My blog: www.flytying.ro and my business site: www.troutline.ro
I own TroutLine which is a family business created in 2004 in Transylvania.
Even if it’s a young business, it has strong and deep roots, as the family members have been passionate fishermen for 3 generations. It all started with one of the grandfathers that built swivel spoons from silver coins from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Then he would also tie flies from hemp or Carpathian Shepherd Dog hair and he would wrap a rooster or hen feather that he took from the poultry in his own courtyard. However, these are old stories :)
In 2015 I decided to give up my career as engineer in physics and I started working for my family business (TroutLine).
From the moment I started taking care of the family business, I didn't work a single day. Because fishing and fly tying is my passion.
Now I spend as much time fishing with my kids and friends :)

Sparkle Nymph: A New Approach with a Vibrant, Moving Thorax
Here's a different approach to nymph thorax construction. Adding movement and sparkle simultaneously can be highly effective in specific conditions, such as cloudy weather, muddy water, or when targeting aggressive fish.

How to fish it:
-Focus on areas around rocks and structures to provoke an attack. Deep pools and strong currents often hold more active fish, making these spots ideal for nymphing and using these type of flies.

-thread: any you like, I prefer Sumo or GSP in brown

Here's the longer version of how I tie the Olive CDC Emerger, which allows you to see the steps better during tying. CDC emergers are a must-have in any fly fishermen arsenal due to their realistic appearance, excellent buoyancy, and versatility in mimicking emerging insects. Hello Lucian, thank you for very good fly and recipe!
@@alvydass4004 thanks 😄
Beautiful! Nice work
thanks!
Much more durable with this technique also. Well done.
thanks :) yes, the fly is quite easy to tie and resists a lot :)
45+ years ago when I had much better eyesight, I used to use 22 and 24 hooks, 12 oz hook length and a 1 1/2 lb mainline with pinkies as the bait for river roach and dace. So I realise just how tiny a 22 hook is and the skill needed to tie this tiny fly.
Here, in Central and East Europe, we love to fish for grayling. This fish can be extremely picky and these flies are perfect for such situations :). I completely understand. Forty-five years ago, it would have been much harder to do something like this. Back then, materials were scarce and not nearly as good as what we have today. It brings back memories of my grandfather's flies. I know how much work he put into them, and let's just say, he wasn't thrilled when a few boxes went missing every now and then. Cheers and thank you for your comment and sharing your experience with me :)
@@LucianVasies Grayling _(Thymallus thymallus)._ The lady of the Stream. They even smell like Thyme. hence their latin name. they are simply stunning fish. Especially those males with the extra large dorsal fin. And if you hold one and catch it in the light, it shimmers all colours and looks like it's been bathed in a light oil. Dare I ask what you do with them? Eat or return? And if you eat them, what do they taste like? I'm only asking as I used to catch trout for the table.
@@thezanzibarbarian5729 Hi :). I practice catch and release most of the time. However, when I fish far north (like in Lapland), I might keep one or two fish for a fresh meal. If I'm by a riverbank, I'll usually catch a fish or two and cook them on a fire right there. On lakes, though, I prefer to catch a couple of perch. I find their flavor superior. Sometimes I might keep a trout or two, but I stick to smaller sizes, around 30cm. Anything bigger goes back in. As for grayling, I don't target them for food. Their meat is delicate and lean, which can be bland when cooked outdoors.
Hello Lucian, thank you for this fly and interesting tying technik!
Hi , I'm glad you find it useful :) It is super simple technique I learned more than 20 years ago :)
Genius! Thank you 🙏
Hi Scott, I'm glad you like it :)
Looks very nice
Thanks, I'm glad that you like it :)
I’m tying some of these up. That little sucker is gonna work.
@bobmatuzak2263 thanks, I'm glad you like it:)
I remember how i wished i had this fly when trout would only go for the teeny tiny green midge fly i got skunked !
next time you will have it for sure :). Try it in black as well, is working fabulous :)
I have tiny black mosquitos but the bugs I saw were green my guess they look like aphids with tiny white wings
Je me demande sur nos rivières Bretonnes, si cette imitation fonctionnerait. Merci pour ce partage de vidéo 👍👏
Bonjour Michel, merci pour le commentaire, je suis contente que ce modèle vous plaise :) Cordialement!
Hello Lucian, thank you for interesting fly and video recipe!
@alvydass4004 thanks, much appreciated 😁
Very nice!! I need a pattern like this and was just now contemplating on what kind of pattern that I need for my situation. This video came out just in time. I’m tying it, thanks!!
@wvlongshooter3912 I'm glad you like it. Try it in black as well , will work great 😄

Like your music cool little fly 👍😎
@@sage088 thanks 😀
Pretty cool! I've made small streamers,#12, using hackle fibers in olive over pink over white that looked good. I'd imagine cdc would give much better action. Thanks for the inspiration, 😃👍
Thanks for your appreciation and sharing your version. I will try to reproduce it and fish it to see how it works😊
@@LucianVasies thank you!
That is an awesome looking little streamer! Nice tie!
Thanks, much appreciated ❤
thank you for sharing
What nymph is that, the Frenchy?
Hello Lucian, thank you for really productive fly!!!
Thank you, I'm glad you like it :) All credit for this fly goes to Edy Dona :)
I’m really enjoying my Sumo thread. It’s a lot better than that Semper fli crap.
Hi mate, I'm glad you like it. Sumo is a GSP type of thread which is slightly twisted to keep the micro yarn fibers close . That is, it does not come apart and still sits flat :) have fun tying :)
Finally, a perfectly tied PT. Thanks!!
very kind of you, much appreciated :)
I tie a fly that’s very similar and it’s so effective. I’m going to add some of your materials into my fly. Thanks for the tie!!
Thanks for your kind words :)
An absolutely stunning fly , thanks !!!
Thanks, I'm glad you like it :)
Wow good job!
Thanks:)
Very nice,looks very tasty.
Thanks a lot , much appreciated :)
Great patters! I also tie it with orange mylar and green mylar with peacock color dubbing.
Thanks for your appreciation :) And yes, your pattern is excellent too :)
Hello Lucian, thank you for another great fly and video recipe!👍
Thanks, much appreciated :)
Nice fly ! It's clean and simple, kind of reminds me of a "north country spider" pattern
thanks, is made based on those classic flies :)
very good👍
thanks, much appreciated :)
Hello Lucian, thank you for this good fly!👍
Thank you, super appreciate it 😊🤟
Is this type of fly fished in creeks and streams or just in Stillwater’s ? Thanks!!
Hi mate, the fly works all over, lakes, big rivers and creeks as well :)
Your videos are so good, so great. I really enjoy watching your videos. Wishing you lots of health and success
Thanks a lot, much appreciated :)
I have not heard of the Sumo Power thread and I like to tie small flies (down to size 30). A quick google search does not indicate any fly shops here in the USA that sell it. Any ideas how this compares to Nano Silk?
Hi David, thanks for your comment. Please contact Devin Olsen (Tactical Fly Fisher), his shop stocks lots of Trout Line products. Sumo is a type of GSP thread from the last generation.
Great work.
Thanks Steve, very kind of you :)
How did you attach the cdc?

Very nice 👌 👍
Thanks Joe :)
and the "wheel" re-invented again. looks alot like many soft hackles from days gone by, just a bead added. adding any weight to the shank will make most regular hooks into a "jig" style. try using the rotary function to its full capabilities, any materials that are "wrapped" will be more even and alot faster. a half-hitch knot with the thread around the shank and materials can wrapped in either direction when using the bobbin cradle
Sure, thanks a lot for your advice :)
