Beautiful garden. Viewing from Florida where I grow 9 mango trees in my garden, 4 avocado trees, 2 loquat trees and 1 sapodilla. You are lucky as you can grow citrus. Here in Florida, there is a flying insect that is an invasive species from Asia that transmits a disease called "citrus greening" to citrus trees and makes our citrus trees very unhealthy and almost pointless to grow here. Although University researchers are developing resistant varieties to this disease, the new varieties are still getting disease, just to a lesser much degree than traditional non-resistant varieties. Thanks for sharing your garden with us.
@@mpc72367 Thank you for your nice comment and sharing an interesting fact.
Hi,you are doing a great job! Most mango trees grow from seeds! My mango trees from seeds didn’t survive Sydney winter 😢. Your backyard is big, over 1000? The lychee tree is beautiful! How it survived the winter?
@tigerhill3385 Hi, thank you for your comment. My property is not that big, it is just above 700sqm. I am fortunate that my land has good soil and not much heavy clay. During planting I would remove the clay if there is any. I planted lychee in full sun and never even protect it from frost in winter. I water it regularly even in winter but not as often as in summer. I noticed that thick mulch can kill the tree, my Kwai Mai Pink which was shown in the 2024 Yearbook video has just died and the Wai Chee was looking unhealthy due to mulch of grass cuttings. I quickly removed the mulch and was able to save the Wai Chee but not the young Kwai Mai Pink. I planted mango seed in the correct places and not in pot, so that they will not suffer stress due to transplant.
Apologies, I just realized I made an error in my video. I mentioned that the Kiew Savoy mango can fruit almost continuously throughout the year, but that was a mistake. It should actually be the Nam Dok Mai mango, not the Kiew Savoy.
What a wonderful tour of your garden. I’m tuning in from across the ditch, and am genuinely jealous of some of your fruit that i know we can’t grow here, particularly your beautiful Mango. Although we are not in a heavy frost area, we do get the occasional one, and they can be heavy. I have planted a Lychee for the first time, but am growing it in a pot, so it can be sheltered when needed. Congratulations on such a successful year of growing. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your content. Happy New Year
Hi Tania, Happy New Year and thank you very much for your support. Best of luck with your garden.
Wow just discovered your channel. Lychee is growing really fast but the mango trees in your backyard are huge for Sydney. I'm in Blacktown area and growing a lot of this stuff as well (started 4 years ago). I'd love to come over and make a video of your garden. Pls see recent tours I did for some other people. ruclips.net/video/4C7hKci8yQ4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/RxnR0CqtzH8/видео.html
Thank you so much @desidownunder2085 for your comment and interest in making a video about my garden. I truly appreciate the attention and enthusiasm for it. However, at this time, I must kindly decline the opportunity to participate. If circumstances change in the future, I will certainly keep your request in mind. You make great videos and I wish you all the best for your future projects.
@@FruitfulBackyard No worries. Best of luck with the fruit trees.
Thank you
Great video! I just recently purchased a Wai Chee, having had minimal luck with Kwai Mai and Erdon Lee in Perth... what is the soil like where your Wai Chee is planted? Is it in full sun, and did you have to protect it initially (eg. shadecloth). :)
Hi Christian, Our backyard mainly has very good black soil. Before planting, I dug a big hole, removed any clay, and filled it with good soil from another area of the backyard. It was planted in full sun, and I did not protect it at all. However, when the fruit was nearly ripe, I used netting to protect the fruits from birds. I'd just planted a Kwai Mai Pink a few months ago, hopefully it will grow well.

❤😂a very creative comment. Thank you.
your Lychee tree looks so cute. I love the shape of it. I also got a Wai Chee at pot. doesn't seem to be happy, as most of the leaves are yellowish. I am going to transfer it to ground soon.
Thank you for your comment. Planting your lychee in the ground will be much better than pot as the soil does not dry out so quickly like the pot and there are more nutrients for the plant. Good luck.

Your trees look really nice. Impressive for Sydney! Love the Honey Gold Tree. It must be fairly old, as my Honey Gold seedlings have been very slow growing. It's a very low vigour variety, with thin branches. Hope you get to enjoy plenty more fruit in years to come!
