So as much as you don't follow up on content. The dog turned out great but I know you wont show that part because you have your own agenda that you want to push out because you think this is a bad way of training. I have trained my dog the exact say way maybe not as hard of a correction with the prong collar but a correction say the least. And my dog still greets me at the door with kisses. So sir I am gonna disagree with you on this guy training, you have absolutely no idea how to correct bad dog behavior.

Agenda? You can feel free to get into the group and read all the dog owner success stories. All the ones that have fired trainers and did it on their own. Imagine building a relationship with a dog first - then train? Could you imagine someone pushing that terrible agenda? I"m such an arsehole eh? If you want to keep paying trainers to screw up your dog? I assume you're a grown adult - feel free. And have a lovely day.

Do you have suggestions for owners on how to calm down so that your dog can calm down and just be a dog without feeling a need to protect them and also what to look for in signs that your dog is getting nervous or at risk of reacting? Right now I have been trying to focus on being calm and trusting him while watching for his hackles going up, putting his chin over other dog's back or trying to hump (I was told that is an attempt at domination and so poor dog etiquette), and/or mouth closing and lip licking - and once I see that, I casually and in a friendly tone call his name and tell him to be cool. It usually works but just 1.5 weeks ago there was an incident at the dog park. A couple dogs in the new pack that we've been accepted into and have been getting to know for about six weeks started playing/roughhousing and my dog got into it (not sure if he thought he was breaking up a fight, joining into play but the one dog misunderstood, or if he thought he would join in a fight??) but it seemed like before I could even call him back it turned into growls, yelling and biting at each other until the other dog's owner and I got in there immediately and grabbed our dogs and separated them. There didn't seem to be any injuries, just some blueing on my dog's lip that I noticed. I didn't want to leave on a bad note so I put a leash on my dog and we continued walking around the park with all the dogs (just mine leashed since his recall is still a bit selective if he's focused on something and he is FAST, so can get away from me pretty easily). The other owner left shortly afterwards though because he said he thought his dog felt bad. About a week later, we tried introducing them again and they seemed okay at first but my dog seemed too focused on the other dog for my comfort. They smelled each other, my dog smelled the other dog's butt, I told him good boy and be cool and then I saw my boy start to put his chin over the other dog's back and immediately called his name and walked up to them just in time to grab my dog's collar as they started yelling and snapping at each other again. The other owner said he thinks part of the issue is my dog is larger than his boy and so I guess it's a little intimidating and also that my boy is new to the pack - so it's a bit of growing pains, I guess. Any thoughts on that?

The hardest part about Trust Techinique is finding your peace. Alot of owners have put their dogs on CBD oil for stress (cortisol) and I highly suggest that owners take some too. It really works. Cannabis oil can have serious impact on coritisol loads - your fight or flight hormone. Everyone wants an overall calm dog - your dog isn't calm - why? Is the dog getting proper exercise? Is your breed of dog allowed to do what they are bred to do? That alone is the leading cause of behaviours. Always let the dog disengage - always. If they are scared, be calm - and leave the dog alone. Put the onus on the dog to figure it out - realize that nothing bad is happening. And be that leadership - the thing to follow. At some point, the dog is going to calm - and disengage. Aggression and reactivity is engaged. Be the calm leader that the dog can choose to be a part of instead of freaking out - once they do disengage. Alot of dogs look at me once disengaged wondering why I'm not freaking out. If you are scared of spiders - then spiders are negative reinforcement to you. What is punishment? The removal of your positive reinforcement. It's something in the environment - the spider itself - that is punishing you and shaping your behaviour of fight or flight. That's a cortisol response my friend - the act of jumping on a chair is not an internal act of free will. The dog can't help their behaviour, neither can you - but a calm state changes everything. A calm state everywhere - that's called indifferent - socialised - nothing is a big deal.

I'm wondering what you do when you have a setback where your dog gets into a scuffle with another dog and then a week later, sees that same dog and seems to say high nicely but then starts to do the head over the other dog's back thing and right when you try to calmly tell him okay, come over here to try to avoid another scuffle, the other dog and your dog start another growly/snarly scuffle again before you and the other dog's owner can grab them and get them separated? My dog is bigger than the other. They are both neutered males. Mine is 3.5 years old and I think the other is around 2 or 3.

I have NEVER heard another trainer talk about how vulnerable & traumatized people who go to trainers are. I never thought about that before. That is so sad. It's a freaking scam! Damn. I wish people would just be more honest. When I get my business going, I have always wanted to focus on helping the humans just as much as helping the dogs bc I love & care for both. You focus on behavior instead of gimmicks. Everything you say correlates to what I have already felt in my heart.

Another problem with the dog training community is that no one wants to foster community & pass on their ideas to the younger generation. I have tried for years to get a dog trainer to accept free help from me in exchange for them teaching me what they do & mentoring me. No one is interested. If they can't get money, likes & subscriptions from it, they aren't interested in "teaching." Then, people teach themselves & come up with their own ideas instead of sharing ideas & techniques for the betterment of canines. I do not give 💩💩 about being rich or being popular on social media. I just want to start helping people with their dogs so they can give me money that I can use to pull dogs from the streets & shelters to help them trust humans & find homes. It just kills me watching all these trainers make themselves rich & giving very little back to the animals who have made them rich. Idk. I feel like people just do things for the wrong reasons these days... I love your commentary though. I'm gonna watch your videos & try to learn. Its so difficult to wade through the trainer b.s. to find the things that work. If you know of any trainers or good clubs in the Austin Texas area that like to share their ideas lmk please. I don't have a ton of money to give someone to take their course, but I'm a hard worker & I want to learn. Working with dogs is the only job I have ever wanted to do my whole life.

Robert isnt presenting this as he should. All it is is exposure therapy for a reactive insecure dog. This is not going to work at the vet or in a dog park.. you need positive association, counter inditioning, and obedience in order to socialize properly for ling term effect. Robert oversimplifies dog and human psychology. Trust and respect is only PART of the solution people! Thus guy!!!

I’ve just found your channel. I’ve always had a dog with me as long as someone was home full-time because I never believed in leaving a dog alone for 10 hours a day. I’ve always had a relationship with the dogs that have lived with me. I’ve never thought of them as pets, or that I was their mother, or I should treat them as a child, but considered them an intelligent being who is simply a different species, and we had to take time to learn about each other so we could live peacefully and respectfully together. We came to a mutual understanding. I knew what they required of me, and they knew what I required of them. I never felt that I “trained“ them, I simply let them understand that certain things were not allowed if we were going to live together, like them relieving themselves in the house. I have been blessed to live and befriend many wonderful and intelligent dogs all of whom had unique personalities. Many were adopted from shelters, and a few from breeders. None of them needed to be trained. They needed to be understood according to their breed, age, and whatever environment they came from. As I said, I’ve never seen your channel before, but I think this is the essence what you were saying, and I felt I had to say that I agreed with you. If I’m wrong, I apologize and will remove this comment. Best wishes.

Robert, guiding and motivating dogs or children is not inhumane. Everything we teach our dogs is for them to learn how to be a good member of society just like we do for our kids. Meanwhile he is attacking guys like Dog Daddy for his methods, when they somehow manage to calm these dogs down and put them into a mindset where they can learn and improve from within minutes and only needs maybe 2-3 sessions with the owners to allow for them to fix their relationship with the dog and how the dogs interacts with others.

I don’t understand why you’re hating so much on a dog trainer that is clearly doing something right? Here’s a challenge for you since you are so great at what you do hot shot. Get next to the most aggressive, bite active, jumpy cane corso. With no tools at your disposal only a regular collar no prongs and just a lead. Train that dog within a day to not bite, be jumpy or extremely aggressive. Doesn’t sound all that realistic to do? Then stop complaining about other dog trainers if you can’t even do it. You talk the talk but can’t walk the walk.

Looks like a bunch of TRICKS, but the dog only wants food (as food has been withheld for who knows how long to build food-drive)....dog couldn't care less about jumping through plastic hoops! Why do they not define the word Behavior.A simple dictionary explains it.An animal or person responds to a particular situation or stimulus.I can't understand Why trainers try to manage nd control that. They can't force a dog to behave the way they think the dog will respond. Its all control now with treats which don't always work.Realashionship with ya dog is important nd more effective. You build a relationship with your dog nd you find You are the dogs treat,Not a pice of food.Thats how I see it anyway.

@@ChristineTimms How trainers define operant conditioning is a method of behaviour modification using reward and punishment. Problem is, the entire system of what's called "dog training" is fully dependent on owners not understanding what a behaviour is. How is a behaviour is defined - the animal body's reaction to an environmental stimulus. it's not an act of free will. Behaviours are not a condition at all - let alone fixable through reward and punishment. Behaviours are NOT a punishable thing - punishment only works temporarily. That's not good for business for the average dog trainer. Hence the lies and there are more trainers out there that know they are lying to dog owners than owners realize.

i use a front fitting harness that I can now switch to a back fitting one because my dog no longer pulls. if i have to stick with one tool for the rest of his life I would rather have it be a harness, flat collar, martingale collar, or slip leash as these items have less room for failure so to speak. prongs can be difficult to put on and shocks have the biggest room for mishaps simply because they require a remote. if im going to use a shock collar for say recall why dont i just keep my dog on a long line instead and just make sure they dont run off with it?

You decided to open a can of worms Christopher, here's a spoon - feel free to chow down. And you call me a fraud? Why won't he define the word "Behaviour" from Skinners point of view? Cause once ANY trainer defines that word? They expose themselves as the frauds that they are. Punishment doesn't work does it? There is a reason why Skinner opposed punishment. And you're scared to say it - but you got all the degrees right? you're the smart one right? You're the best of the best right? I sincerely hope the rest of the IGP community is watching your antics. :)
