I don't think the Lake will be taken care of next year sadly as other committee members have a agenda that is not inline with %99 of fellow Australians, This lake is Crown Land which means you can camp here and also have fires, but the current committee want to restrict this which I am not at all happy about, I started doing all this to help the Dunkeld businesses out and give Aussie locals & travellers a place that is tidy and clean for everyone to enjoy. I went passed your camp and remember seeing you as I am at the Lake most days of the week, I would like to thank you for your drone footage it makes me proud to know all the before and then your footage and your review that things I myself have achieved in 10 months. Regards Mick Williams.
That's awesome Tanya, great stuff, hope your feeling better soon, keep on smiling 😃
When you turned your power back on, the 12v water pump came on. Just curious how long the switch was off for, as the pump coming on to rebuild the pressure may indicate a small water leak. Also thanks for the tip on securing the roll out pantry.
The water pump had been off since the last time the van was used, probably a few weeks at least, as you saw in the video the first thing I did was switch the pump off again on the tablet, but yes, you are right it should hold pressure for a while, I always crack my taps open to release the pressure when not using the van :) Thats why the pump ran up for a bit, thanks for pointing it out, it could indicate a problem in some cases, thanks for watching and commenting.
50km/h in VIC applies to a “built up zone”. That doesn’t look like a built up zone. Copper is exploiting a loop hole in SA law. He would sit off that spot everyday. Changing the world, one intercept at a time.
Brilliant idea regarding the filter, adding the brass connections. We do plan on doing a similar thing when we get our van next year, so thanks for the tip regarding brass. As for the stone protection, we plan on sticking to sealed roads, but this is Australia, so there's likely to be road works for the last (and next) 6 months on some sections of highway, throwing you on poorly, or unsealed roads for anything up to a few km at a time. It only takes one rock in the wrong place to crack a water pipe, smack an electrical cable, or even hit the handle of a tank drain, leaving you with big issues. Simple split conduit protection of electrical cables, split foam insulation on water pipes, mudflaps at the front of the van, and strategic underbody stone guards made from shade cloth can cost just a few hundred dollars in total, but extend the life of the exposed parts massively, and thus give you a higher chance of a problem-free holiday. I do like your idea of metal valves as well. Oh and you earned a new subscriber too - thanks for the video
Thank you so much for watching and interacting with us, we just wanted to share our experience so far and are aware that one size does not fit all when it comes to these things, but if just a couple of things jog something that you hadn't thought of then our work is done :) Thanks for the support!
Hi Richard, ice just warched your video and im doing the same thing, just curious. Can the fridge pull amps from the battery given its off the Y piece anderson? Cheers Michael
Hi, thanks for commenting/watching, The fridge cannot pull amps from the caravan battery as the Y lead goes straight to my Victron 100/50 DC DC charger and there is no voltage on the input side until it is plugged into the car, however you do need to disconnect the anderson from the car when parking up for any overnight or extended stops as it will pull current from your car battery if left connected :)
This was the type of information I needed before taking my new inflatafence away (no room at home for a test run). Thanks!
@@lianedegville3093 thanks for watching:)
How many dogs do you have while travelling? What breed and size are they? Did they get used to the fencing quickly?

@@Richard-Tanya Hi Richard , I am doing the same with a dcdc25amp charger that 8 BS is sufficient. I did questioned it though
@@chrisminas1081 I’m guessing it may depend on the charger, I never had a problem with my camper trailer, using a projecta dcdc, but with the Victron it was having none of it, if you check out my build series on my caravan electrics you will see my setup :)

When you installed your chaser panel Anderson did you also add a inline fuse? Or did you just plug it directly into your bmpro pro.
Thanks, Richard!
Do you think it will draw enough air around the front? There is not much air gap for it to pull air, and the fans will prevent air coming in from outside.
it does actually draw quite well, you can actually feel the air being pushed out from outside the van, i did use a smoking candle to check if air was being drawn around the front and it was. I guess time will tell, can't be any worse than the standard Swift microwave which overheated and broke down when it was used on a warm 38-degree day. I was dubious to start with but after checking the temperatures around it using the convection oven and microwave, I'm much more confident now. Thanks for the comment :)
Great video Richard, it's unfortunate how cheaply caravans are built these days. 😊
Hello, I've been following your RUclips channel and I noticed that your channel isn't getting the views and subscribers it deserves due to some SEO issues.
Hi can you provide a link to the mudflaps you installed on the front of your caravan. Thanks.

Love the setup. I have a 18 WK2 Trailhawk and I'd like to do something very similar to this. We do not have a rear bar that fits our Diesel model due to the DEF tank behind the OEM USDM hitch.
Nice one mate, good to see an actual review versus an AD.
Thanks, i see they want $80 aud for a new one 🙄
there's nothing worse than corrugation's lol, we tried the oodnadatta track ,it started out great got 50kl out of William creek to camp for our first night and blew a tyre as well as destroying our caravan electric breaks so that was the end of out trip , had to drive very carefully to Coober pedy. Kimba has a nice big donation camp with showers and toilets.
Mate, that's a bit rough getting a ticket out there. I would've said it was an 80 km zone, but then again, don't argue the copper. We learn something new every day

Yes that’s it :) thank you :)
50kms rule was interesting. I would've believed that was still a country road too.
Too be honest I wasn’t even thinking about it, but would have assumed I was in an 80 zone, I think that’s why he gave me a break, my lucky day :)
😅😅😅😅😅😅
most vans aint designed for long haul corrugations, regardless when they say they are off road vans or not, plenty suffer damage---some roads are best avoided when towing
Yup, looking at how this van faired during this trip we can see definitely areas that needed reinforcement, overall happy with the Franklin and yes agreed, best to avoid the bad corrugations where possible:)
I have got the same microwave, must have the same problem then :(
I will have a look at your setup at the weekend :)
