Helene adrift...

An over-aggressive launch sends Helene (completely clueless in boat control) on a dead drift out into Lake Hopatcong... First let me say, the distance you see poor Helene at as the video opens is only about half of the distance she ultimately drifted out to (she's the little gray dot moving about the boat). By this point about 15 minutes had passed, she had accepted her fate and had been franti...

    I have a question, I purchased the Marmot limelight 2p based on the curved bottom part of the poles that gives a vertical wall clearance… This does not look like that… Or am I wrong.

      Apparently Marmot frequently changes the design of this model of tent, and there is no easy way to know all the differences between versions.

    How tall are you man? I'm tried of my head and feet touching either end of the tent. So if your a tall guy how roomy would you say it is?

    • @SPaladiniTV
      @SPaladiniTV 8 лет назад

      I'm a little over 5'10"... I've been in that tent with my gear and have not felt too cramped, and have not had any issues with my feet touching when I'm laying in the tent.

    Do you know if you can put this tent in a compression stuff sack or a smaller sack without the poles to make more room in a backpack, without damaging the tent. I have never seen this tent in person so I don't know, especially what the vent props are made of. Don't want to break anything, and don't want to make holes in the tent. Thank You. Great Video!!

      @SPaladiniTV 8 лет назад

      +akaredcrossbow Hi there... you absolutely can. I've stuffed it into a compression sack and lashed the poles to the side of my pack every time I've taken this tent primitive camping in NYS. Really the only concerning part of the tent that you should keep protected from breakage are the pole clips. I just pay attention to where they are as I'm pushing the tent into the compression sack to make sure they're not taking a lot of stress.

    Does the rainfly leak at all? I'm more concerned about the zipper leaking. Thank You

      @TheMuskyChronicles 9 лет назад

      +akaredcrossbow Hi... I can honestly say that I've never experienced a leak. I've had this tent on many trips where it has rained HARD, and I haven't had a problem. That said, I'm very anal about my rainfly set up. I use all the guy line points and keep my fly as rigid as i can and separated from the main wall.

    Hi Mike... I believe that weight is with the footprint as well. I've never had an issue with the doors. It's a small tent, so you're not going to waltz in and out of it, but as far as operating them, and crawling in and out, I find them to be fine. I'm 5'10" so i'm a little shorter than you...

    Do you know if the footprint is included in the total weight of 6lbs, 11oz? Also, how easy are the doors to get in and out of? I ask because I had an old quarter dome with tear drop shaped doors that were somewhat similar to these and i found it frustrating to get in and out of but these look like they might be a little bigger/easier. I am 6', 2". Your thoughts on the doors? Thanks for the video!

    When in doubt, read the instructions sewn on the stuff sack. The fly has color-coded ends so it can be positioned correctly the first time. Nice tent. Thanks for the video.

    Hi! I'm planning to buy one of this, so i'd wanna know if you recomend it. I'm particularly conserned about condensation, it being truly weather proof and resistance against wind. what do you think about that? Sorry if you already said that in the video, but i can't understan english very well. Thank you!

    • @SPaladiniTV
      @SPaladiniTV 9 лет назад

      NewConfucius Hi... I can say that I took this tent up to the Adirondacks for some primitive camping and it DOWN POURED for 3 out of the 5 nights up there with winds blowing pretty hard as well. I had the rain fly set up and guy-lines attached at all points. I had zero clammy condensation in the mornings, and the inside of the tent was completely dry.

    Wow that was pretty fast, I haven't bought a tent in years but i remember them being a real pain in the arse to set up. THanks for the upload! How do you like the Limelight 3? I'm debating between the 3 and the 2..

    • @SPaladiniTV
      @SPaladiniTV 10 лет назад

      Honestly... I look back at this video and can't believe how painfully slow it seems the set-up is. Now that I'm familiar with the tent, it's usually up in under 5 mins. I LOVE the Limelight 3. I was also in the 2p vs 3p debate when I purchased it. I like to have my pack in the tent with me when I'm backpacking, I'm 5'11" and 210lbs, I personally think the 2p may be a little tight for that. To me, the slight increase in pack size and overall weight was worth it for the additional room.

    I'm deciding between the dark green vs the orange blue. What does the inside of the tent look like with the green? I'm concerned that it would be really dark. Is there much of a difference in light inside between the two colors?

    • @SPaladiniTV
      @SPaladiniTV 10 лет назад

      Hi... I don't find the interior of the green tent to be too dark. I've slept in the orange colored Marmots, and actually find the green to be more pleasing to wake up to in the morning than the bright orange. Obviously, small items will stand out better in the lighter colored tent, but it's not like they get completely lost in the green tent. Hope that helps!

      Thanks!! Since posting the video I’ve become much more proficient in setting the tent up. This tent is so easy to set up, it’s crazy. I had it out in the Adirondacks last year during an overnight deluge… I was certain I’d wake up to (at least) a puddle somewhere in the tent… However, much to my very happy surprise, I woke up completely dry and comfortable as I listened to the rain spattering against the fly. This tent still gets my two thumbs up.

    very creative. I could use the platform of an older Summit climbing stand I have to match the same setup you have. Haven't purchased a cam just yet, but doing the research. First I have heard of the remote; which is definitely the route to take. Make sure to post the vid of a Monster buck down on the horizon.

    Thanks, Jeff! I'm using the Hero3 Black set at wide angle. Here's the rig: I took an Ameristep Grizzly and stuck in in the tree just above my tether, then I got the GoPro handlebar mount (see link in the video description), attached the 3-way pivot arm and the rubberized adapter that the mount comes with, and clamped it directly to the step. I use the WiFi remote to trigger the cam from my pocket once I see deer coming in.

    looks perfect. I am looking to do the same next week for the first time. Which camera did you go with? and more importantly, how did you mount the camera like it is in the vid?

  • @SPaladiniTV
    @SPaladiniTV 11 лет назад

    The rope is your guy lines for your rain fly and the little mesh screen is your gear loft (it attaches to four little rings on the inside ceiling of the tent).

  • @SPaladiniTV

    Well... Like I said... I literally JUST took the tent out for the first time, and didn't know what to expect, or how anything worked. The point was to show how easy/hard this tent was to set up cold. After using it all season, it goes up in a matter of minutes... It's an awesome tent!
