'WHIPLASH' proved to have the CRAZIEST Breakdown to have ever existed in Architects' discography and it was a very welcome surprise! 😊
These boys never fail to bring something new to the table, but still put out incredibly catchy stuff.
The ending breakdown has this ritardando and a change in tempo, which was throwing me off a LOT, so at the end of the final take, as you will see, I finally managed to get it close and I was REALLY happy... and exhausted 😂😂

hey, great cover! Do you have any advice for the sixteen notes on the hi-hat, every time i try to play this song my left hand gets really tired, thanks!
Hey! Hmm, honestly, my advice would be not to overgrip your stick with the left hand because that can be why it fatigues quicker. Personally, in the video I didn't use any special techniques for the left hand, just simple wrist motion. So yeah, try not to overgrip the stick, and start with a lower tempo, then gradually get it up to speed. I hope this would help you! 🔥🤘

Kick sounds way better in the after clip, but too much of the snare's fundamentals were taken away. I also think the overheads could come up a bit. Can barely hear the china.
Thanks for the feedback, dude! About the snare, this time it was a bit of an experiment on my side to see how close I could match it with my reference mix (being the False Meridian Original Playthrough). Yeah, it did change quite a bit, and on my other vids it's way closer to the original 😉. About the overheads, these Meinl Extreme Classics cymbals are very thick and heavy and I am just getting accustomed to them - they require some HARD hitting to respond nicely, especially the china. So imma keep that in mind in the future. If you listened to it on phone speakers, you can try to check the mix out on a pair of headphones or something and then tell me what you think! Appreciate you, bro 🔥
@@MichaelTomovDrums I checked it out on my KRK studio monitors lol. I've also got a set of Meinl Classic Custom Dark cymbals on my kit in the basement. They're also very heavy, and I find they respond better with some heavier sticks. If you're using VSTs for the processing, I highly recommend the Universal Audio LA2X grey for the snare and the Klanghelm SDRR for the overheads and room. I find they work perfectly.
