This is unedited tape from my VHS Camera/Recorder, I realise that it falls short of todays digital output but this was 1988 and 30 years is a long time, after all it is better than nothing so I hope you enjoy it.

If there was a true working class hero, with balls the size of an elephant, it was Fred, fearless friend of the people of Bolton and surrounding countries. Steeple jack, incredibly talented steam engineer and comedian. Definitely missed by all that knew him and those who didn’t. Absolutely a legend and god of the chimney and churches too. R I P LAD

He used to say if you meet someone from Bolton within 5 minutes they will tell you they're from Bolton. I can confirm this to be true and has made me laugh at inappropriate moments when being told without asking "I'm from Bolton" 😂. Thanks Fred

Does anyone remember Fred being banned for driving for 12 months in July 1988?. No I'm not making this up, this was mentioned in the Liverpool Echo newspaper dated 25th July 1988 which I came across recently. None of the Fred Dibnah series seem to mention this.

Wonderful character who I had the pleasure of meeting many years ago. Never tire of watching his stuff and listening to his tales. This was a great clip of Fred really drawing people into his world for an hour. Pity the poe faced woman behind him struggled to raise a smile most of the time and found her watch more interesting. I think she perhaps some of Fred's dialogue was lost on her! R.I.P Fred and thanks for sharing your fantastic memories.
